Product not as pictured, installation points are too short
We are in the process of re-doing our entire yard in order to list our house. When we first moved in, we overhauled our yard and bought that cheap brown plastic edging that came in the big roll from Lowe's, and it would have lasted forever, but we wanted something a bit fancier. There must be different versions of this edging, as what I received did not match the photograph. The version I received was not solid - it was hollow, so you see the textured front, but the back is very unattractive. I figured I could live with it - until I put it in the ground. Since it's not solid, it's very flimsy and difficult to pound into the ground. The points bend and are very short (they need to be about another two inches long) and it just won't go in straight. I ended up having to dig sections of dirt out in order to try to get it to go in the ground - which added several hours of work to the project. When trying to pound one section in, the other section wouldn't stay in place and would pop up. I ended up having to add potting soil to both the front and back of each section in order to try to stabilize it. I bought 5 packs to start. Unfortunately, I'm so disappointed with it, that now I'm stuck either buying more of it so it matches, or ripping out all my hard work and starting over with a different product before we start re-seeding the yard. One more thing to keep in mind if you have dogs - my dogs were good about leaping over it when they would run around the yard, until one day one of them hit it, and knocked one section down. That caused a domino effect for the panels on each side. I haven't put them back up while I try to figure out what to do. I've added some photos, including a close-up so you can see the backside, and you can see where I gave up. While it may look curved, this product doesn't really let you do that - I made the circle big enough to where each section is actually straight and the next panel is installed at a very slight angle. The problems we had with the installation occurred on the straight sections as well. I'm guessing the 5 star reviews are for the solid version, which is what drew me to this product in the first place. If anyone got the same version as me, I'd be curious to see if anyone else ran into a similar problem and what you might have done to make it work!

Tips To Make Your Life Easier
First off, this ended up being an excellent product that was easy to install once I figured out the best way. I originally tried to install this border in my landscaping in August. I was using a shovel to try and shovel out enough material to be able to get these border pieces in. I made it through two border pieces and gave up because it was taking forever to shovel out enough hard dirt to be able to get the pieces in. Fast forward to May of the following year and I had already purchased all the boxes of border so I figured I should try again to make it work. This time around I used a different tool and it made all the difference in the world. I used what I believe is a flooring scraper with a long handle and pushed it down into the dirt where I wanted the border to go and then pushed it front to back to make a trench. I then put the border in and carefully pounded it down with a dead blow mallet. The combination of the ground being soft from all the spring rain and the use of a flooring scraper instead of a shovel made all the difference in the world. I was able to put this border in super fast and it looks fabulous. I believe it is a great buy for the price because when it is installed correctly it really does look like a stone border not plastic. I would highly recommend this landscaping border.

What I needed, sort of.
I needed to replace a couple panels and extend the area along my flowers. My original purchase was made locally but no longer available. I was happy to find them on Amazon and placed my order. They are the same style and color but, unfortunately, larger in height and length so now I need another box to complete my project. I understand people's issue with the spikes being too short but I don't have a problem with that as I just pounded them further into the ground. The back of the edging is not a problem for me and my flowers don't mind. However, for anyone wanting a cleaner look, you may want to consider Suncast Borderstone BSE10TG Edging. I have those as borders along loose stone in large sections around my house. They look really nice.

Favorite choice for keeping mulch in the gardens
I've purchased these a couple of times now. If you prep the ground and use a rubber mallet they end up looking pretty good and work well. They do break if you're too rough on them but I like them better than anything else I've found for keeping mulch in place. Much better than those ugly plastic strip borders.

Passable appearence but installation needs extra reinforcement
Doesn't look as convincing as the on-line pictures but is still passable. I used this to contain the marble chips surrounding my back-up generator. Only one side looks like flagstone while the back side looks like, well, plastic. Because of the location and orientation of my generator, I wanted the front and right side to have the 'good' side facing outward and the left and backside to face inward towards the generator. The connectors do not allow this sort of transition. I had to cut off the connectors on the corners where the inward facing pieces connected to the outward facing pieces then drill and connect with sheet metal screws. In fact, all the connectors are rather loose and sloppy and would benefit by the addition of screws for reinforcement and alignment. Depending upon the soil you're dealing with, I recommend you loosen the soil and remove any rocks first. Installation is then pretty easy.

Looks nice, color is more beige IRL
Appearance was the main thing important to me since this was for lining the garden in the front of the house. I think it looks nice and will work for what I wanted. The only hard part is getting it to fit awkward dimensions. The first pack we bought wasn't enough so we ended up getting two more boxes for the other side as well. Since our sidewalk is an awkward length, our options were to create a diagonal line that cut the corner, or to actually cut the plastic. We went for the first option since I don't know how it would look if you had to cut it

Made it through the harsh Canadian prairie winter
Just what we were looking for to separate a glassy area from an area with landscape rocks. Not realistic looking but we have them mostly underground. They survived the harsh Canadian prairie winters and still look great.
