So much better than plastic values
Learned long ago to use brass not plastic values and this is the best known brass. Been using them for a while. I even have a rebuild kit and I’m going to try it on the one I’m replacing. We have hard water here and the o-rings Do decay over time. Would warn you NOT to remove the solenoid ever. I did that on the one I’m replacing and it never worked automatically again. I tested everything and used a Orbitz replacement (which is different) and then tried again with an identical solenoid and it still won’t run automatically so I must have burned it out somehow (works perfectly on manual). Also be careful with the screws around the edge (hold in the diaphragm) as if you adjust them it will probably always have a tiny leak. But way better than anything else out there and I’ve been doing my own sprinklers for 30 years.

Great but...
... you might find you have to return one (or two) of them back to Amazon - as I did. One of valves leaked out of the box. The replacement was great - but it was an issue.

You pay more you expect more, but does not last
I have been switching out all my plastic ones over the past few years to these brass units thinking since they cost twice as much and are brass they should really last, wrong, the last one I put in only lasted 6 months and is leaking, plus these are horribly hard to test, the test screw is sooooo tight and it needs to be or it leaks, I have another one that I cannot get to stop even with channel locks

Great product
I have used these valves for many years and will continue to do so as long as they are available. However, My last order of two was delivered with one package seriously mangled. Thankfully the valve was not damaged.

We have used these valves for a while, and usually have no problems. On the last two that we ordered however, both started to leak from the diaphragm within two weeks of being installed. On one, we just had to tighten the 8 screws and all was fine. This valve I had to replace the diaphragm as it was bad. Fortunately, I keep rebuild kits on hand.

metal seems to last longer than plastic
just what I was looking for.

3 out of eight valves leak
I purchased these hoping for better reliability than I have gotten from plastic valves. What I got is the reverse. Three out of eight valves leak past one of the eight screws that connect the top cap of the valve (with the solenoid and flow control knob) to the the bottom of the valve. I have taken the top off and made sure there was no debris. On one of the valves, that worked for a few weeks, but it has started leaking again. On another valve, I found a scratch on the surface next to a screw hole. I used super fine sand paper to try to reduce the depth of the scratch and that seemed to work for awhile then it started leaking again. Note that the leaks started immediately after installation. Yes, I tried tightening the screws before trying anything else. These are very expensive compared to plastic valves so I believe I had a right to expect they would be far more reliable. Instead, they came out of the box not functioning properly.
