Cleans white vintage linens beautifully.
I used Retro Clean to clean some lovely white delicate cotton baby gowns about 100 years old. The clothes were apparently stored clean and ironed but time had discolored them to a dingy yellowish gray. A trip through the washer lightened them only slightly. I heated water in a 12-qt pot on the stove, dissolved Retro Clean in the water according to directions, turned off the burner, and added the clothes and let them soak. Amazing! Within 45 minutes they were sparkling white! What surprises me is that this product whitens fabrics on which I previously used chlorine bleach with little to no result. I had a couple of sets of my grandmother’s white placemats which I treasured because of memories of all the happy meals at her table. They were dingy and some stains just wouldn’t come completely out despite the use of chlorine bleach. I soaked them for several hours in Retro Clean in a pot on my stovetop (the product works better with heat so this allowed me to reheat the solution). The stains all came out and my placemats are white again. For very stained fabrics users recommend several soakings, rinsing the fabric and changing the water with Retro Clean after the first half hour or so. It’s important to keep in mind that like Clorox, Retro Clean is a bleach. Clorox bleaches with chlorine and is very harsh, while Retro Clean is a peroxide bleach and is much gentler. Thus you should monitor colored fabrics, especially older ones which might not be as colorfast as modern fabrics, for changes in color. I used Retro Clean on tomato sauce stains on my son’s bright blue tee shirt. It did take out the stains, but the soaking water turned very, very blue. Color was removed uniformly so the tee is just very slightly lighter in color, but it removed the tomato sauce stains beautifully and the shirt still looks fine. Because of this experience I plan to be very careful when I use Retro Clean on my antique quilts; probably I won’t soak them for more than 20 minutes.

It works! Treasuring my Mom’s wedding gown from the late 1940’s.
My Mother’s wedding gown was in horrible shape. I soaked it for 24 hrs. Changed the water soaked for another 48 hours. WOW! It was starting to turn white again. This gown was made of silk satin, from the late 1940’s. I then put in my washer that DOES NOT have an agitator. Delicate cycle w extra water & rinse cycle using Retro Wash. I couldn’t believe it. So much brighter, & whiter. I will do this process again. When the weather is warmer. I used garden hose cold water, large tote w lid, for soaking, outdoors. The Retro Clean did all of the work. Retro Wash is available on Amazon. ( I already had this. )

The Most Powerful and Gentle Fabric Cleaner in the World
This product has saved so many of my clothes considered to far gone to save. We had a white suit jacket which was almost dark gray from age and dirt over twenty years. Our dry cleaner said it was trash and could not possibly be cleaned. It took several soaks and time, but eventually this "piece of trash" was restored to its glorious bright white without compromising the fabric strength. And this is only one of the many instances of how well this product has worked for us. It is the secret weapon of cleaning!

A miracle
I wish I could have taken a picture of a before and after. This product is amazing. After a couple of hours, a 23 years old baptism outfit came back to its original white color. Very surprised with the results.

Amazing!
I used this magic stuff to bring the quilt my Mom made me back to life! The white material had turned yellow in spots after I had it stored for several years. I followed the directions and the yellow is gone! The quilt is just as beautiful as the day she gave it to me!

Magical
Totally magical product! I have the baby blanket that my mother used for me and my siblings, which is more than seventy years old and was quite stained. I tried several products for cleaning it, but nothing worked. A friend recommended Retro Clean and the results were remarkable. I mixed it with warm water following the directions and immersed the blanket. Although you can soak your items for 48 hours, the blanket was perfectly clean in one hour! Before cleaning, there were areas that were frayed and worn. These were not harmed any further by the soaking. I ended up pulling out a bunch of heirloom table covers that also had yellow spots and soaked them overnight. You can see from my photo how wonderfully white they came out. This is definitely a product that will have a permanent home in my laundry room!

Worked perfect on a 50 year old quilt
Both quilts are about 50 years old, and made from scraps, muslin and probably an old sheet on the back. The Left one actually started out a bit more yellow, but now has front repaired, new binding and a 2 day soak in Retro-clean. Worked perfect.
