Bought for a new echo 266 string trimmer. Have only ran for a few minutes, feels balanced and seemed to function like all of the others I have had in the past. I will update In the future after overall quality is assessed. If I have trouble it will be the first of the 4 that we own, this is the only one with 3 strings, all of the others we have hold only 2. I do run the .155 string in the trimmer head so it is maxed out but the string fits and seems to stay in place.

Some good, some problems...
While I like the sturdy construction of the device and the quick change of the wire there needs to be a better choice of spacers. The one I had to use still lets too much of a wobble across the entire weed wacker.

Over 20 years, Best So Far.
About the best I have tried, while it’s true the clutches sometimes lose their grip, once you get it dialed in you’re good to go, I think the pawls can be up or downsized to accommodate larger (or smaller) line if need be, but right out of the box it got with the program. I have to cut rocky terrain a lot so a bump head is impractical, I have used this model (under various mfr. names, for a long time. I think my first one was branded Oregon but the unit remains the same. I wore my last one down to the bare plastic shell, probably three years worth of heavy cutting. While the most recent one I got and used for one season had a clutch start slipping last week, it was a rare inconvenience. While the cost here is almost half of the local one I had to purchase, I couldn’t afford to wait the 7-10 days for shipping, even though I knew it would probably arrive sooner. The clutch assemblies are repairable, the dealer where I bought mine can change them, but I had a few old ones I kept for parts and could easily use the salvaged pawls and springs to get up to speed again, an easy fix. Unfortunately they were lost when my house and shop burned down in the Camp fire of 2018, so I had to go for a new one. It is nice to see a unit like this is actually serviceable instead of disposable, so normally it’d be no big deal to fix the offending holder. I run .130 line, I think moving up a size would pretty much max out the clutches and be a little harder to load and unload, but I doubt slippage would be a problem. As far as reloading goes, once you get the rhythm down it’s a brief process, I use flush cutting dikes to pull out the stub, worst case is when the line works out to the inner edge and then snaps off clean on the outside. Or needs to be trimmed to poke free, I finally figured out a pin drift will nicely shove out the stub without getting stuck. Mounting is sort of trial and error, it comes with an assortment of bolts, adapters and shims that probably cover anything you want to run it on, I have a big Husky and it took a little bit of playing around to find the ideal combo. Well, it’s not really ideal; the final answer left the locknut sort of not engaging the nylon, but it balanced fine and in all my use has never come loose. If I were to become worried about it a dot of blue Loctite would do, but so far that has not been necessary. Anyway, it’s a great unit, it took trying almost every one on the shelf before I found this one but have stuck with it for over 20 years and wouldn’t even consider an alternate.

Junk
Junk with no customer support. Cam's don't securely hold ANY type of line so they fly out. Called customer support, no response from them.
