Stabilizes serger
It definitely stabilizes the serger but I noticed no difference in the noise level using this. The suction on this is amazing, cannot slide the serger using this, have to pick it up with the mat to move it even slightly.

Really cuts the noise
Love my serger but not too happy with the amount of noise it generates when I use it on a metal table for classes. This mat changes that. I can hardly believe how much quieter it makes my serging. I keep it right there in my serger transport case and it takes up very little room. Well worth the price, I recommend.

I received the exact one as the item with the labeled Cottage Mills Stay-In-Place mat thats listed for a little bit more. I was hoping it would have been the thicker 1/4" mat as extra cushion would have been great.

Welcome accessory for your serger
If you use a serger, you know how noisy they are. No matter what the brand, they are noisy. And they vibrate, too. Some of the least expensive sergers sound like a freight train rolling through your house! Since I am temporarily sewing on a hollow plastic topped conference table, the sound and rattle of my sergers was getting to be too much so I ordered a couple of these mats. Wow! What a difference. You will notice they are quite weighty for their size and they feel almost like a dense, flexible rubber. The top is heavily textured so when you place your serger on it, there is no slipping and sliding. It makes serging so much quieter and absorbs a huge amount of the vibration. The size is generous and my serger with the largest footprint fits easily on it with room to spare. It also protects the surface of your table if you happen to be someone who sews on the dining table. One surprising feature is that you can stick pins in it. This is fantastic for me. I've never gotten used to wearing that pin cushion wrist thingy and my large pin cushion seems to be always out of reach. Being able to remove pins as I sew and stick them into this mat speeds things up tremendously for me since I pin heavily. If you have a serger or know someone who does, this is a welcome accessory. And FYI, Cottage Mills makes mats for sewing machines, too. I purchased a couple and they work just as well if you happen to have a noisy sewing machine.

versatility and durable
I bought this item to put under my kniting machine. The knitting machines rubber feet cannot move easily on this mat. (which is its purpose) I also use it when I turn my laptop to screen side only. The keys are against the mat, they do not scratch against a table. I'm very pleased with it.

This Works!
I recently purchased one of those very powerful blenders you can make soup with. Great! But the problem was that the 2 HP motor made it dance around my counter. I figured someone probably thought of a solution for that - they did, and this mat is it. Plenty of space for a small appliance such as a blender, just the right amount of thickness, looks like it will last and the surface is designed to keep the item from moving. My blender is now a wallflower.
