Best rear view mirror
Stupid expensive but worth it. The other mirrors bounce all over the place, for some reason this one stays put.

The best backseat mirror on the market!
As parents who choose to rear face our children in the car until at least the age of 2 we have used several backseat mirrors including theBrica Baby In-Sight Mirror andBrica Day & Night Light Musical Auto Mirror . Particularly once the baby/toddler is in a rear-facing convertible seat with a tall shell, I like being able to glance back and make sure that the child is OK. My vehicle does not have a center head rest, so when we only had one child and her seat was in the center, I would install the Brica mirrors but they flopped and slid without having a head rest for support. I could not install the mirror on one of the outboard head rests and angle it so that the child in the center positioned seat was visible, and the mounting method for a seating position without a head rest is crummy. Even when the car seat is in a seating position with a head rest, it's a battle to get the Brica mirror set up properly. You install it, then run to the driver's seat to check if you can actually see the baby or if you need to change the angle, which requires removing the mirror, trying to adjust the angle properly, and re-installing it! It is a frustrating, iterative process. We have been generally happy with our Britax Boulevard 70 car seats for our older daughter and when I saw the Britax mirror I decided to give it a try. Talk about simple! You simply buckle the mirror onto the vehicle head rest using vertical and horizontal straps, then pivot the mirror so that it is properly positioned for viewing from the front seat. There's no need to remove it, adjust it, and re-install it in order to hopefully get a good view. The mirror itself is clear and undistorted. It has installed very easily and quickly in both my 2010 Chevrolet Equinox and my husband's 2001 Toyota Camry. Right now our 3 year old is forward facing but I use it to see our new daughter who rides in a Chicco Keyfit 30. I've appropriated the Britax back seat mirror that we already bought and we're ordering another one for his car. The price point is comparable to the Brica mirrors but it is much easier to install and use - it's a no brainer! Note: we are well aware that CPSTs are supposed to tell you that these mirrors are a bad idea because they can become projectiles in the event of an accident, and that they can distract the driver. We have made a parental decision to use them anyways. Frankly, in the event of a major collision I have much bigger concerns than the possibility that a backseat mirror will come loose! Also, I have never found the mirror distracting since I peek back only when at a stop sign or light.

The Duct Tape Fix
I have to agree with everyone else who is saying that the ball and socket joint that allows this mirror to be placed at an angle is extremely loose. The thing that sold me on this mirror was the fact that it could be securely fastened to the seat's headrest by two clasp joints, and not flimsy velcro; and the fact that it could be angled. The two clasps that wrap around the headrest vertically and horizontally are great. I haven't had any trouble with the straps coming loose (if they do start to come loose, I'll probably just get them as tight as I need them, then put a safety pin right below the clasp so that the straps can't slide loose). The ball and socket joint that allows you to angle the mirror is NOT great! It's way to easy to bump the mirror when you're putting the child in their car seat...of course, I didn't usually notice the mirror had been bumped out of the right position until after I'd get in to drive. If, on the off chance you DON'T bump the mirror out of the right angle, it will be happy to move out of the right angle itself during the drive. You really don't even have to hit a bump in the road to cause the mirror to start pointing downward, so that all you can see is the child's feet. I like the mirror, for the most part, so the easiest fix for me was to put it on the headrest, get it in the perfect position (this is a 2 person job, unless you want to run around from the front seat to the back seat a million times), then duct tape it at the ball and socket joint. It's easy to get it out of position even while you're applying the duct tape, so it really does take two people to do this--the person who normally is driving the car, and someone else in the back seat (of course, I did this in my driveway, not while driving!). Ever since I duct taped the mirror's ball and socket joint, I haven't had an issue with it getting out of place during a drive or bumping it out of place when I put the child in her car seat. Also--a plus with the duct tape method is that if you need to move it from one side of the back seat to another and re-angle it (or to another car completely), you just take the tape off and re-tape it once you get it in its new location (I saw some reviewers say they were going to try super glue!). I haven't had an issue with the actual base of the mirror sliding down on the headrest (it has a sort of rubbery type backing on it that helps it not to slip) or the straps loosening themselves. I realize that they can't make this ball and socket joint extremely tight, because then you wouldn't be able to adjust it, but they really don't need to make it this loose! Oh, and a plus with this mirror is that it's (supposedly) shatter proof, instead of just shatter "resistant."

Baby loves this as much as parents do
This little mirror is one of the few items that falls into "my favorite/most used baby items" list. As a first time mom I have bought an unbelievable amount of stuff. Mostly stuff that we hardly use or wasn't as useful as I originally thought it would be. That is not the case with this mirror. Let me tell you what I love most about it: - securely fastens to the headrest on my CR-V - no worries that it will fall off onto baby - mirror does not have that distorted look to it that some baby mirrors do - seems to be made of quality materials, it looks really hard to break - baby loves watching us/herself in the mirror. More on that below. - It is incredibly easy to see baby from the front seat (except at night of course). As much as I love this mirror, it seems like the baby loves it even more. She frequently looks at mom and dad in the front seat through the mirror. She also loves to make faces, play peek-a-boo, or just stare into the mirror. I hardly ever have to put toys in the car seat with her because she is so easily entertained by the mirror (she is 11 months old right now). When we went on vacation we did not bring the mirror and there were more crying fits in the car than she has probably had in her entire life. I really believe it was because she didn't have the mirror for entertainment and she couldn't watch mom and dad. If I sat in the back with her, she was fine. For under $15 it is worth trying out this mirror, I am sure you will love it!

Ehhhh
Good product, but the carseat should be in the middle of the backseat so if you don't have a head rest in the middle.. this is not for you

Gets knocked out of place every single time
Bought two of these. Works great for my daughter who is in an infant bucket seat and she cannot kick the mirror and I also don’t need to reach in and adjust her (so it doesn’t get knocked). With my son, it is terrible. He is three years old and rear facing and I knock it EVERY single time I put him into his seat. Then I forget to adjust and it is completely pointless. He also can easily move it with his foot and continuously does so. The mirror was totally useless for him. So I got rid of it and bought the JJ cole one that completely stays in place although it’s jot as clear. But i simply want to see if he is sleeping or not. I kept the Britax one for my daughter as I’d like her to be more clear. But I would never recommend this purchase and will need to get her a JJ Cole mirror as soon as she is in a convertible car seat.

Does not stay in place
Very difficult to get it to stay! I've been using it over half a year and had to readjust so many times. It drops all the time because it is so heavy. After lots of tightening it still doesn't stay in place. Every few weeks I have to redo the whole contraption. I ended up orienting the mirror vertically so it sits on the chair back. We'll see if this stays in place. I definitely prefer my brica mirrors.

Almost perfect... make sure your rear headrest lifts up
It's a great mirror - probably one of the best on the market given its size; however, there is a downside. The problem is it requires a strap to go underneath the headrest and in my vehicle (BMW X6) the rear headrests are fixed. I'm not able to feed the strap underneath so we had to MacGyver a makeshift solution in order to use this mirror. Update: we have now moved the mirror into our second vehicle and it works wonderfully. I am giving this product a 4-star given its one fault but otherwise this is probably the best mirror on the market.
