Exactly what we needed!

My 75-year-old husband needs a knee replacement but for health reasons will not be able to get one for months, if ever. Getting up out of our sofa caused him extreme knee pain. I added foam to the cushions to make them firmer and easier for him to get up off of but that wasn't enough. We considered a lift chair but the cost is prohibitive and we were concerned that not using his own muscles to stand would weaken them. We realized that if he could have something firm to push against while standing he can do so with little to no pain. This thing is perfect! It's relatively easy to put together, it's sturdy, it's unobtrusive, and it works! Highly recommended for someone who still has enough upper body strength to push themselves up and doesn't want to spend the money or find room for a lift chair.

Not perfect, but close!!!

Update: My mom has used these now for almost two months. Very single nurse or therapist that has come into our home has loved them and why they do for her! We have found this to be beyond helpful. When my mom had a stroke, I had to find ways to help her keep her independence and this has been awesome! She is able to use the tools she has learned in rehab and apply them here at home. I assembled this in 10 minutes or so. It was easy and the build is intuitive. It is adjustable depending on the size of your couch/chair cushion and the height that works best for you. Note: This fits right under your couch/chair cushion. It does not attach to your furniture. Everyone loves it! It makes getting up easier for my mom. It helps prevent skin tears and bruises from people trying to help. It also helps her keep her muscle tone improved because she is not dependent on others to help her stand up. Great price point with overall wrest quality! Very helpful for us and highly recommended!

does the job

This product makes it much easier to get out of a chair, even those that seem to want to eat you! It is out of the way but right where you need it to be. but does not slide around when you use it. It moves independently oz. the chair. I use it on a fabric-covered living room chair. I tried it on our recliner and it worked with that. I would definitely recommend it for those who have difficulty getting in and out of a chair.

Overall I am glad I bought it

It was sturdy and easy to assemble. I used it in my lazy-boy chair. After surgery I needed help getting up and it did the job. The only problem was that the back bar eventually seemed to press against my back. But I am not giving it away because I might need to use it again - and I would use it again.

Not heavy duty

Work well for those less than 140 lbs. the hand pads need to be bigger so person can lean on it to get up. Unless you work out with upper strength the hands pushes are no issues, but most of us are not that in shapes. Improvements is needed.

Game changer! A must!!!

My mother had a knee replacement & had a difficult time getting up out of the chair/sofa. Easy to assemble & was ready in minutes. Game changer so I bought 3. It really makes it safe for her to get up from the sofa with little or no assistance. Very sturdy for a larger person. Adjustable height & weight. Padded hand support for upper body support. You won’t be disappointed with this purchase.

Been a game changer but for larger people the bars by the legs can be uncomfortable.

I like the larger palm pads because they are easy to grab and help sit yourself up as well as push up on.

Badly designed

My first problem is that it arrived late but that was by no means the worst. Whichever way I built this it does not fit my sofa. It is too high to go under my sofa cushions which is ridiculous as it is SUPPOSED to be for low sofas and while I can get it at the right height and width to go over my sofa cushion it is not stable in that position and rides up at the back which could lead to a fall. I am so disappointed because for the price it should be designed to do the job I bought it for.. My only option now is to purchase riser feet for the sofa which will cost me another £60 because I will need 10 of them and my mother will not be able to use this device until they arrive. My other alternative is to remove the extender bar in the feet and get someone to saw that bar off and to the height I require. Again that is going to cost me time and money. Besides the item being way over priced for what it is (bed risers are a fraction of the cost) and given it is going to be used by people with a disability, I could not recommend this product at all. Yes it is easy to put together but that is nothing if it can't be used without serious alterations.

Satisfactory

A little finicky to put together but I figured it out. Even with the screws fully tightened it still feels a little shoogly but it might just need time to get used to. I would definitely supervise whoever is using it at least at first as my mum feels a little unsure about it and I want to make sure it will be steady to support her as she stands up. I think the hand grips could use another couple of holes so you can raise them a little. I am definitely pleased it sits flush with the sofa as I was worried it might stick out like a trip hazard but it doesn’t seem like that will be an issue. A little padding on the hand holds might be an idea but overall I’m satisfied with it.

Really good.

Noticed my husband was getting up awkwardly. This was the only thing online that we could find that would aid him getting up from sofa. It could do with being a but sturdier, the handles wobble a bit but it does the job.
