Very sturdy writing pads
I like these sturdy writing pads. The paper is thick and does not easily rip like so many other cheaper pads do. If you want sturdy writing pads these are the ones to buy. These may be more expensive but they last and are not just merely toss away pads like so many other are.

Tops Docket Gold legal pads vs. Docket vs. everyday pads: Which is best?
I’m a stickler for highest quality office products, and long as also a reasonable value. At triple the price of basic legal pads, is Tops Ledger Gold worth the premium? For the vast majority of us, Ledger Gold’s quality no longer befits its royal price. Let’s compare Tops Ledger Gold vs. Ledger and basic pads from several brands: DOCKET GOLD: Unless you are truly taking notes in meetings with no other backing board, such as a portfolio case, Docket Gold has strengths as well as quality control issues. Quality has slipped. On the plus side, it’s one of the few legal pads with thick 20 lb. paper stock. It’s smooth and your pen will glide over it. However, the binding of all that we recently purchased is buckling in two places and terribly sloppy looking. Not a prestige look! Most pads tear well. Some can have the perforations too close to the backing, creating tearing issues. If important to you, these pads have a deeper heading area and one less line available than most competitors. We cannot continue to pay nearly 3X the price for these for sloppy workmanship, sadly. DOCKET: Still expensive, but a good compromise pad if you absolutely need a thick backing board. Since I like to show off my leather portfolio case when taking notes in a group setting, this is not of importance to me. TOPS EVERYDAY LEGAL PADS, AMAZONBASICS, STAPLES AND UNIVERSAL: These four are among the better no frills pads. None have thick backing boards. Each has thinner 15 lb. paper stock yet many people actually prefer this unless writing with rollerballs or fountain pens that can bleed through. With any of these brands pages will typically tear easily, but not as crisply as Docket Gold. Every now and then you may encounter a clunker of a printing run, so do not hesitate to exchange for another batch the same brand. I particularly like the bright canary yellow color of Universal pads but this brand is not “universally” easy to get. Both AmazonBasics and Staples pads are an excellent value for good everyday quality. The same is true for the lowest price offering from Tops, labeled as “The Legal Pad.” Hope this long review has been of some small help. Take it from your friend the professor: KEEP TAKING GREAT NOTES--IN PERSON--OR VIA ZOOM. PROGRESS IS ON THE WAY!

One less pet peeve checked off my list!
Tops legal pads are the absolute best! Thick, sturdy cardboard backing (like they all used to be in the 1970's), paper is bright and heavy too. I really dislike droopy legal pads. I like computers, but there's nothing like working the day using legal pads in small and large sizes, to make lists, draw, formulate contracts etc. It's really hard to be focused and creative when I'm fighting with a limp-legal pad! The "old school" mom & pop stationary store in town had only 1 choice of heavy pads but cost $16 each! I believe it was an English import paper company. I really wanted to see & feel the pads, but finally decided to trust Amazon's reviews and descriptions and found TOPS. Bought a pack of large & small and couldn't be happier. Well worth the price. I used to live in a Third World Country where everything was thin, and bad quality... much like all the energy saving products we love today in the US - So, I just don't waste it and enjoy the beauty of good quality paper!

Very Heavy Thick and Nice with minor drawbacks
My motivation for trying this product was because I was previously using Staples store brand writing pads. The problem with the Staples brand writing pads that bothered me the most was that the header completely covered the perforated tear line. In order to get a clean tear, I needed to peel back or in some cases completely peel off the pad header from the pad, making it look terrible. Another reason I couldn't get a clean tear was the thickness/weight of each sheet of paper was fairly thin with the Staples brand as well. I ordered a 12 pack of these yellow Docket 8.5x11 legal pads. One arrived with the top header broken on the end. 4 had the tear perforations well below the header as they all should be. 4 had the tear perforations close enough to being below the header that they'll be useable. The last 4 had the same problem as the Staples brand, and I'll have to rip them up to use them properly. Aside from that, these are HEFTY in your hand. They feel strong and substantial and the back cardboard is thick enough to write on with just one sheet remaining without a table. I just don't know why quality control has to be so difficult with the perforations being under the header cover piece.

Thicker paper is easier to scan
Though this is more expensive, I like it better and will continue to buy it because the pages don't curl up and hinder scanning.

The Best Legal Size Pad Currently Available
The best legal size pad currently available but are rather high priced. I have always preferred handwriting for getting ideas down initially. A good dark pencil and a yellow legal size pad have worked for me well for decades. I use computers a lot and most thing wind up there, but for me, and I suspect others, typing into a software program is just not as (pick a word); organic, intuitive, creative, natural, satisfying? So with the overall reduction of handwriting and the near obsolescence of the legal size format, it has become harder to find a quality legal size pad; going, going, but not yet gone. So I for one am willing to pay what is by any objective measure a high price in order to get what I actually want. I cannot deduct a star on price as I don't really see that there is any genuine competition. So if you can afford them and like their utility, aesthetics, and maybe a touch of nostalgia, buy them. I did and will do so again if they are still there to buy.

Schlechte Qualität
Habe extra die beste Qualitätsstufe "Ultimate" bestellt, bin aber enttäuscht. Der Druck ist billig, die Linien teils verschoben. Das Papier an sich in Ordnung. Es eignet sich für Notizen die man nicht aufheben muss. Ein Premiumprodukt wie es beworben wird, ist es nicht.

Cuatro estrellas porque considero que es algo caro, pero eso si, la calidad es buenísima. Es una marca que usaba mucho en USA y que en España solo encuentro a través de Amazon.

Its a good product but I ended up returning it because around the same price you can get Mead Cambridge pads which are of superior quality to this one. Giving it a 4 star as there is nothing wrong with the product itself.
