I haven't used yet - but they are pretty standard. I'm sure they will work for what they are designed for. A good tip for die cutting machine pads is to use the same pad ALWAYS on the bottom for cutting. That keeps your top plate in good shape. Then when it's time to replace your bottom plate you move your top plate to the bottom and put a new plate on top. An easy way to make sure you know which plate is bottom (or top) your decision is to use a colored plate for one of them. You can also write top and bottom with a magic marker. Your plates will last longer this way as you only have to replace one top plate and you still have the 2nd for next time.

Color

I didn’t get mint, I got blue. The color wasn’t really a problem but I did want variety. Clear cutting pads are difficult to “find” while using sometimes. Besides being easy to see and find, one tip I found was to use a clear and a colored cutting pad together so you remember which to use as the base and which is the “cutting” pad. The pads quickly get scared, doesn’t effect the cutting efficiency but can cause bowing.

Great product!

I bought these same plates about 2 years ago and am still using them. I recently got another Big Shot so I wanted another set of these plates. I use the colored plates for die cutting only, and the clear ones for embossing only. I also rotate & flip the plates often so they don’t warp. They are pretty scratched up from the dies, but still work great. Since I use the clear plates for embossing only, they are scratch free!

Great Idea

I truly like these blue plates. I ordered a set of clear and blue. I use the blue plate on the bottom and the clear plate on top. This way my bottom plate takes the impression marks and the top plate is smooth and it keeps my paper smooth. I also end up with two sets of plates. I read this from another customer and it is a great idea.

The color is nice - I like to use a colored cutting pad and a clear one for my sandwiches. It makes it easy for me to remember without looking more closely which one goes on top and which one on the bottom. I have made the mistake of using the pad that all the dies have been cut into on the top of the sandwich before - all the little cut lines transferred to my die cut - sucked. So I use one color for the top and a clear or different color for the bottom. When the bottom wears out I just move the old top to the bottom - that way I keep rotating the pads out oldest to newest.

Easy to find!

If you craft like I do then your creative space looks like a bombs gone off. I love these colourful plates as they're easier to find in the mess than the clear ones.
