Perfect replacement

Had to replace unit that was only 6 months old and dripping by another company. This is Much better quality don't cheap out buy the quality one.

Easy and quick faucet repair

I don’t like plumbing repairs, but fixing a drippy American Standard faucet was simple and quick. Turn off one of the 2 supply valves if you have them. If the drip stops, that’s the side to replace. My valve came set for hot side (probably the most likely to wear out) but valve is easily changed to open the opposite way for cold. Mfgr website has video showing how—it’s really easy. While you’re at it, remove and clean the aerator (which also serves as a flow restrictor) at the faucet mouth. When you turn the supply valve back on, test for leaks, then turn each side of the faucet on full to flush rust out of the line. You will be shocked at what comes out but don’t worry. Just put the aerator back on and you’re done. Piece of cake and a great website if you want to see how to video.

Saving a few cents doesn’t make sense

Last time I used a third party replacement and while it did the job it ended up getting stiff and dripping after a year or so. Don’t make the save mistake, get the original.

Works well as direct replacement of factory American Standard cartridge

Quality part which fit perfectly as a direct replacement. Only my cold water side was leaking but I went ahead and bought two cartridges and replaced the hot and cold handles at the same time. I just wish there had been a simple instruction sheet to show how to change the rotation for the hot and cold turn direction, it's not intuitive how to do it.

Fit & worked perfectly

I’ll have to trust Amazon that this is truly an American Standard cartridge since it came in a brown paper bag with no manufacturers markings. Fit & works perfectly but I’ve had poor results with cartridges not make by the original manufacturer so we’ll see if it lasts.

I am definitely no handyman, but I found this fairly easy to install after watching some youtube videos and reading the other reviews. There was another review explaining how to switch the valve from fitting to the hot side to the cold side. It was a life saver. Because I have a friend that owns a plumbing and heating company and had him send a couple of his guys over for some other issues and asked them to help with some other issues. I had already installed the valve but couldn't figure out how to get it to fit properly for the cold side (the handle was working backwards). Even the plumbers didn't know what to do and thought I had to buy a specific valve for the cold side, but I had looked at the schematics and knew that was wrong. After they left, I went back and read the reviews and found out how to do it myself.

Easy Replacement

Fits perfectly and is easy to install. The valve works for either the hot or cold side. This is achieved by removing the clip and turn stop plate and then rotating the valve and replacing turn stop plate and clip as required. Note that for tub fillers valve replacements, this valve does not screw into the valve body. The valve will be held in place by the securing nut that presses down on the valve onto the seat within the valve body. Just make sure you clean this area including the bottom of the valve body properly. Remember to flush any debris out. A bit of silicon grease will also help the valve seat and seal properly.

Exact replacement

This seems to be an exact replacement for the American Standard part and it fits perfectly. A word of warning that you may need other parts if you’re replacing this on an older tap handle that’s been in service for a while. Removing the handle may reveal a worn tap handle adapter (918049-0070A) which goes between the tap handle and cartridge stem. It’s a ridiculously expensive piece of plastic that probably costs less than a penny to manufacture but is vital for the tap to work. Removing the old one from the tap handle can be a delicate job if the plastic has been fused with the tap handle fitting. You don’t want to damage the thin metal but all of the old plastic adapter must be removed before reinstalling the handle over the new adapter on the new cartridge. Once installed though it works like new. Also: this cartridge doesn’t come with a new screw for the cartridge stem. Make sure you keep the old one from the old cartridge.
