Easy to use and setup...wheel adjuster has issues though
Received item new in original box. To set up device I used an 18awg stranded security cable to strip the insulation from. I adjusted the depth stop and after a couple trial strips found a good location for the insulation strip adjuster (wheel adjuster at bottom the mouth of the tool). Every strip was consistent and the tool did a great job every time. The main issue I have with the tool is, the adjusting wheel sticks out farther than the body of the tool. This makes it easy to spin the adjuster, but is a problem when you go to slide it in your tool pouch. I slid the tool into my side pouch and the wheel spins the adjuster. This will have to be reset every time I pull it out of my pouch. Some of my older stripax tools have a slide mechanism on the top that requires a fingernail or a small screwdriver to adjust. This type is harder to adjust, but does not go out of adjustment when slid into my tool pouch. I'll probably need to build up the sides of the tool so the wheel does not spin when slid into my tool pouch. If you are just planning to use this on a workbench or work station, this is a great tool and requires minimal effort.

Soft feel for a German tool
I bought a Paladin, Knipex, Excelite, and a couple of generic Chinese ones Paladin was made in Taiwan Knipex made in Germany Excelite made in Sweden KKMeter made in China FortuneW made in China In terms of feel the Excelite was the best one which had good snap back, followed by a close tie of Knipex and Paladin which were both softer in their spring action. The Knipex definitely had a Germanic price tag to it, I thought it would feel much like the Excelite from Sweden but that one was much better in my opinion. In terms of price / value can't beat the $20 Chinese ones but they definitely don't have a premium feel as a long lasting tool but good for what they are.

Self-Adj. Wire Stripper
Knipex is supposed to be a good brand from what I've read and heard. These did not impress the whole unit is plastic for starters. The rubber teeth in the front of the jaw that should hold the wire during the stripping operation do not hold the wire and slips as the blade attempts to strip the insulation off wire. Why they were made out of rubber I do not know we even tried adjusting the setting on the depth ect with the same results it would pull the wire through the jaw. There was another reviewer that had said the same thing wish I had listened. I would not recommend these they are plastic and feel cheap. I wound up getting my son a pair from one of the big home improvement stores. Those have a hole for each gauge wire and you must put the wire in the correct hole but it works and was 1/3 the price of these.

Very repeatable work but not to 30 gauge
These are very good for repeated stripping of wire. The cut stop is very handy. They claim from 7-32 gauge but I found they were unpredictable with 30 gauge stranded wire. Even with the adjustable cut, one click and it would scrape but not remove the insulation and the next click it would cut through both the insulation and the wire. It might work on 30 gauge solid core wire.

Unparalleled and pure quality
Hands down the best quality of the brands and the ease of use. They are now being copied and will catch a bad rap when they break. I've been getting nipex tolls when my klien or Milwaukee bites the dust and I have no surprises in the longevity and it doesn't rust a bit. These can make a three tool job into it and a crimper to wire an entire air handler for me at least. I always say buy affordable until it breaks then go up in quality but, I have to recommend these on the first tool purchases.

Great time saver for wiring projects
I've been using this tool for about 6 months and it is awesome for most wiring project. You can cut and remove the insulation in seconds. I would say it has doubled my efficiency during elecktchicken tasks which I tend to try and avoid.

Doesn't strip wire all that well.
I have a project that I need to strip a lot of 24 awg stranded wire. I had another type of knipex stripper that supposedly went down to 24 awg but didn't work. It worked very well with 22 awg and above. So I searched for a stripper that could handle thinner wire and lo and behold I found this one that supposedly handles 32 awg and above. So I plunked down the $72 for this tool and Amazon delivered it the next day. I quickly unbound it and ran over to my workbench and grabbed a piece of 24 awg stranded wire and put it in the stripper and squeezed the handle and...nothing! The included instructions were useless so I went online and finally found a printed manual. The orange wheel is to adjust for insulation thickness. I tried several settings until I hit the adjustment limit. I put a fresh piece of wire in the stripper and squeezes and...nothing! So I grabbed a length of 14 awg and again nothing so for all intents and purposes, this thing is just an expensive cable cutter (which does work well).

Not for solid wire!!!!!
My fault I didn’t pay attention that it’s only for use on strand wire. But the one thing I did find a annoying aside from the fact that strand wire will damage the blades is the little red dial on the top it is super stupid and annoying is that every time you stick the pliers in to your tool pouch you will lose the setting every single time. Too much money for a delicate tool.

Works good
Very happy with it. Save me a lot of time. Only negative is that it feels very cheap. So far so good.

Excellent product!
I've had these for about a year and use them pretty much daily. No problems with them at all. Great time savers and usual quality from Knipex.

They are not good value
For The money they feel very flimsy and light weight you can only use the tip of the stripers which is no good overrated overpriced
