This is a decent quality chair at a good price. It's about as comfortable as any other value-priced office furniture you've sat on. My only gripe with the chair is that the footrest ring will not stay put. No matter how much torque I apply to the set knob, it slowly works its way down the gas cylinder. I found myself readjusting it weekly, until I taped a length of aluminum angle I had laying around to the cylinder as a ring support. Assembly was easy and barely required looking at the pictogram-style instructions. The required hex key is included and all parts were present and accounted for. Unfortunately, the packaging from the factory is inadequate. All the pieces were in a large box with just a single flat sheet of cardboard to keep metal away from plastic. As a result, the plastic trim on the bottom side of the seat was cracked. However, this gave me a chance to try Studio Designs' customer service, which was exemplary. I made one phone call and emailed a photo of the damage, and they quickly sent me a replacement seat (packaged *much* better than the original). Very satisfied.

Maybe okay for taller lightweights
This chair looks great. It was easy to assemble. The padding was nice. This chair just didn’t last long. After the first 30 minutes of using the footrest, the gasket snapped and required screwing the stopper so tightly that it damaged the chrome post. After a few days of use (6-8 hours at a time) the chair developed an odd odor. Others have described this issue with other chairs that use PU leather. The chair also had an awful creaking when shifting weight while sitting (leaning forward and then resting against the back) on the underside of the seat that was annoying to say the least. The padding was ample. The fully-compressed seat height was odd. Since the foot rest no longer stayed on the post, I often felt like my feet were dangling just out of reach of if the chair feet. I am 5’11”, so I’m average height. I had hoped I could use the chair both low and high. I found neither to work due to all the other issues. Finally, the piston gave out after 2 months. I weigh 210lbs. That was the last straw. The chair was disassembled (completely) to see if the creaking could be fixed and perhaps still use the seat. No luck. The construction was such that the wood of the seat base rubbed the metal frame. I tinker, but this would’ve been a waste of time to rebuild. Not a chair for me. It will also be the last chair I buy without being able to sit in it. Measurements and specs are no substitute for a real sit-down.

Nice Affordable Functional
There are cheaper chairs out there, but I found out you get what you pay for. There are also way more expensive chairs out there but you're not going to get the style and functionality that come with this chair. My wife and I shopped around, including the brick and mortar big box chains looking for just the right chair for our twelve year old son who has taken a serious interest in drawing. I had experience in this area being an artist myself. I can say two things about this chair, I wish I'd had one like this from the time I was twelve, and for the price it's well worth it. The chair is sturdier than the cheaper chairs that we found, and it's functional in that it's adjustable and comfortable, and it looks really nice too. If you or someone you know will be spending hours at a drawing or drafting desk, then I'd recommend this chair. I use my son's chair while he's at school. We're are happy with it and we're glad we didn't just settle for any of the cheaper chairs we found. As a parent and an artist you can't go wrong with this one.

Chair broke in three months.
The media could not be loaded. When the chair wasn't broke it was loved by my wife. She says it was comfortable for doing her job from home. ......... and one day she leaned back and .....Pop! That was it.

Very Comfortable Chair
I obsessed on which drafting chair to buy because I didn't want to have to pay return shipping if one didn't work out. Comfort was my top priority. I have super long legs and I was concerned about other chairs that didn't have an adjustable foot rest so I went with this chair and I am really glad I did. This chair is sturdy and comfortable. I don't like the arms as much a I thought I would (they are too high and get in the way of my drafting table) so I took them off. I am a watercolor painter who lives in severe pain in my neck and back--this chair allows me to stay comfortable for a good amount of time. The mesh back has nice support and give and the height of the back is just right. Except for the arms being too tall this chair is a winner.

Chair adjustment assembly failure
Updated: I contacted Studio Designs, and they are sending another cylinder. I decided to change my review for the following reasons. Studio Designs has excellent customer service and every other thing I've bought from their brand has been fine. I have a desk I love and some other things. Unfortunately in these days of global manufacturing, if you get a bad batch from your supplier, all the manufacturer can really do is try to fix the immediate problem, and work on the other side to make sure the next batch has the bugs worked out. Original review: The cylinder failed. We asked for a replacement cylinder from the manufacturer. It has failed again, within less than a year of original purchase. So it seems to be poorly made or made of really, really cheap hardware.

Comfortable back support
I am using this chair in my art studio. It is very comfortable and well-made. I gave it 4 stars for comfort only because I’m very short and my feet barely touch the floor. I would give 5 stars if it would have a lower adjustment position. It does have a lower bar that I can put my feet on. I would recommend this stool.

Nice and sturdy! But....
Not recommended for large size people as the seat part is cuved upwards on both sides which applies pressure on the hips and eventually starts hurting. It would have been perfect if it was not for that.

Great chair for the price
Great chair for the price. Really like how high it extends to. Quite comfy. Very happy with the purchase.

SIDE SUPPORT AT CUSHION ISSUE
SIDE CUSHION SUPPORT HAS HARD INSERT(S) THAT IS UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN GETTING INTO/OUT-OF THE CHAIR

You get what you pray for
Easy to put together, bought it in April, the gasket went last month and one of the legs broke today. I do not recommend

It's fine.
Decent chair for the price. Flimsy back mesh and the footrest slides down and needs to be adjusted daily. Otherwise it's fine for my current needs.
