Excellent for a roll-out wheel
Works great as a rollout wheel

it tightens down just fine.
the jaws are hardened. this chuck is ok. it tightens down just fine. No issues. Actually after getting my back plate properly machined and the Allen screws in, I get .0025 total indicated run-out of a .500 pin gauge no matter where I put the pin in the jaws. Not sure why others are screwing their Chuck up before or during install. It's. The best Chuck I've ever owned!

Wood Chuck
Chuck works pretty well. Every once in awhile the wood falls out or wabbles. If you tighten too tight it leaves marks.

works fine
Nice enough product. Lots and lots of oil in it. I took it apart to clean and found really small finger prints inside (they were rusty) LOL.

Out of the box, this is a hobbyist's chuck at best. The jaws are looser than what i am normally used to, and causes the part to be slightly off-centered when clamped down. If you're looking for precision, this is probably not the one for you. It works for me since the tolerances that i work with aren't very tight.

Works for me
I shopped ebay, Grizzly, MSC and a few other sites looking for a good deal on a 6" 3 jaw chuck. This one met my expectations. I use this on a weld rotator so it's always at a low (<10) rpm

After making the back plate for mine and then mounting it on my lathe. I was happy with a total run out of a thousandth and a half. Not bad for a inexpensive Chinese Chuck. This is the only Steelex chuck I own so I don't know if this is the norm.

1058 Jaw Chuck
It is well built, definitely worth the cash. I could have sworn I clicked for a 3 inch chuck. Oh well. Good stuff, it will work as I need it to. Came well oiled and as described.

Good quality...
Seems like a good quality chuck, but never got to use it as the backing plate I ordered along with it was so poorly machined it was unusable. If you are looking for a chuck for a wood lathe with a 1" 8TPI thread, look at the Baracuda 2 chuck set. This runs very smooth right out of the box (as it should) and seems like good quality.

Tres bien construit par rapport au prix
Petite atelier d'usinage. A demander un démontage et nettoyage pour un fonctionnement maximal .... résidu de fabrication

For wood turning it is ok for the précision, but dont seek for a good tolérance.
Pros: cheap for the price. tolerance ok for DIY wood turning. Cons : You need a backplate if you lathe dont have the same disk for adpate this chuck ( 1'' - 8 TPI treads)

Not usable out of the box
The jaws barely moved when unpacked. Needed to completely disassemble unit to clean out metal swarf and deburr all the components. Chucked worked OK after that.

The chuck is not like a Bison but for the money it is ok
For the affordable price the chuck is worth it to do hobby work . The gear/scroll plate action is rough compared to a Bison chuck but then its 20 % the price. It works for my needs. The item arrived quickly , well packaged and complete.
