Does it’s job
This is the first grazing muzzle I have used so I can’t compare it to others. I was a little hesitant but it allows my gelding to be out 24 hours with this fresh spring grass without me worrying about him over eating and foundering. I take it off, during the day, and put it on at night when the sugar content of the grass is higher. It took him about ten minutes to figure out how to use it but once he got the hang of it, he was happy. It’s not a lightweight flimsy material so I’m hoping it will last for a long time.

Most cost effective and reliable, grazing muzzle I have used
I have been through many grazing muzzle’s with my easy keep her horse that is prone to laminitis. This brand of grazing muzzle has always been reliable and lasts. I have much more expensive muzzles but I still like this one best.

So far so good after a week of use.
We have an easy keeper who will quickly get sore feet if allowed to freely graze a spring pasture. This spring he spent a few days on what looked like a fairly "safe" section of pasture but nope, after a few days it obviously wasn't so he had to stay in and continue to eat last years hay. He recovered fine but I didn't want to leave him in all of the time so I really needed to find a grazing muzzle. I wanted one that could use a standard nylon halter for durability and this fits the bill. You will need to add a piece of bailing twine or something to the top of the muzzle and connect it to the halter nose band to prevent the muzzle from dropping down and allowing the horse to eat through the large nose holes. I first tried using velcro like others but in the end, bailing twine (although not the most attractive option) is simpler, less bulky and readily available if it gets lost. He doesn't seem to care either way. The breakaway function was added by removing the short section of the halter buckle and replacing it with this "Weaver Leather Breakaway Fuse (3-Pack) , Brown". This looks like a much more long lasting solution when compared to the muzzle/halter combos out there. I was worried that the rectangular opening in the muzzle was going to let him eat too much but after a week of fresh short sugar filled green grass he is still sound and not showing any signs of too much sugar. I feel better and he seems to be happy as well. I did notice a little rubbed spot on the end of his nose but it's not directly from the muzzle fit (which has over an an inch of clearance) but more from his drive to eat and eat as much as possible and push his nose into the ground. He eats slower, drinks just fine, and his feet aren't getting sore so it's all good. All in all I'd say this was a great purchase.

Well made, looks very durable. Easy to attach.
Easy to attach. Seems durable. Have a normal size headed Quarter mare. Could be a little larger but it is not too small and she is comfortable in it.Well made, looks very durable. . The only thing I gripe about, not specifically about this one, is the basket/muzzle wears out long b/4 the webbing does. I usually get wear of about 1 year b/4 the bottom hole enlarges.

Works well with one adjustment
This muzzle lasts a full season each year for me. As she grazes the plastic hole gets larger so it has to be replaced. I agree it should have a strap on top so I wrap it to the halter with vet wrap and that solves that issue.

Mental horse couldn’t get this off
I have a horse who REALLY hated this but needed it, and he could not get it off. He’s also a larger horse and it fit him well, so if you have a petite horse you might think about getting a smaller size. All in all though, this thing is super duper tough because I saw how hard my guy tried to get it off initially.

Top strap
As the other reviewers mentioned, it definitely needs a top attachment. I just tied it with a leather strip i had. She took it a lot better than the full halter styles.

Didn’t last
Like other reviewers, we had to tie the muzzle to the front of the muzzle. The muzzle caused rubs, but that seems unavoidable with muzzles. We were shocked that the ornery pony mare didn’t escape… turns out she was chewing a bigger hole in the bottom. The muzzle only lasted about a month.

Breathable and comfortable
Fits my cob really well, much better nostril holes so more breathable and less sweaty in the heat. The grazing hole is also a better size than other similar products, so don't look quite so miserable. Can drink with it on easily too. And even though it's velcro, it's double sided and actually stays on well on my Houdini horse who usually gets every head collar off!

Great fit! Safe and secure!
Love the fit, matched with a break away halter it is safe and works great!

Easy to use, fits well
Fit my horse well, he could breath easily. I did find that the inside of it was scraped away after a couple weeks of about an hour of use a day from my gelding's teeth. So I don't know how long it would last. But otherwise was very good.

Not worth the money and very large in size
Horse size is very large. Far too big for my TB mare who wears a full size headcollar. It's so big it fits on my 9yr olds head as a hat. The attachments aren't great, velcro straps. There is nothing to hold it on at the front. Yes the nostril holes are larger than the bucket type and it has a larger hole to feed but it's otherwise a more flexible version of a bucket muzzle. Bearing in mind the large size of this muzzle the hole may not be any larger in the appropriate size. It's not worth £35 considering you still need a field safe halter to use with it. I will be buying another greenguard muzzle. They are more expensive but much safer and don't rub or damage my mares face.
