Great product - non-existent instructions
The other day, I got so frustrated with trying to reload my Stihl Line Trimmer that I just threw it all away and said, "There has to be a better way". THIS IS IT! It's so easy to load and does an outstanding job of cutting the weeds and grass. I told my wife, "This could be one of the best purchases I have ever made". There are lots of adaptors and parts that come with it, so it can be used on a variety of trimmer brands, but THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO INSTRUCTIONS!!! Once again, thank God for YouTube and the people who are willing to share their expertise with us nincompoops. Once I saw which adapter I was supposed to use, and how to put it together, everything fell into place. I just don't understand how a manufacturer can offer a product this good, and fit so many different models, but offer absolutely NO INSTRUCTION. Why couldn't they at least put a QR Code leading to a website that shows how to install it. Very aggravating, but the frustration was offset by the joy of knowing I'll never have to load a standard trimmer head again.

Absolutely the best line trimmer head
I bought this to go on my Makita 36 volt line trimmer. The heads that come with these are not so great. This is super nice, it really actually bumps and feeds like its supposed to and its really easy to load the line quickly. I talked to a landscaper that works in my neighborhood and he had one on his trimmer. He said when ever he buys a new line trimmer he takes the head off throws it away and installs one of these. Awesome speed loader head!

Great weed eater head
Have had the same head for a couple years. It works great. Just bought a new one for my Milwaukee battery weed eater since I didn’t like their head as good. Put the included spacer on and went to work.

Really bad instructions--watch a video to figure out how to attach the new head
As I've only had this on my Stihl FS-310 about 12 hours, I can't speak to its durability or utility. However, I absolutely can say that the directions for installing the Oregon speed-load head are the worst I've ever had to deal with. All the time I might have saved with the speed-load head I think I wasted trying to get my own head around how to attach the darn thing to my trimmer. There is no users' guide included with this product. The only guide is printed on the back of the package. The completeness of that guide approaches what you'd expect of an 8 year-old explaining how an internal combustion engine works: "You turn it on, and go." Additionally, the font-size of the instructions, and the minuscule size of the accompanying pictures, would challenge the talents of any electron-microscope operator. Even with a magnifying glass, the illustrations and "how-to's" are both unclear and useless. In my initial attempts at attaching the speed-head to my trimmer, I discovered that the nuts and bolts included with the Oregon for adapting the head to the trimmer were not the proper size to attach the speed-feed head to the Stihl's drive. All of them were too small, or were designed to attach in a way that did not work with my Stihl. Were it not for a YouTube video on installing an Echo speed-feed on a Stihl trimmer ("Echo Speed Feed Install on a Stihl KM131R," July 2017), I would have sent this Oregon speed-feed back to Amazon. As per that video, however, the key to installing the Oregon speed-feed is to keep the nut from the original "Auto Cut" head. This allows you to easily attach the replacement Oregon speed-feed to your trimmer by using the same attachment nut. To accomplish this, you may need to remove a retaining ring on the original head. I used a pair if needle-nose pliers with a small, straight-blade screwdriver, and the retaining ring easily came out, undamaged. If there is a ring, then removing it allows the old nut to slide out is as simply as the video (above) shows. Note that removing the trimmer line from the speed-head helps you see what you're doing without the line smacking you in the face. Having it out also provides you with a bit of line for a test. After putting things back together, use that bit of line to determine whether the "insert and wind" mechanism of the speed-head works properly . Retaining the old nut is the key to success. Once you place that nut in the attachment hole of the Oregon, and position the plastic bar-like center-piece on top of the nut (orienting it so the plastic bar holds the nut in place; you'll know the center-piece is upside down if the nut flops loose in the hole--you want the nut to sit securely in that hole, under the pressure of that plastic bar and the outer cap), you've just about got things figured out. All that remains is to put the cover on the speed-feed head, and hand-tighten the new head onto the trimmer's drive mechanism. Another point to note is that the spacer included with the Oregon was unnecessary with my Stihl. It's to be expected that some of the included nuts and bolts might not be necessary in all applications, but if Oregon had provided a users' guide the entire process would have been much clearer. Having to search around for a "sorta like" explanatory video is a needless waste of a customer's time. It's also a bad marketing strategy.

You get what you pay for
I've spent half on other trimmer heads and they failed within months. Bought this one hoping for better results.. this one is heavier, easier to load and should hold up well.

Easy to Use, Commercial Grade
I bought this for use with me John Deere T105S straight-shaft trimmer, bought new in 2001(!) and still in use today. The Deere trimmer head was hard to wind, and I upgraded to this. Installation took a few minutes of trial and error, finding just the right mating part to thread onto the trimmer for attaching the head, but there are a bag of these to choose from--that's nice. The head itself is very easy to load with line. The head does make a trimmer heavier, because it's chunky but seemingly built well. I trim 3.5 acres of fences and landscaping, so a trimmer gets a workout and ease of use is important. My only complaint is that in use, there are times that the head makes the trimmer noticeably wobbly; I've found that the solution is to bump the head to redistribute the cut line to equal lengths. All in all, I'd recommend this as an alternative to OEM head assemblies that are expensive and don't necessarily work well.

Oregon easy load trimmer head
I like the ease of loading. The trimmer head is a little to heavy in my opinion! All I’m all it’s a good value for the money!

Worked on my Makita LXT 36v (with a mod)
I took a chance and ordered this for my Makita Trimmer. I was initially disappointed that there was not an adapter that would work, however, I was quickly able to tap the red adapter that came with it, the red adapter insert is close in size to the Makita insert and it tapped nicely. It would be nice if this was a real universal head replacement and if it was I would give it a 5 star rating, that being said, I don't think that it was ever intended to be installed on a cordless Makita, non the less, I made it work.

oregon trimmer head replacement
It is of no value to me because it did not say that it only works on gas trimmers. If i had checked further i would not have bought it. Otherwise i do not know how it works or give a good or bad review of this trimmer. It sounds wonderful and i thought it would be good but like i said, it doesnot work on non gas trimmers.

Didn’t fit my weed eater but
So it didn’t work for my application and I knew it wasn’t going to but I thought I try anyways but it is well built feels like it would last a bit hard to say how the bump action will hold up but from I worked on with it and trying to get it to work on my echo it felt fine and price wasn’t bad either

Only for petrol trimmers.
This head only fits on petrol trimmers as they have a left hand thread. Electric and battery trimmers have a right hand thread as they rotate in the opposite direction. Hmm. Nothing in the ad or in the packet stating this.

Easy loading
Easy install and super easy loading of the string. The weeds don’t stand a chance against this bad boy.
