Works well

Sounded so loud I had to use it in the garage.

For the price I expected extremely high quality. That’s a lie. I contacted the company and they said they didn’t know what it was supposed to sound like. I bought several Mercer knives, and the handles started rusting, became dull very fast. Don’t let the high prices fool you into thinking their products are of high quality only their prices. Take a chance you could get lucky and get a good one. I’m moving on to a company that stands behind their products.

Great Kitchen Tool

This is a wonderful tool for the kitchen, especially a busy one. Combined with a ceramic honing rod, and you're ready to go. If you have more time, pick up some stones and start learning, otherwishe buy this one!

Sharp

We use this sharpener exclusively for the past year. It works very well and keeps all our knives sharp. We cut meat for a living and this helps take the work out of it.

Save your $

One clarification: this product is not MADE in the U.S.A. as started by Amazon (which is one of the reasons I purchased it), it is ASSEMBLED in the U.S.A. of imported components. As far as its operation, I'm not impressed. A variety of knives from Taiwan, Germany, and the U.S.A. actually came out duller after passing through Stage 3 (the fine polish stage). I try and keep my knives reasonably sharp, and did not have any very dull knives to sharpen. This product will put an edge on a dull knife, but no more. If you are looking for a "razor edge", it seems that the only option is a hand sharpener. Finally, the sharpener left lots of scratches on the side of the blade, which is a bit irritating on a $125 chef's knife. I imagine that painted blades would not remain painted for long. I'm not too sure if I'll keep this product...

They misrepresent the warranty information

Just like all of you, I purchased this Mercer knife sharpener after learning it has “limited lifetime “ warranty. Less than a year later the sharpener stopped working. It ll make a buzzing noise when turned on. I contacted Mercer and after 3 days, they responded saying it only came with a 90 Day warranty. 90 days? Well you clearly stated it had a limited lifetime warranty on your Amazon ad, which is still posted as I type. The agent said it was for knives only. So what Mercer did was attach a “knife warranty “ information to their “Sharpner “ page knowing it was deceit and people wouldn’t pay attention. Don’t take my word for it, just click on the warranty information and read for yourself

Not new product

Buyer beware. I received a non-new item. Obvious knife marks on unit. Metal shavings on the magnet. This was sold to me as unused, brand new. Unacceptable, returned.
