Great machine, needs a couple of improvements.
This machine is probably as good as it gets for a non automatic device, with the following suggestions: The built in work light is useless. Not bright enough. I installed an auxiliary goose neck work light so I could illuminate the work area. Also, the enclosed manual, is near useless! If you need help in understanding the use of this machine, YouTube is your best resource. Once you learn the techniques, you can bring an old chain back to better than new condition!

Good Oregon Saw sharpener. This one instead of the 520.
I have been sharpening chains with the 620 now for a few weeks. It works well. Can sharpen a 24 inch bar chain in about 5 to 7 minutes. During firewood season Ill dull 3 to 4 chains a day. There was a little confusion initially with respect to which stone to use for my Oregon chains, but got it worked out with one of the included stones. I did have a little issue with the power switch initially. It was not turning on. But then started working. So hopefully this will not be a reoccurring issue going forward. I will say the quality of this chain grinder has diminished now that they are made in Italy. When they were made in United States they were better build. You could see the difference in the quality of the castings and the workmanship on the product. The product price was not so much of an issue for me, but the quality of the product is the most important thing for me. This is the last chain sharpener I want to purchase. As I expect this thing to run flawlessly for me for the next 30 to 40 years. Or so I hope. That is why I choose the Oregon brand. I hope I did not make a mistake and will wish I had purchased the Stihl USG. Some saw shops promoted the Oregon sharpeners and others the Stihl products. We will see. One very important and useful feature on this 620 over the 520 is the hydraulic clamp. Spend the extra money and get this feature. It dramatically speeds up the sharpening time per tooth. Good luck with your sharpening.

Worth every cent!
One big downside to the 620-120 is that it will show you how bad you really are at manually sharpening a blade. My only minor complaint is the instruction manual, just go ahead and throw it in the trash and look up videos on YouTube. After watching a couple of videos I went back to my shop, made a few adjustments and the my first chain came out so sharp it could cut my fingertip. The time savings alone is worth it, but with bursitis in both of my shoulders the savings in pain was even more valuable. Go for it, you will not regret it. Remember: Buy the best tools that you can afford and you will save in the long run.

Great unit with a couple minor design problems.
Have been sharpening chains for many years. (starting in 1968) Have used several different grinder units with many differing stones or diamond wheels. This unit does a great job with the chain. I like the accuracy of the grind after proper setup of each chain to be sharpened. I have been running a Stihl USG grinder for the last several years with great success, however the Stihl is a left handed grinder and the Oregon is right handed so I have some adjustments to make in how I do things. Biggest complaint is visibility. The wheel safety guard covers so much of the wheel that visibility to what you are doing is severely limited. The low wattage integral light is pathetic at best as it is hidden completely inside the wheel guard. The light is too dim and the grid covering the bulb restricts most of what little light there is to get to the chain. The second light issue is that the light cannot be used for initial setup as it can only be turned on when the motor is spinning. I know of no one that makes the initial adjustments for a chain with the motor running - we all do it static to get to a close setup and only very minor adjustments are made with the wheel turning. The light needs a separate switch. Mine will soon along with a change from incandescent to LED bulb for a much higher lumen count while staying below the max wattage rating. Overall this is a great chain grinder and will be serviceable for me for many years to come.

Great product - HORRIBLE DIRECTIONS
I purchased this 5-star product knowing that the instructions were marginal at best-hence the 4-star rating. CAVEAT: DO not use the numbers in the manual or video, USE THE SET-UP NUMBERS THAT COME WITH YOUR CHAIN! I own all of the commercial saws, at least one of each, that Stihl makes so I am speaking from experience and understand the value of chain conservation since I buy chain by the spool. In short, once the tool is set up I can run through a 36-inch full comp chain in 3 minutes due to the hydraulic clamp and produce out of the box results. I would also suggest using a Timberline sharpener out in the field since this tool provides consistently repeatable results and is hands down the best in-between machine sharpening tools on the market. I hear many folks moaning about the price, but if you have this 620-120 electric tool, you should invest in a CNC machine tool with a carbide cutter that only enhances the machine profile, unlike a hand file that never cuts the same way twice. Invest in CBN wheels and play frisbee with the useless pink wheels... A little about the whining about plastic and parts I keep reading about: 1. The plastic pieces are ABS plastic - Football helmets, select chainsaw parts, car bumpers, Hard hats etc, are made from it. 2. Cheap handles, parts, and fitment issues are usually related to operator error and improper mounting methods. 3. Poor instructions - Oregon as well as many other youtube channels can get you through the process. 4. This machine is used in many commercial shops and operated by someone who has to bang out a lot of chains. 5. You did not buy the $1,200 version - Quit thinking that this machine is that version. 6. Due diligence on your part makes this machine perform like the $1,200 version 7. Rocks, nails, spikes, fence wire, etc damage your chain, this is where the economy of grinding must be embraced. HAVE FUN - WEAR YOUR BUGEYZ- SKULL BUCKET-AND CUT PANTS

The hydraulic locking system
For a manual operation saw chain grinder, I find this machine very useful n easy to operate. The hydraulic locking system works great as you don’t have to worry about a handle to tighten n loosen the chain lock. Good value as I sharpen 7 foot long chains for a local pallet making shop near me

average quality
Not what I expected for a name brand product! Quality is average to low. I doubt it is made in the USA. First of all, there is no lock to keep the shaft from spinning when attaching the grinding wheel, they do not mention this in the manual. The motor is not reversible so you will have a burr on one side of the chain. Not a very professional grind. I did not send this product back, as I didn't want to bother with a knock off model for less than half the price.

Grinding wheels were broken in the box from transportation.
I am super excited to use the product, but I can't the grinding wheels arrived with cracks in them and need to be replaced. Until then I cannot use the product. I can update my review when the new pieces arrive and I use the tool. It's an expensive purchase and the fragile parts should be better packaged.
