Good timer
Relatively easy to install. The faceplate was a little hard to put fiy but that was somewhat expected with the 3 gang plate. The timer worked as expected. The dial labels are small and hard to read.

Intermatic KM2ST-3G 3 Gang Toggle SPST 24-Hour Mechanical Timer The Intermatic KM2ST-1G 1 Gang SPST In-Wall 24-Hour Mechanical timer is a great product. It has few wires and is easy to install as long as you have a rudimentary knowledge of what's hot and what's neutral when it comes to your electrical wires. The directions are straightforward and simple, although it may take a few tries to get the timer set as you like it. One of the things I like most about this system is that you don't have to worry about replacing batteries or about it being thrown way off by an electrical outage. After 3 months it's still plugging away doing exactly what was promised which is to light the outdoors only during nighttime hours so that I don't have to waste time or electricity flipping the many light switches around the outside of the house on at night and off during the day. We'll see what happens in a year.

Works well and survives better than electronic timers
I purchased this timer to install in lieu of the on/off switch for my driveway lights. Previously, I had installed a Honeywell (Aube) electronic timer. That one died within 6 months, and was replaced by the manufacturer, but the replacement died within 6 months. So I conclude that power spikes, lightening or poor workmanship dictated a mechanical timer for my installation. This Intermatic mechanical timer has been working for over a year now. It fit easily into the spot where my on/off switch had been. Compared to most mechanical timers, it is quiet. I like the large number of ON/OFF selections, that allow for a lot of cycles during a 24 hour period. Since the overall footprint is small, the selection buttons are fairly small, but since its a set and forget item, this is no real disadvantage. The manual/automatic/OFF button is large and easily operated. All in all, it works as advertised. Be aware that unlike some electronic timers which require only two wires (a hot and a load), this timer requires three wires, a hot, a neutral and a wire to the load.

Faulty Product from Intermatic! Had problems with their timing devices before. Others, too!
Just installed this about 3 weeks ago for a porch light (we were traveling and things were just too busy to do it any sooner). It sounded like it was working BUT it only worked for 15 hours then stayed on after that –– it never turned off. So, figured it needed a little breaking in and spun the clock part around a couple of times to see if that would loosen it up. Then, set the time to time of day and let it run. Worked just fine until the light turned on at the set time of 7 PM, then the light stayed on all night. The clock part didn't move at all, it stayed at 7 PM. Thought may it needs more tick-tock time so spun clock again to turn off light, then set the clock at time of day. Worked just fine for 14-15 hours until 7 PM came up -- light went on but never turned off. Timer stuck at 7 PM. No movement. Rotate timer to where it turns off and it will go around to the set time to turn on - CLICK - dial sticks again. Repeat, repeat, repeat! • It has to be defective but too late to return it as 3 weeks have gone by the return date. Just didn't have the time to install it right away. • This is a faulty product, so there should be some way to get it exchanged or refunded? HELP!

Works great.
Works very well and was a great solution for my outside light. I use this setup for a light switch that turns on the outside light and the other two are for inside. I just needed a timer for the outside light so this was perfect. Installation was only a bit of a problem due to the fact the wires in my house are old and hard to work with but the switch was fine.

Intermatic KM2ST-3D 3 Gang Decorator SPST 24-Hour Mechanical Timer This is a great timer! Easily installed with no neutral wire to worry about. I replaced an old Intermatic timer that had been installed 30 years ago and this is quite an upgrade. I took the advice of other reviews and put in the battery and programmed the timer before I installed it in the wall which makes things much simpler. A great thing about it is the dusk feature that turns on the lights sooner/later as the days get shorter/longer. No need to reset the timer every few weeks to adjust when the lights come on. It also switches automatically to daylight savings if you set it up that way.

Doesn't seem to work
Comes with a nice metal (not plastic) face plate, went in easily. Installed at about noon, at night light turned on as programed. In the AM, light was still on. Timer dial hadn't moved from the time lights turned on. Timer dial seems to rotate and keep time as long as all the toggles are in the "off" position. As soon as the rotation hits the toggled "on" mode everything stops. (Previous reviewer had similar issue.) Emailed Intermatic and was told to call and talk to a technician when I'm at the timer to try and trouble shoot. Since that is an option only available during 8-4 work hours Mon-Fri, will have to see if on a weekday off technical support can suggest anything to solve the issue. Otherwise I have a fancy looking on/off switch but no timer.

Make sure you understand what needs to be done and above all else, trip the breaker before starting.
Once I checked the wiring box, took pictures and knew where the AC input was, the actual installation and wiring took 30 minutes. All worked fine. I have since ordered a second timer for another set of lights and the results were the same. A 5 star product.
