Not worth the money
As much as I love Gardena products for their design and quality, this one fails the comparison with the Orbit at 1/3 the price. I have 3 separately timed circuits and I have used mostly Orbit and Gardena timers for 15 years. The only advantage of the Gardena is the ability to program more than one cycle per day. This is very useful if you have potted plants on a drip system--watering them for a very short period (1-2 minutes) 2 or even 3 times a day keeps them moist without a lot of water runoff. And now for the drawbacks, which mostly relate to the fact that this timer doesn't have a display. Every programming step is "confirmed" by a flashing light, which disappears after the program is set up. While it's easy enough to follow the programming directions, the fact that I have to pull them out every year to figure out how to set the watering frequency is quite annoying--you'll never have to look at directions with the Orbit. Also, once you have set the program, you have no way of knowing when the watering starts and how long it lasts or even if the timer is programmed--the LED doesn't light up or flash to reassure you as with some other timers. So I write down the program and put a paper towel under a dripper to verify the timer is working if I'm planning to go away for a while. Third big drawback: if you use the manual watering override, you have to reprogram the watering time. With the Orbit, you just set it to "manual," set the length of time, and it reverts to the program by itself afterwards. Gardena now makes water timers with digital displays--they're more expensive but definitely worth it. But, unless you need to water ore than once a day, save fifty bucks and buy the Orbit. Also, two out of three Gardena timers I bought in the last ten years failed after 2-3 years..

Durable and easy to program, highly recommended.
I have been using this timer valve for a long time.. It worked great for so many years without any problem until recently it failed to work, so I have ordered the same one. It was left outside in the harsh weaher without protection. The only maintenance I had to do was replacing the 9V battery (about once a year). I keep forgetting to replace the battery, but once I noticed that the timer is not working properly, I just insert a new battery and we are back in business. The programming appears to be difficult, but once you do it one time then it will be easy for you to reprogram at any time. To program it, just switch the knob to the OFF position and press the OK button, The LED light will keep flashing so follow the flashing LED lights to program the time, days/intervals, and the duration (how long you desire the valve to open), just press OK after you set any of these settings and the flashing will move to the following setting. After you program the duration just press OK and the LED light will stop flashing and you are done. The other good thing about the programming is that if you want to change only the duration time between different seasons, you don't have to do the full programming, you just rotate the knob to the desired duration and press OK. If you want to open the valve manually, just move the knob to the ON position and it will be manually open till you switch it back to the timing position. If you want it to be off for any reason (such as the rainy days), just switch it to the OFF position (but don't forget to switch back a gain to the required timing position).

Works great and very reliable
This water timer is terrific and very reliable. It waters my terrace plants 3x a day with no problems. The only caution is that twice I accidentally set the duration to 0 minutes and so it didn’t work. Took me a while to figure it out and it was my mistake. I think I forgot to press OK after setting the duration. So make sure you program it correctly. I highly recommend this timer. Thank you.

leaked after 3 months
After only 3 months, I had a leak. When I tried to order a replacement piece, I was unable to find contact info nor the part to order online. This is very disappointing

Good Product, but Difficult to Program.
My only complaint about this product is that it is not so easy to program. The instructions are clear, but th programming cycle takes a long time. However, the timer works well and I am satisfied with the purchase

Works with drip hoses
Tried other water timers that failed to work with drip hoses. Bought this one and it actually works! Programming this timer was much easier than other timers I went thru (the one's that eventually failed to turn on/off with drip hoses). Finally, the build quality of this thing is night and day better than the others. Upon opening the package and holding this thing for the first time, compared to the other timers out there, this feels like military hardware.

Four Stars
It works great. Bit hard to get your head around the programming, but doable. Don't loose your instructions, though.

Garden water timer - Easy to use
Simple to set up. Easy to over-ride when manual functuality required. Hardy. I feel I can confidently leave home for a period having set the timer, knowing it will operate as designed. Also the design and use is not overly complicated.

Bon minuteur
Semble être un bon minuteur ( Gardena ) . je viens de recevoir cet appareil , je ne peux pas évaluer la durabilité . Le point très négatif est le service de livraison , commander le 24 mai et reçu le 16 juin ?
