Metal supporting thumb can and should be adjusted
When I first received this several days ago and put it on, I was screaming inside, disappointed and frustrated because I had been expecting it to be as comfortable as the Aircast without the thumb spica for my right wrist I had used. This version was extremely uncomfortable when I first put it on, around the thumb where the metal was. However I did discover that the metal stay keeping the thumb in place can be removed (as can the volar stay on the palm side of the splint) and you can then bend it pretty easily and make it comfortable. I suppose one might need help with this if they already have pain in their wrist, but it is done easily enough, so I don’t imagine it would be a big deal to get help with this task. It isn’t made so that the thumb part is going to fit most people right out of the package, so I expect that this is a necessary step for most people if they want to be able to wear this. I actually bought another wrist brace immediately after putting this on and before discovering that I could mold it to fit comfortably, and while I found the other brace to be comfortable and pretty supportive, the Aircast one is more supportive than any I’ve ever used (aside from custom made splints, which have their own pros and cons) and I think I prefer the Aircast now. I don’t think I really need the thumb spica and I did manage to find the size Aircast I need (large) for my left wrist without the thumb spica on a different website, as it wasn’t available on Amazon yesterday when I decided I wanted the regular one and I’m hoping it will arrive quickly enough. But this one will work until then and I encourage everyone to adjust the thumb part or it will feel very uncomfortable. I couldn’t have kept wearing it without adjusting it, but I’m even wearing it overnight now.

The fit
I slightly fractured my arm and was told to use this. It worked great and provided amazing support the only downside was how the thumb part connected with the rest of the splint.

Does the job but is uncomfortable
It’s very rigid and the plastic parts dig in my hand. It does the job but is really uncomfortable.

Definitely works
My husband was having terrible radiating thumb pain from his thumb joint through his wrist. We bought this to stabilize everything for a few weeks. It worked amazingly. He used this in combination with some light stretching of the thumb a couple of times a day. He works long days carrying heavy boxes and so it did wear out pretty quickly. The seems open up and the fabric wears through and the metal bar at the wrist starts to protrude. We had to buy another one to replace the first, and then the second started to wear out, but it DOES work. It's not super expensive, and it did solve the problem so we didn't need a doctor visit or specialty fees etc. That was nearly two years ago and he still hasn't had any relapses with the pain since. Very thankful for this product.

Works
This is the only brace I've tried that really immobilizes my thumb. The metal splint part is not very comfortable but I've bent that area on the non metal ones I tried with my thumb, so it was not immobilized and would not heal. I placed 2/3" thick soft foam padding the entire length of the brace, about 1.5" wide where the metal is and a small piece at the v between my thumb and index finger. It is much more comfortable and very snug, which helps keep it immobile. Nearly healed after a month with this brace so it does work very well. The tenosynovitis has been ongoing for 8 months or so, wish i had found this earlier.

Good support, some discomfort, could be better made
I am suffering painful arthritis caused by a nonunion scaphoid and I regularly use a brace when working or riding my bike. I have large hands but relatively narrow wrists and so ordered a medium size. When I first started wearing the aircast brace. I found that it was very painful to the knuckle of my thumb to the point that it was bruised. I found that I could reduce this discomfort by fitting both the palm stay as well as the side/thumb stay so that these better confirm to the curvature of my hand and wrist. It can still be painful to wear all day because the inside of the thumb sleeve puts a lot of pressure to the webbing between my hand and thumb. Also, as the weather heats up, I find a lot of sweat accumulating inside the brace. Finally, probably due to wearing the brace while riding my mountain bike, the end of the sleeve that holds the palm stay is starting to fray and the aluminium stay will soon be digging into my palm.

Great but thumb piece does hurt
I broke my wrist in two places two months ago, doctor recommended a stable brace, said this one would be good. Initially got a medium due to swelling, was too big but when I reordered the small, it fit really well. I will say the thumb spica is pretty uncomfortable no matter the situation. I couldn’t find one in my size for the correct wrist without the thumb spica but often the stability of the brace worked so well, I was more in pain from the thumb piece cutting in. I’ve over exerted myself a few times since breaking it and put the brace back on for more stability and the thumb spica cutting in feels much worse when it’s not something that is there for weeks at a time.

Received wrong product, but still good
I ordered the cast with the thumb spica as that's what the doc told me to get. However, I was sent the one without the thumb spica. After some back and forth, I was able to receive a full refund. The product itself seems very durable and it was comfortable, but sadly, not the product I needed/ordered.

Perfect
Perfect support. The correct size. Just the right amount of movement in fingers and thumb to be able to carry on with mists tasks while wearing it.

Great for De Quervain's!
I was diagnosed with De Quervain's tenosynovitis and have tried some wrist supports from Shoppers. I found that those braces did not give enough stabilization of my thumb and I would still get some pains from sudden movements. This Aircast A2 Wrist Support with Thumb Spica is just perfect for De Quervain's! There's good immobilization that will really help to rest those thumb tendons. The straps are long, so I just cut them a little so there's not much excess velcro sticking out. They might feel a bit stiff (but I guess it serves its purpose as it's a brace), but this really helps me not to get the pain from my tenosynovitis when I move my hand. I got a size S (my wrist measures 6.2 inches). I dunno whether it would have been better if I got a size M. I fit okay with the S, but if you're really in between the 2 sizes, go for the bigger one. Overall, I am happy with the product.

Amazing buy, does the job well
I have been using this support brace for a few months. It played its part in making my wrist feel better, and honestly I still use it at night when I use my wrist a lot especially on long work days at the computer. It does a GREAT job at securing the whole wrist and thumb, it's comfortable to wear as well.

Ordered another one
My mom’s friend was at our house and I she showed us the injury she had to her wrist. She has had a few surgeries but it still does n feel right. I let her try on my Spica/Wrist brace and she asked if I could order her the same size as mine. I told her of course and ordered right away. Delivery came before expected date. Thank you !!!
