Solid Construction, Plenty of Torque, and Replaceable Pins
I recently bought a heavy duty chain from KMC, the K710, and discovered my old chain tool/chain breaker was too weak to push the rivet through the chain links. The weak tool was a throw-away from Park Tools that had a tiny handle and the pin bent before the rivet budged. I needed a new chain tool that wouldn't frustrate me and was more durable and effective then my previous chain tool. I purchased this chain tool figuring KMC chain tools should work with KMC chains, which turns out to be true. Long story short, this tool worked beautifully. It is well constructed and feels very solid. The long arm generates lots of torque and while it takes some muscle to push the rivet, it was not a struggle. I really like that the pin is reversible and replaceable, unlike my old tool, so if the pin ever does bend it can be replaced without replacing the whole tool. At $35 it is at the higher end of chain tools, but this worked so well for me I am happy I took the plunge. I also feel like it will last a life time given it is built so solidly and I can replace the pin. In conclusion, sometimes to get the job done you need the right tool. For KMC chains this is the right tool.

My favorite chain tool
I've been using one of these in a shop for about a year now and it's my favorite chain tool and I've used them all. Only downside is I can't seem to find replacement pins although it does come with one. I would just like to have a few on hand.

This is a well made tool that makes shortening or repairing a broken chain easy as eating pie.
This tool needs to be in every bike owners tool inventory, eventually you will need it and you be glad you have it. I will be buying a second one just to keep on my Trike.

Solid and Effective
I struggled with a cheap chain tool and bent some links... that is until I got the KMC Chain Tool. The pin is sturdy and fits perfectly. With a few effortless turns of the well leveraged handle, the pin was smartly pressed out of its seating and I was able to adjust my chain length. This works well with performance chains (mine is a SRAM holo pin chain) as well as other standard chains with solid pins. I wish I got this chain tool prior to struggling with the cheap version.

Awsome
I used another tool like this but way cheaper. After trying to use it the cheaper tool bent and did not.push pin out. The kmc tool worked like butter smooth, sturdy and solid.

Well built chain breaker
Strong chain breaker but a little challenging to replace pins when used on regular links, hard to keep the plate and roller holes aligned.

Pretty stout little chain breaker- decent price- looks like it'll hold up a bit better than those $15 deals- reversible pin with an additional pin if you lose/break the first. Used it on KMC and Wippermann 10p chains. Word of advice for anyone who is going to shorten their own chain- pay very close attention to alignment of the pin to roller and roller to tool plate-support and you'll be be perfect- the only tools I've ever seen break were misused- you can't put the chain and pin in the general area and start cranking down...

Great tool....
I carry it everywhere in my tool pack, wouldn't leave home without it Only ever had to break and re-attach a chain once with various pliers...haha, never again, I have only used this tool 3 times to remove and reinstall 3 chains but its 100% - it just works right. I was going to buy the more expensive 'blue one' I think this one is better - very industrial and well made. Just buy it you'll be signing the same praises after you need it once !

The tool is neat; the lack of pins in North America is not
After breaking one of the provided pin, i discovered that it seems impossible to buy extra pin, either from LBS or from the Internet (at least in Canada). Even directly from KMC, it seems impossible to buy extra pin on this continent. Makes no sense to throw away a valuable tool for such a lack of spare parts that are readily available elsewhere. Go big or go home...
