Product sizing not accurate
My cat fits within the weight range for the medium, but jacket is clearly too small. A more clearly-marked accurate size is needed. Frustrated and disappointed.

Order a little larger size.
I've had this item before when my cats were younger and smaller. I ordered medium which is supposed to fit up to 13 pound cat. My boys are just over 12. I returned the mediums.

IT ACTUALLY WORKS
My sweet boy was at a high kill and overpacked shelter before I found him. He took a 7 hour ride on a rescue bus full of dogs before he arrived to the rescue I found him at, so needless to say he has been through a lot! When I took him home 3 months ago he cried and cried in the carrier until we got home. He’s adjusted to his new home but gets frequent fits of anxiety which results in him running and meowing all day and night when I’m trying to sleep. He also gets very bad separation anxiety whenever I leave the room, even if I am just using the bathroom. Everything besides me, other people, and his 4 adopted brothers make me him anxious. He loves the company of anyone who will adore him but still has some anxiety and is almost always screaming. With all of this being said, I figured I’d try the Thundershirt before bringing him to the vet and letting them start him on Orozac, and I am so glad I did because this thing ACTUALLY WORKS! He did not enjoy having it out on and he did try to get it off at first. He couldn’t move at first but eventually he figured it out and is mobile. But WOW- he has been so relaxed. I got my first full night of sleep in a while, as did he. I was home all day and he has been quietly snuggled next to me all day! No running, no screaming, just nonstop sweet purring happiness. I can’t guarantee it will work for every cat but I absolutely do recommend trying for your anxious, scared or aggressive baby! It’s unbelievable how much of a difference this thing has made!

Every cat is different
Don't get me wrong, this is actually a great quality item and well made.... it just not for every cat. we got a kitten Sept 2014, he was small and then got really sick and I was put on a last minute, 7 month business trip. So he didn't get introduced to our other two cats until July. our oldest cat, Felix, started plucking the fur out of his tail and then he started obsessively cleaning himself when he never really cleaned himself before. The vet diagnosed him with an anxiety disorder and suggested this or plug-in diffusers. We got the calming plug ins first, but he just seemed tired and zombie-like, so I was hoping the Thundershirt would help. he likes to cuddle, to be wrapped in towels/blankets, and extra heat, so I assumed this would be perfect. We first put it on him and he did the flop over that the instructions mentioned could happen. Its a new and weird sensation, so its going to happen. we started playing with Felix, but the other two kept sniffing him, so we took him out of the room. He got treats and scratches, some playing and was allowed to explore the rest of the house. He seemed to be building confidence and was more outgoing than he's been in a long time. we took him back to the cats room (our cats have their own room, a small master bedroom size), and the other two came over to sniff the shirt again - poor Felix's head and tail went down lower then it was before the shirt - I didn't know a cat could even be self-conscious. My husband and I played with them for another hour to get everyone used to the shirt and rebuild confidence and bonds. we left it on him for the rest of the night. He is used to wearing it, but doesn't like it and its nothing new for the other two cats Pros: -other reviews for this item (the large offered on Amazon) said this was T-shirt material, its NOT. it is like a thick track suit. a lot heavier than a t-shirt, but lighter weight than a sweat shirt. Its not going to get snagged if he scratches at it. It is breathable too - I've stuck my hand between the shirt and cat to make sure he wasn't over heating (this also ties in with a con below) -easy to figure out with our without instructions -The instructions - it was very helpful to expect the flop and ways to coax the cat into seeing the shirt positively Cons: - sizing - I went off girth around the chest. I measured and checked with the size chart. He was supposed to be a medium. there is exposed Velcro when Felix is wearing the shirt because he's a little chunky (its the soft side of the velcro so he isn't scratching himself or collecting lint/etc) He isn't a huge cat, but he isn't small. when the shirt is pulled to just behind his front legs, his back legs wrinkle the shirt (its too long for him). -the front Velcro- if I tighten it enough to keep the shirt al the way forward, there's excess that he pulls at - hes gotten very good at undoing the front Velcro. if I line the Velcro up so that there isn't an excess for him to grab, it doesn't get as tight at the cat in the displasy picture and the shirt slides back. He's also gotten his jaw stuck in it. - When Felix sleeps in a ball, the Velcro crumples and it looks like the back gets stretched and stays stretched when he gets up. - possibly too breathable. We keep a heater in the cat room for when my husband cranks the AC. the last couple times I turned the heater on while Felix was wearing the shirt, he sprinted to the heater and was standing on his back legs to try to get the full force of heat. the room wasn't that cold and that was out of his character. Overall, My cat doesn't like it. twice now I took his harness off to put the shirt on him and he went to the other side of the room and wouldn't come near me when he normally comes when I call. he bites at it and pulls at it. Its got great reviews, vet recommended, but, like humans, every cat is different.

