Like other reviewers said, it is good for feeding since it keeps the food from spreading out everywhere. My betta was curious about it immediately then was inside it in about 5 minutes. It did have a couple rough spots that I took down easily and quickly with an emery board. I washed it in hot water before putting in the tank. I didn’t notice any strong smells like some others noticed. It was a little smaller than I expected but overall a good purchase!

It’s not too rough and floats like it should. It took our betta a little while to figure it out, but now he loves it.

Our Betta Fish LOVES this!

This is one of the best purchases for our betta fish. For the first day he looked at it from afar and I was worried I wasted money, but after a little over 24 hours the floating log became his favorite space. He loves relaxing inside of it and basically only comes out for meals LOL.

These are perfect - but not for what you think they are for!

I bought these while they were on sale (buy one get one free I think) so I got two. I knew these were going to be perfect - but not for bettas, as I don't own any. I do, however, own a very quirky, shortbody albino Senegal bichir. His name is Dumpling. So, I noticed that Dumpling really likes to occasionally come up for breaths of air. I had added a bunch of those fake leaf betta hammocks for decoration (and also to help blot out some light from the growlight) and Dumpling used them. That silly little mans would go up to the surface and just sit on those betta hammocks and live his best life. I saw these were on sale and thought.. hm. I wonder if Dumpling would use them? Worse case scenario is I'd have to send them back, but for 2 for ten bucks it was senseless not to try. So.. I tried them. For the first few days Dumpling ignored them but now he started planting his fat butt in the logs and resting in them, so I think they worked out well. So, would it work for a betta? Idk. But for my weird bichir, they're perfect! Lol.

The media could not be loaded. I never write reviews, but my betta had been constructing a “bubble nest” and I didn’t know why or if something was wrong, but instead I learned it’s because he’s happy healthy and feels safe! This made me so happy!!???? get this for your betta!

If you're even slightly considering it, GET IT

The media could not be loaded. Your betta wants this. Seriously. Arti was straight up to check out the new item in the tank, and I put a little bit of food in it to show him that it's safe. Immediately, he started hanging out in it, swimming through, resting, checking it out. He LOVES it. I wasn't skeptical per se, but I wasn't sure he would like it as much as the reviews were suggesting. However, I was wrong, this is seriously AMAZING! One thing I will say is do not buy it alongside the "excercise mirror". This is very stressful and upsetting for your fish. A betta doesn't need to "excercise" and they hate mirrors. I hope this all helps! :)

My Betta loved this the moment I put it in.

EDIT- my guy has started using the opening at the top of the log as his bubble nest area so I can do water changes and not mess it is and stress him out which is great!!!! My male betta loves to make bubble nests but gets very grumpy after water changes when I disturb his nest, so I’m hoping this log and the hole at the top will become his new place to make his nest and I can change his water without breaking it up. The moment I placed it in his tank he was investigating it and swimming in it and after checking on him a few hours later he was hanging out in it so it looks like he really appreciates it. The log looks really nice. It’s quite realistic and there’s a lot of detail in it. It floats perfectly and thankfully doesn’t move around in my tank (which was a real worry of mine). I have a 28 litre tank and it’s the perfect size for it, and also the perfect size for him to swim in and turn around in. So far I’m extremely pleased with it and would recommend it for anyone with a betta fish!

Happy Betta!

When we first introduced this, my Betta flared at me and wouldn’t go near it. I was disappointed but hoped he would eventually give it a go. He did eventually venture in, at some point in the night, and I was so elated when I woke up to find him snoozing in it all cosy and snug. He will seldom leave the log now, even though his tank has recently been renovated! We call it the loft room now (since it’s high up haha) and I just feel so happy that he loves it.

Excellent item tailored for Betta Fish

Previously I'd purchased the Betta cave that sits on the bottom of the tank, however my little guy was unimpressed by it. That's probably because it's too deep and dark for him, without a hole on the top for him to easily come up for air. He investigated that for about three minutes and has ignored it ever since. This log is a different story. Much better suited to Betta fish, this floats near the surface with a feeding hole on that also acts as an air hole, allowing him to get air on the surface without leaving the log. Being open ended it also allows him to get a bit of respite and a break from the light in the aquarium without being pitch black. The log has been in the tank for a couple of hours and my Betta has been absolutely fascinated by it, exploring it inside and out, and now resting in it. I'll try and feed him via it going forward, but it doesn't look like he needs any encouragement to use it! I have it in my 30 litre aquarium. If you have anything smaller it may be a bit too big and take up too much space. It also floats freely. I have it at the back of the tank against one of my heaters, which stops it from floating about all over the place.

Overpriced..not a great design

This log is quite rough so sand it down before you put it in with your Betta...you may get ripped fins otherwise. It definitely floats!! However the hole at the side the Betta should be able to swim into always ends up at the top out of the water, the solid side is obviously heavier...not a great design. However my Betta is going in the log and its a good resting place. These fish are curious little things and get bored if there's no enrichment in their tank.
