Use large washers to attach to expanded metal
This product adapts a cargo carrier to a secure bike carrier. One of the issues described in other reviews is a problem with the provided washers being too small. A quick and effective solution is to add a larger washer under the smaller one as shown in the photo. This provides a solid connection to the expanded metal floor of the carrier. Any hardware store will have the needed parts and the cost is only a few dollars. You will need 8, 3/8 X 1 carriage bolts to replace those provided which are too short when the large washer is added. The large washers have a 5/8 hole in them and are about 2" round. You will need 8 of them. Use the provided lock nuts and small washers. Now, these carrier adapters work perfectly for keeping my bikes safe and secure during transport. With this modification I would recommend buying this product.

Solved a problem
I bought a cargo hitch that also has a bike rack that can be added. There's only one like it. I was about to leave on a long road trip but when I loaded the two bikes on the cargo hitch bike holders, I didn't like how it looked and it seemed like it weighed down the entire hitch, which also had a bag of items on it. What to do? I remembered seeing an option of adding bike rack adapters to cargo hitches. So I found this product on Amazon and, amazing, it arrived the same day (I had already been a day behind for my road trip) and I added the racks. I was only able to put one bike on the cargo hitch because of the length of the hitch but, wow, the rack adapter worked SO well. It only has one strap per bike, so I used the second one and a ratchet strap for added security. It was a little tricky getting it screwed onto the hitch but not impossible.

Nice product
I already owned the hitch platform/rack, so the decision to try this product was pretty easy to make versus paying for a whole new hitch bike rack system. I took the advice of other reviewers and immediately replaced the packaged washers that came with the product and replaced them with 1 1/4" x 1/4" steel bars (I cut a three foot piece into 4 sections and then drilled holes in them matching the distance of the screw placement on the brackets large enough to accommodate the bolts that came with the product). I've used the rack a couple of times now at highway speeds and am confident in the rack's ability to safely carry my bikes. The bikes can be easily loaded/unloaded from the rack. The included tie-down straps must be used to secure the bike during transport, but works well. I simply anchored one end around the top tube and the other directly to the steel mesh platform. I did order a 2" hitch riser that I'll add to this system as the platform would occasionally "bottom-out" and scrape the ground when going over a large speed bump or a raised railroad track crossing. The need for this will depend on your vehicle's ground clearance. Still, I would recommend this product. It is great for those already owning the platform and only needing to transport two bikes. I would still consider this system even if I didn't already own the hitch platform as it is likely still cheaper than a quality hitch rack, it will perform just as well, and gives you the platform to use for other purposes if needed. Plus there's the simplicity of this set-up: not many moving parts to break, so it's also more dependable!

Worked ok added a center post for stability.
Used this to haul bikes home after purchasing. To make them secure I added several additional straps. Still felt it needed a center post to make it quicker to load and more stable. Used some top rail and a gate drop pin to weld one up. Also tossed the washers and made back plates.

Nice option other than a standard bike rack.
I bought both the CC100 Cargo Caddy and CC125 Bike Rack as a set so that I could carry my bikes on the back of my motorhome. So this review is for the combined components. The CC100 Cargo Caddy is a bit on the flimsy side, and you have to be careful when tightening down the nuts that you could crush the tubes if you over tighten them. But it will hold 500lbs, so once everything is bolted together it is sturdy enough. The only real downside is the design of the thing allows a lot of movement right-to-left when it is on the receiver. But this is the case with all of these kinds of carriers I suppose. Since my motorhome has a tubular steel bumper just above the hitch receiver, I may likely just put a couple of angle brackets on the ends. I don't fault the manufacturer for this as they could not possible predict all of the various vehicles this caddy might be used with, so they would not be able to add any kind of universal bracket. The good news is that the stands are wide enough for most mountain bike tires, however, the manufacturer suggests mounting the stands on the inside of the tires rather than the outside. However, this was impossible to do with the bikes I have as the stand interfered with the derailleur mechanism. Also, the bikes need to be tied down with at least 3 straps (the kit provides 1 strap per bike), or they will bounce all around. But with both bikes on the caddy, I still have room to slide my 5hp outboard motor (lying down) between them - and that was the whole reason I went with this kind of approach in the first place. Also, as we arrive at the campground, I can buy firewood and just throw it on the caddy without worry.

good bike tire brace
This is a pretty decent tire chalk for bicycles. This works by adding the chalks to any open frame style tow hitch carrier. I own a 60 inch carrier and wanted to use it for my extremely heavy electric bikes. The chalks attach to the carrier via two bolts and that's it. The frame is roughly 1.4 inch metal tubing bent in a oval shape of a tire. My carrier is more than capable of supporting the weight, but the chalks are not as strong as I hoped for. I would wedge my bike tires into the caddy's and then use cargo straps to secure the bikes to the carrier. On mild bumps or rougher dirt roads the tires would wobble under the weight of the electric bikes. When I tried transporting my regular mountain bikes these worked just fine with no noticeable wobble. These would be a lot stronger if they mounted in maybe 1 to 2 more points along the chalks frame. Overall these work for light weight bikes, but not strong enough for electric bikes or fat tire bikes.

Awesome , sturdy
I really love those to add to my platform to hold my bike, i found that only 2 does not do a safe enough for me so i installed 4 for 1 bike as i am alone and that makes it way strong standing and i used better strap to hold it down , as the one provided are the best one

Works well and good value
Product arrived within 2 days of ordering and was packaged well. We set them up on the cargo rack per instructions provided and travelled approx 1.5 hours with the bikes over some bumpy roads. We had a camera looking down on the bikes as we travelled and there was little to no movement in the bikes. The rack worked perfectly. I do have one suggestion that I have also read in other reviews. It would be good to have a 3rd tie down strap included in the box and possibly straps of a little better quality. We decided not to use the 2 straps provided and used 3 ratchet style tie downs instead.

Various Installation Methods.
Easy to assemble, can be installed different to instructions to fit most bikes. Holds bike solidly in place while traveling.

The width of the wheel holders are only 2 1/2 " in width and will not hold a fat tire bike.
The amazon add did not make it clear if you get 4 wheel holders or 2 in the box, as they only show a single bike in their illustration on their site. I ended up ordering two boxes only to find they did have 4 wheel brackets in each box, so gave the other set to my friend. Also the bolts they provided were on 3/4" long and I couldn't fit the washer underneath the screen deck as the screen was too thick and only accepted the nut provided. They need to include a longer bolt 1 1/2" minimum to meet a variety of deck plates on the flat rack. Ideally a thin steel flat iron that runs the width of the steel deck would be a better support than the screen mesh to bolt too.

Works perfectly for our two ebikes.
This works great. They are sturdy enough to hold our two ebikes on our new cargo rack.