Extremely useful, if not precisely how I expected
I got this after adopting a very traumatized cat who would scream and cry all day and all night for months. I tried so many things: calming collars, calming sprays, calming treats, supplements, pheromone diffusers, etc., to no effect. With the vest on he would stop crying and immediately fall asleep... however, he was never able to walk in it. The hole for the front legs seems to be pretty restrictive when the velcro is adjusted snugly, which is maybe why he struggles to walk. He's a little over 9 lbs so I got a medium, but I wonder if a smaller size might actually have given him more mobility in the shoulders. With the vest he becomes dangerously clumsy and generally won't move at all, even if he is hungry, thirsty, or needs to use the box. So it didn't work for long-term use. Eventually I figured out he loves other cats so I got him another cat, and now he almost never cries unless he can't find his buddy. Still, the Thundershirt has come in incredibly handy for giving him medication. He's relatively cooperative and seems to understand that the medication makes him feel better, but still instinctively jerks away from having a syringe jammed down his throat. Wearing the vest helps him relax before and after, and not react so dramatically that he spits out all of the medicine.

Do not follow their recommended size!
The product is definitely of amazing quality, but the recommendations on size to weight are just not accurate, and I manage these on the daily in my place of work. Medium is way too small for my long boy! He weights 11lbs and the shirt barely stretches around him. It is awkwardly short, leaving his whole entire tummy out, shifting upwards and consuming his elbows inside. Definitely go for the large size if you got long boys.

Vet Nurse Owner Review.
As a Vet Nurse I've seen & been aware of the success of Thundershirt for a long time. But first time I used on my own animals. My sister purchased 1 for her terrier for fireworks & car journeys & success was amazing. I bought a cat shirt for my cat with over-grooming behaviour. Cat has often had "jumpers" on at Halloween & Xmas that last about 10seconds. This shirt, I gradually put on her with treats. She tolerates. It calms her down completely & she usually just falls asleep wearing. They still are cats so will act like their legs are affected, which they're not!! and she'll walk in a crouched position. But never cries/meows wearing it. And it def stops her grooming behaviour. As a vet nurse I'll continue to recommend.

Fabulous for separation anxiety!
Absolutely love this for my fur baby, she has major separation anxiety because I am usually at home, so when I leave she frets, chews her fur and get a strange odor. Ordered this after coming home to get in the worst state I’ve seen her and when it arrived the next day put it straight on her for, she was not happy at first but she got used to the feel of it quite fast, after a couple of hours there was a noticeable difference. The next time I went out for a couple of hours I put it on her and when I got home she was much better than usual, no odor and pottering round the house. I have not tried this for longer than a few hours yet but so far so good and I will carry on using it. She likes to be held tight when she is anxious which is why I tried this, we have tried everything else going, feliway, medication, you name it and this is by far the best thing we’ve tried!

Extremely restrictive and uncomfortable
I had some awful aggression issues between two cats and heard about these. Whilst I am sure they are probably great for dogs for cats (I have 7) I would say they are extremely uncomfortable, thick, restrictive of all natural movement and also the cats stuck to everything with the amount of Velcro used. I bought all sizes and not one fitted well. Incredibly fiddly too. A total fail for us. Thankfully I subsequently found Pritty Kitty calming vests which are a completely different design, made for comfort and worked wonders!

Doesn't work... Pulls off neck thing
I desperately bought these because I have two cats that fool around like a teenage punk rock concert each night making it impossible for me to sleep and ruining my life.. I was hoping that I could finally get some sleep by putting these thundershirts on the cats, but they simply take off the neck thing and they don't calm down at all!!! I have desperately bought all three sizes to try and find the correct size. The small size is super tiny and will probably only fit kittens, the medium and large one I can fit on each of my two cats, but it's no problem for them to get the neck thing off and they don't calm down! I've been patient and gradually tried to make them used to wearing them for short durations over a couple of days and I have wasted money on buying different sizes of thundershirts to find the correct sizings.. No luck, I must continue to daydream about getting a proper night's sleep.. or get rid of the cats

It doesn't stay on!
As soon as we put the jacket on, our cat went under the decking and removed it. We can't take up the decking so that is a waste of over £30..... Velcro simply isn't strong enough for a determined cat. If it was £10 I'd write it off as a bad purchase, but the the high cost led me to believe it was a quality product. I wanted to leave a no star rating but one star is the minimum.
