Big hips, no problem!

I bought this to wear to the Renn Fest October 2013. I loved it. For $25 and change, it is excellent quality. I read all of the reviews on Amazon before purchasing. Originally, I bought a Medium and it was too tight. The Large however, was a much better fit for me. Returns were easy. Free shipping on the return made my life better. I received MANY compliments on this dress. And I felt good for the price and time (about 2 hours) spent. MY dimensions: 5'2", 165lb, big hips, C cup, flabby tummy. :) Pros: material was decent; kept me warm while not sweating; was flattering after a few adjustments; easy to wash in the machine Cons: lace and bodice loops are cheap; the green apron looks very weird laying as is; belt was useless; wish it were made for petites so that skirt was shorter Tips: -I sewed the apron into a flattering style so that it sits in flowing waves all around but doesn't bubble out awkwardly. -I made the skirt shorter by sewing around the top of the skirt. This helps the skirt fall nicely on my curvy hips. -The blouse originally hung down a bit on my chest area. I am not used to showing SO much cleavage so I sewed up the sides of the corset so that it pulled slightly higher on the vest. Remember, this is made for a longer, straighter torso. The results made my husband happy. :) -I reinforced the bodice loops with some thread so they wouldn't come off the bodice, yet left it loose enough so that I could shift the loop sizes easily. -I had a pretty cord on hand that I twisted around the ribbon. The ribbon was ok but kept untying itself due to the material. The thick white cotton cord worked well by itself but the ribbon was a pretty yellow and I wanted to use it. The effect was pretty cool. --I am NOT a seamstress on ANY level - my "expertise" includes buttons. But hijacking this dress was easy. My amateur sewing was easy to hide under the vest and corset. I could not have made this dress by myself - not even close to it. And having something like this custom-made is too expensive. With a few "hacks" and some time, this dress was perfect for me. (I simultaneously watched the BBC Elizabeth Bennet so I was entertained.) I am leaving a review a year later because I intend to wear it again this year. This time, I intend to dress it up a bit more - yay for gorgeous braids, ribbons and costume jewelry! I recommend this to anyone, and I hope my review helps someone make a decision to buy this!

Not true to size

Product is smaller than chart indicates. I'm 5'5" 140 lbs. I ordered a large and it was so tight I could barely get it on.

Great costume, fast shipping, got ripped off with the pricing

Pros: I was pretty worried about the sizing - I'm very pear shaped, so I have trouble finding clothes that fit my waistline and super-curvy hips while not falling off my B cups. I generally wear an XL, and the XL costume fits me pretty well even though costumes tend to run a size small. I did have to pin up the material around my bust. It is not made for women with B cups. But all I had to do was loosen the ribbons a bit and it fits my waist fine, and the skirt works for my curvy hips and butt. So pear shapes, if you're worrying, as long as you know someone who can fix up the bustline you should be good. The straps of the corset part conveniently hide the alterations if you put the stitches/pins behind them. The shipping was also very quick, I'm impressed. I received it two days after ordering it. Cons: The belt is useless. The material slides easily and there's nothing holding it in place, so it slides loose when you move. Just toss it. I basically got scammed with this item. I originally ordered it when there was one left in stock and paid most of the $36 balance with a $25 gift card, leaving the remaining $11 to my mother's credit card. (I'm sixteen, just so we're clear, and I gave her cash for the $11.) Someone else had apparently gotten to the last one before me, because when I checked the next day my order had disappeared. Now, if the company runs out of stock they're supposed to hold my order until they restock. Instead they canceled it. (They did refund my gift card and my mom's credit card, so I didn't have to fight them on that.) The next day I checked back and the costume had been restocked, so after double-checking that the cards had been refunded, I re-ordered the dress. Funnily enough, the price had somehow been raised $8. That pissed me off, so I canceled halfway through the order and tried to find another costume. There wasn't anything else within my budget that didn't look like a pornstar's outfit. So I was forced to order this one. But I'm still really annoyed. Cute dress though.

Love this!!

I love this costume. It fits perfectly. Great quality and craftsmanship. The belt was a bit cheese so I just used my own leather belt, but everything else is excellent. It does take a bit to lace up the front. I love this!

Great Value and Versatile

For the price, I truly cannot complain! Nice material. I wish it was two piece or three, as the one piece makes it a bit more difficult to get on and off without ripping something, so be careful when you put it on and take back off. Be easy on the lace as it is super thin and the loops are cheaply made and can pop off with too much pressure. I would recommend to skip every other loop and leave it loose. The belt is super cheap and doesn't stay and you will lose it as it comes undone. What I really love is that you can make this outfit into several different costumes for different occasions. I ordered it for an Octoberfest party at a friends, however, I tried on different boots and added different accessories. What I found out is that it is great as a pirate costume or a wench costume at the Renaissance Fair, or anything else you can imagine. The neutral colors make it so easy to pair up with many things. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is just because I think it would be a better value if the outfit was more than just one piece. Otherwise, I highly recommend it. As far as sizing, I got an extra large per other comments of it running small. I am not a size 6. More like a size 12 jeans. I am 5'5" and about 175lbs with a 34DDD bra size and it fit great. I was worried about the chest and arms, but it is very stretchy material.

Well-designed with flaws

Received this outfit on Valentine's Day! exactly two weeks after placing the order. After reading multiple reviews from both Canadian and USA customers I knew what to expect so I had needle & thread in hand--and used it. I'm 5'4" 128 lbs 29" waist 36DDD bust so ordered the Large. It's roomy at the waist which the lacing and belt will cinch and is supportive at the fullness of my bust but holy cow does it ever gape at cleavage level. I bunched the extra blouse fabric together at the neckline and stitched that so only a tease of the twins is visible. Fearing that the ribbon loops would come loose I ran a line of white glue along the inside of both corset lapels to secure the loops. I exchanged the gold ribbon with tan-coloured leatherette string. I may or may not use the belt included with the outfit but I moistened it and hung it to dry...which took out the wrinkles from being packaged. This is truly an eye-catching well-designed adorable costume. With some TLC it will last for many parties and balls. I'm a little confused that with such attention to detail the designers would use BLACK THREAD to sew a CREAM-COLOURED blouse (see photo). ewww. I still can't wait to wear it out and will update this review with those photos (=

Good product

This arrived very quickly and is very quality for the price. The only thing that let's it down was the belt as as soon as you move it just slips undone. It was really comfortable and looked great.

Sizes don't match

Did not match with the size on Amazon I ordered large and it came through with 10-12 on the package , x large is 12-14. But nice quality costume
