This extension works great with the North States Supergate Deluxe Decor Gate that I also purchased off of Amazon. I was able to purchase an open box item from the Amazon to save a bit of money. The normal price for just the extension piece seems a little high to me. The extension is easy to add to the gate - you just twist and pop off one of the end bars and then do the reverse to attach it. The gate is easy to configure in different angles and shapes to fit any opening. It attaches to the wall with brackets and a template guide is included to get the brackets installed in the right place. Once attached to the wall and the joints tightened between the gate sections to prevent movement in the gate, it is very sturdy. Overall, I think this gate looks better then many of the other pet and child gates available. I'd purchase this gate and extensions again should I have need for another one.

Sturdy and safe - recommended

The media could not be loaded. Needed a baby-proof stair gate to span two side-by-side staircases... one going up and one going down. Bought extra panels to extend it into a ‘D’ shape to give plenty of room to enter/exit away from the stairs. Followed fitting instructions and it worked perfectly. Very sturdy construction with nice feel for baby - no apparent sharp edges. Gate opens easily and closes on its own. I am an engineer, so pretty fussy about construction of things I buy... this product gives me total confidence. Just one note... the ivory color really is ivory, not white. This was a little unexpected, but actually blends better than pure white, so we were very pleased. Updated 5/16/18 - Gate still working perfectly. Someone asked a question about how to remove the bar to extend the gate. Added a video here to show that.

I purchased this to go along with the gate since my opening was 76” and the gate system was 72”. It works well with the gate and is secure

Excellent choice. Sturdy

Excellent choice. Sturdy. My daughter had furniture delivered and I just listed the gate out of the way of the stairs. Then put it back when they were done no problem. I have it on the first stair. I ordered the banister piece and it works great. I also ordered an extra panel which is very easy to install but I did not need it. I'm considering ordering another gate for a room entry way because it really is convenient and simple to move.

Works for us.

I was able to extend our existing gate. There is a little movement because it sits on our hard floors but it gets the job done.

If you have to pad out your opening to mount the gate, you may not need this.

The item itself is fine and well made, but we ended up not needing it after we ordered it, because we have baseboards and had to pad out our exactly 72" opening to mount the gate. (See my review and photos for the North States Supergate Deluxe Décor Metal Gate for more info).
