A good oximeter, consistent numbers with other Smart Guesser oximeters but...
When it comes to devices to have in the house for health-related reasons, one should have an Oximeter along with a thermometer and also a way to take blood pressure in their home. I feel these are important. So, how does an oximeter work? Quite easy, just put your finger in a slot and the device can detect the efficiency of oxygen in one’s blood and also small changes. This time I am reviewing the Smart Guesser Fingertip Pulse Oximeter (PC-60A). This device utilizes two AAA batteries (included). The device is great for healthy, sports enthusiasts or those who have gotten sick or taking new medication and want to measure their SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation levels), and pulse rate with a bar graph. But just put your finger in, click on the button to turn it on and just keep it in there for a mount 30 seconds to a minute or more to monitor your pulse and oxygen saturation. It’s easy to use. This one is more of the type that doesn't stop. Just take the record and write it down. The screen is easy to read thanks to the device’s OLED display. Now one thing I have to emphasize, I’ve tried different Oximeters and many are close to each other, most often not the same. In fact, if I had five oximeters, I would get five different readings. So, if they are close to each other, that’s good. If one is too far from the others in reading, then probably not good. So, oximeters…there really is no accurate one and best to have another to ensure that it’s correct or similar to each other. But it’s always said that oximeters tend to produce a 2% difference (+/-). 95% is normal but if lower than 92%, it’s something to keep an eye on and also possibly contact your physician. I will say that I do have two Smart Guesser Oximeters and both were exactly the same. Compared it to a non-Smart Guesser Oximeter and they were also very similar. But is this the Smart Guesser Fingertip Pulse Oximeter to get? The Smart Guesser Fingertip Pulse Oximeter (PC-60F) is much better because it knows when to stop (you get a beep) and gives you the final results. This one does not. It does feature a backlight display with large numbers and has a simple bar graph that displays your pulse oximeter Spo2, Pulse Rate results. The pulse oximeter also has two directions of display to choose by press the button, but I do prefer the PC-60F much more! And the F is a little cheaper than the A version. Overall, I do recommend the Smart Guesser Fingertip Pulse Oximeter (PC-60A) but please note to do your research as the oximeter industry is quite competitive and you can find other versions much cheaper.

Easy to Read, Pretty Accurate
4.3 stars (standard rounding rules apply) In our home we have an asthma kit which includes my kiddo's inhalers, allergy meds, cough drops, and other other emergency things that can help them should they have minor, or major, issues with their breathing. I figured this would be a great add to that; mostly so if there are breathing issues we can monitor their oxygen level to gauge the need for immediate care services or not. This was a great fit for that. It is easy to read, and gives a quick and pretty accurate reading. It does state this is not meant medical care, which is not uncommon for these items. There are four different ways to view the readings. Compared to another reader we have in the home, this one is a little harder to fit correctly to get the reading. Once we get the finger right, it all works perfectly. Another issue I have found is that it is quick to shut off, so if you are looking to track it make sure you write down prior to taking the finger out of the reader. Something else that is cool, but definitely kills the batteries, is that it senses when it needs to take a reading. Overall, the price point is great for this product which is comparable to other similar ones. I would recommend it for anyone wanting to add this to their first aid kit, or for sports use.

Overall, good.. But some features make me wonder
What you get.. The oximeter, 2 AAA alkaline batteries, a lanyard that attaches to the back of the oximeter, a felt bag to carry it in, and a manual. They do sell a version with an F at the end that stores a certain number of past readings, if that is something you like.. To me, it is completely useless and pointless. One thing that I question is how long the batteries will last.. The reason is, since every time you put your finger in it, it automatically turns on.. This means, it will have to have a sensor going 24/7 to keep checking for someones finger, which seems to me that it would slowly drain the battery over time. I am not counting this as a bad thing for 2 reasons.. First, if say you are a nurse and are using it 12 times a day going to peoples houses, this eliminates the hassle of having to turn it on for every single patient and time you use it, which could be a good thing. The second reason is because, since you can use rechargeable batteries in it with no problem, it will cost you next to nothing in batteries putting them in it, vs disposables. I have used some of these devices in the past that you have to play with the rechargeable batteries to get them to make a connection to use the device, if you chose to use them.. One nice thing about this one is that you can just put them in with no playing or messing around to get them to work.. This is good. One thing that is missing that some would consider bad, some would not care about.. Some that I have gotten in the past of other models had a silicone cover over the device to help protect it.. This one does not have one.. All personal preference here. With a simple click of the button, the screen will flip over from your view being upright, to someone you are facing being upright, and it being upside down for you.. This will make it easier to read if someone else is monitoring your readings for you. You can see an example of this if you look at the picture with the PI reading on it.. I have it flipped in that picture. If you hold the button down for a couple of seconds after you get your initial reading, you will get a screen that shows your PI rating.. I have never heard of anyone really using this reading, so for most people, this feature will be useless.. Comparing the readings with another brand that I know is fairly accurate, this one was very close to the same readings.. You can see it in the photo. Overall, all the things that I would have any complaints about are all based on personal preference, so there is no reason to deduct any stars for any of them.
