Sturdy and easy to close and carry.

Great. Seems sturdy enough to hold full amount of legal documents. I had about 3/4 full and it fell sturdy enough.

Top won't snap

I would be really happy with it if the top would snap shut. Unfortunately the clear top for pencils etc will not snap closed.

The lid has an odd type hinge but it might work

I opened the lid of the file carrier and my guess is that the weight of the lid simply is a stress on the hinge or the fold area at the back of the lid where it joins the back of the carrier box. It separated on the right side. At first I was very upset and I just nudged it back into the slot and did my best to try and even find the little KNUB, that I guess is a hinge of some kind. I set it aside and mumbled under my breath about yet another item designed using planned obsolescence and went about my day. But here i am again and i had returned to the carrier to take a photo of this odd lid to post here and I ended up having a chance of heart for the time being while I ponder this legal size file carrier. While I began looking it over, I am deciding that I need to put it to the test and fill it and then carry it to see how the lid remains fastened to the base despite not having actual hinges to hold the lid. I am more curious about this design and if it is made this way specifically to have the option of removing the lid altogether and to snap it on later. As if it was made to separate WITHOUT BREAKING, as in a model snap together toy car or a wooden balsa wood airplane that kids use. THey throw it and it comes crashing down and breaks apart but easily assembles again over and over and remains functional. It remains to be seen with this carrier. I would not appreciate the base seperating from the lid while I am carrying it.. TO be Continued.

Poor Build Quality

This item just arrived today. As soon as I lifted the file storage box out of the packing box, the file box was dangling by one end of the lid hinge. I could see that the middle clip was broken on the rear hinge (see attached photo), and that there was a tear in the plastic on the other end of the box (see exterior and interior photos of the tear). I was able to slide the rear hinge back into place, and it is being held into place by the two remaining clips. The whole hinge design is really flimsy, and I don't know if it's going to be able to support the weight of the box once I fill it with papers. It's silly that there is a place for a lock on the front of the box, because if someone wanted to get into the file box, they need simply to unclip the hinge on the back of the box. Yes, I could have returned this item, however I don't have the patience to go wait in line at the post office to send this bulky item back. I'd just as soon use duct tape if the hinge ends up giving out. I just wanted to give a word of warning to anyone contemplating on buying this. The lid hinge assembly is a major design flaw. You should also know that the file box doesn't come with any file folder inserts.

Almost not worth $15

If you need a real one do not buy this one, as stated in other reviews, the lock hole is far to small for pretty much anything, not that it will keep anyone out if they try. Also, the box will not latch at all until you have the hanging metal rod in place I thought for about 30 min before I figured I would try it anyways and I was surprised by the fact that it actually clicked closed but still if you bump it just right it unlatches itself. For the price I am not going to reccomend it at all.

Cheap. dont buy as file storage; buy as "box" with lock holes.

so on arrival; it was alright; everything opens ; sure missing parts(inner folders / dividers) but i just took it as the cost of buying for cheap (bought those elsewhere had to drill the lock hole bigger to fit a standard master lock 2 months later; ive only opened it 3 times . the grey clasp broke off. this thing had been sitting in a closet untouched by anyone but me. I would recommend this as a cheap "box" with lock holes; i would not recommend this as a proper file storage unit.

The file storage shipped and arrived in only a few days. Came exactly as stated and was exactly as shown. I am happy with my purchase. It's easy to use, sturdy, and holds all my documents. In case someone is confused, the hanging file folders do not come with the file container. You must purchase them separately. I would definitely buy again when the need arises.

Great for mobile file storage.

We use several of these for transporting hanging files for various groups to different meetings. The black case keeps the contents confidential. Size is perfect. The little storage compartment on top is a handy feature for pens, paper clips, business cards, etc. We have been using multiples of the same boxes for years and can highly recommend them.
