This is my second one after five years because it ripped where the back meets the part one sits on.
Though it ripped, I used it a lot at the beach. It is a great alternative to a low beach chair that can be hard to get out of. It is light for carrying. I put a blanket or towel under it because the seat area is narrow.

Dimensions don't match description!
According to the description on the website, this item is supposed to measure 26x21x26. I knew it was probably longer than 26 inches so I wasn't too concerned about that, but figured it was at least 21 inches wide. Upon receiving it, I couldn't believe how narrow it was. It only measures 16 inches wide. I'm not a large woman (5'3", 118 lbs) but I feel like I would be overlapping the edges unless I lay in a completely straight line. So much for keeping off of the sand. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to recline at more than a 45-degree angle. It is a pain to unfold since you have to unthread nylon webbing from a slide adjuster in order to open it, and then re-thread it when it's time to fold it up. There's only one strap of nylon webbing that holds the back up and it looks like it's already beginning to fray. I already own the Picnic Time Beachcomber mat and although it is much more expensive, I feel like it's worth the extra cost. Not only is it wider (21 inches), it has much more padding and you can adjust the backrest anywhere from upright to completely flat. To open, it just requires undoing a couple of velcro straps. The back is held up by two straps on both sides of the frame so it seems much sturdier. I ordered the Coleman beach mat in May and it took almost a month to receive it, so maybe it has been recently re-designed since there are so many positive reviews in the past. The only reason I gave it 2 stars rather 1 star is because if you're looking for a beach mat that might fit in a large suitcase, this one would probably fit. Also, the back is a few inches higher than the Picnic Time, so tall people might find the back a little more comfortable. See my picture for a side-by-side comparison. All I know is that I'm returning this beach mat and buying another Picnic Time beach mat.

Not as comfortable as a beach chair
My back lines up to the bar and is a little uncomfortable. I use it mostly to take my dogs to the beach so it does it’s job.

Excellent for outdoor concerts!
We purchased 4 of these "chairs" to be used at the Capitol Fourth in DC where regular chairs are discouraged (so you don't block the view). They were perfect. We sat on the ground for about 6 hours on these things and couldn't be happier. It was great to be able to sit back a little bit and relax, while having that back support. The little built in cooler pouches are a great plus too. The chairs were very light weight and easy to carry on our long trek. The also doubled as rain forts when we got caught in a 30 minute rainstorm. We had so many people stop by and ask where we found them! Would definitely recommend for ground sitting. Keep in mind the padding on the mat is not super plush, but it was still much better than sitting on bare ground (you can fold the pad for thicker padding if needed). But we did sit for several hours and it wasn't terrible. The length is quite long so our feet were kept off the grass as well (I'm 5' 9" and had length to spare). For what it is- this product is great. Also, if you're concerned about weight capacity, these are sturdy and supported our guests of all shapes and sizes.

Good enough!
I bought this before my recent vacation and it was good enough for me! The other review are right - it is narrow. So if you're a larger person this isn't for you. I'm 6ft tall and a size 12, for size reference, and the width was fine for me. I love the insulated pouch on the back and the carrying strap. Can't give it a full 5 stars because I wish that bar wasn't in the middle - it didn't hurt my butt, but it would be nice to be able to lay flat on this is as well which you can't do with the bar. Overall, a decent value.

Really expected more from Coleman
I DO NOT recommend these mats. Was not impressed with the thickness of the mats. They are ok probably on soft sand or grass but anything harder and there is no padding whatsoever. But I still would have kept them if they hadn't ripped on the very first use. Received these about 3 weeks ago and was finally excited to get to use them last Saturday. One of them the seam completely let go after 2 - 3 hours use. The pictures attached are at about 1 1/2 hours and then then the seam completely dislodged from the chair at about 2 1/2 hours (Second picture). Was also not too impressed with the fact that ice cubes I had put into one of the cooler compartments had leaked during transport and made a good portion of the chair wet. Again I still would have kept them if not for the seam tearing. Will have to return them to Amazon for a refund.

Pratique, mais inconfortable…
Reçu samedi, utilisé dimanche…. Je suis perplexe car je suis plutôt déçue de mon achat… j’aime l’inclinaison et le côté pratique, cependant c’est très inconfortable. L’assise n’est presque pas cousinée et il y a une barre de métal dans le bas du dos…. Bref j’aurais préféré ne pas l’acheter et prendre autre chose :(

Fit in suitcases pretty well
Took them to Thailand bought a small umbrella and just hung out on the beach anywhere we wanted. I scooped the sand under the butt area and it made them very comfortable. The coolers worked great as well

Love it!
Very sturdy. Waterproof. Easy to carry around. Attractive colours. Looks and works exactly like shown. Wish they sold it in pairs of two! And the number of compliments I've gotten on it! Not very heavy to carry around and have used it for 2 years now (2months approx use each year) and love the cooler feature at the back as well.

Funciona pero no es muy cómodo
El producto permite estar recostado en la playa o en el paso cómodamente. Es muy fácil de transportar y los materiales parecen resistentes. Por otro lado, es un poco delgado por lo que personas gordas no cabrían y además, seas gordo o flaco, después de un rato resulta un poco incómodo estar en una misma posición. Si tu presupuesto es muy ajustado es buena opción por la calidad y precio; si puedes gastar un poco más, hay otros productos similares que pueden ser más cómodos -y costosos-
