Updates with increase in overall rating: Replacement flashlight is performing as advertised. See below for problems with first flashlight. Remaining issues: 1) O-rings at head and battery cap ends are very thin and can easily be damaged by the nearby sharp aluminum thread. Recommend applying silicon grease or other lubricant designed specifically for o-rings. This will help prevent 0-ring displacement and rolling when screwing or unscrewing head and battery cap. It will also slow down long-term degradation (drying & becoming brittle) of the o-rings caused by exposure to naturally occurring ozone in the air (like car tire age even when not used). However, in fairness, the flashlight only needs the o-rings in order for the flashlight to remain water resistant. 2) There is no link on Amazon for PDF copy of user manual. However, at least one of the major hardware stores provide it on their website. Zooming the document on-screen makes the ultra tiny font used in the manual so much easier to use. ***** Two serious defects (1st Flashlight): 1) O-ring located at head of flashlight brittle and broken (see photo). 2) Light output erratic. Often, brightness automatically drops a couple of seconds after turning light on. On occasions when light appears to be working well at full brightness, a half-tap of the power button appears to shift the light to a lower output mode. However, the literature does not mention this light having a 2-mode capability, nor does it describe how to switch between a high and low light output mode. Other comments: 1) I really like the way this light fits the hand (a well designed form factor). 2) The font used in the enclosed customer information literature is so small (4-point) that it's almost impossible to read. If you look at the photo, you will see that CAPITAL letters are only 1mm tall, and lower case letters are about half the size. 3) I prefer flashlights that use 2 ea AA batteries. Some use 3 ea AAA batteries. As an AA battery has about three times the mAh capacity as its AAA cousin, and they both sell for about the same cost, the cost per mW and per lumen hours (lighting) produced is 1/3 cheaper when using AA batteries. 4) I purchased both the Duracell 150 and the Energizer Tac-2AA flashlights. In comparison: a) As compared to the Duracell 150, the Energizer performed flawlessly and gives every appearance that it is really well-built. b) The form-factor (ergonomics & space utilization) favors the Energizer and would more easily fit into let's say, a small glove box or hunting jacket pocket. On the other hand, the Duracell 150, in my opinion, just feels better when setting it on the nightstand and when holding or pointing it.

Rugged, sturdy flashlight
A rugged and sturdy flashlight from a dependable manufacturer. Standard batteries, easy to find and replace when needed. This flashlight is larger than you might envision, and heavier - for your use, this could be a plus or a minus.

Compact and super bright!
I use the flashlight when I walk my dog at 4 am. It’s super bright but doesn’t light up the whole neighborhood (so I don’t have angry neighbors). It seems to have great battery life. I dropped it in a puddle the other morning, and it still worked like a charm. Great purchase!

Evil flashlight is unreliable.
1) The switch is hard to use. 2) light ROLLS if surface is slightly tilted. 3) Crappy light TURNED ITSELF OFF, W/OUT BEING TOUCHED. I had to find it in the dark 3 times to turn it back on. This light is DANGEROUS, don't buy it. CDW
