Time will tell

Took a chance in buying this Silpat Toaster Baking Mat, despite the scary photos and negative reviews, which include suspicions that it is not a genuine Silpat product. The absence of any response or reassurances from either Silpat or Amazon was also off-putting. And I must say that after using this mat twice for fairly low-impact baking — 7 minutes at 400˚(for nachos) — I'm still not confident that it's legit. Specifically, the outline of the mat and a ghost of the mat's internal mesh pattern has transferred to the surface of the new Nordic Ware quarter sheet pan I used it with, whereas the Silpat Quarter Sheet Baking Mat that I had purchased in a reputable local home goods shop, and have used more intensively, has left no marks on the surface of the Vollrath quarter sheet pan I pair it with — too bad it’s a little too long for the Nordic Ware quarter sheet pan. I am not confident that the Toaster Baking Mat will not develop burn spots and wreck my pan, as in other users’ photos, not to mention contaminate my food. It seems odd that Amazon appears to be the only source for this particular item. One final observation: The Toaster Size mat depicted on Silpat’s US website, and in one of the product photos on the its Amazon page, has the number L06 in the lower right corner. However, in another photo on Amazon it has the number L51, and the number on the mat that was shipped to me is P42. Fortunately, its dimensions are as advertised, but what’s up with the numbering discrepancy?

Maybe user error or unsafe product?

So I bought this for the oven and toaster I put them in the oven and they were fine. I put them in the toaster and the photo shows what happen on first use. I had my phone on me and snapped a quick pic. I did notice that the center of the mat was raised a little and maybe made contact with the heating mechanism. I tried again and no fire but I did notice the mat never really sat flat to begin With. Maybe if it’s flat it’s not an issue but apparently the mat was to big for the oven. Maybe there ok if there not making direct contact. I think the fire rating should be hire though your right at the range the toaster oven can get to. Oven maybe their ok but toaster oven they may sit to close to the heating element to use them safely. If your reading this don’t use them unsupervised your first try make sure it lays completely flat if it’s too big send it back. Luckily I was in the kitchen when I noticed it. Imagine if I wasnt? UPDATE. I have since bought another and it works fine. You may need to cut it to make sure it sits flat in the toaster. They do get a little dirty but it’s not an issue. I do recommend these but make sure your watching it the first few times your using it to make sure your not inadvertently putting it to close to the heating elements. After my initial hiccup I’ve had no issues and it works way better than wax paper. I’ve bought more of these since.

Great Function

The functionality is great, but the size was a little too small for my toaster oven/air fryer.

Excellent quality but smaller than expected

This is the same excellent quality as our other Silpat mats but it is smaller than expected. Our toaster oven tray is standard size but this is too small. It could have been a couple inches larger in diameter.

Very practical

I have used Silipat for baking in oven, but this is perfect size for the toaster oven. I noticed a refund was applied for this item, but it was not requested by me. I am happy with Silipat. I believe it was applied to wrong item.

Works well, tricky to clean

I love that this fits into my toaster oven trays and I don't have to cut up a full size one to fit. It works really well, my only complaint is that sometimes I have to wash it a few times or else it still feels greasy.

Amazing!! Dishwasher safe

I bought this in a whim when searching for a new toaster oven. This is an excellent choice if you love your toaster oven but hate scrubbing pans or using miles of tin foil. Like every Silpat, nothing sticks and it’s super easy to clean; I’ve been tossing on the top rack of the dishwasher. The mat is a teeny bit smaller than the tray that came with my toaster oven, although fit may vary based on model. Edit: this thing has been used and washed in the dishwasher about 100 times and is still working great.

A very good product if you use the toaster oven a lot,

Pros: Toaster oven sized, non-stick surface Cons: Price A very good product if you use the toaster oven a lot. I use to line a pan with tin foil which was convenient since you can just toss it after, but foods tend to stick if not oiled properly. It is very easy to clean but it tends to have an oily coating after cleaning and when I store it. One downside would be the price, it is quite expensive for the size but as someone who prefers using a toaster oven it is well worth the cost.

Nothing special

It’s much better than using paper liners in my toaster oven, but it’s no better than the ordinary silicon mat I have also bought, it does the job just as well
