Quite Sharp

Out of the packaging, I found these seam rippers to be quite sharp and work well. Not having used them extensively, I can't speak to their longevity, wear and tear, etc. This 'SINGER Comfort Grip Seam Ripper, Blue/White 2 Piece' set makes for a good companion to the 'SINGER 00264 Polyester Hand Sewing Thread, Assorted Colors, 24 Mini-Spools' sewing kit that I also ordered and came with a resealable bag in which to keep the sewing kit. With either of these seam rippers, you don't need scissors to cut thread.

What do you say about something like this, it does what it’s supposed to. They have nice caps if you don’t lose them.

So far like everything about it. Hate to say I have to rip seams become I’m such a great seamstress…. But sometimes I just do and this one is good. Would like better if I could stick the cover on the back. I’ll be losing that soon I’m sure

Cap is loose, slides right off, & no way to attach to other end

I had assumed with a name like Singer on it, it would be a product that is well-designed for people who sew. But, the cap on large one slides right off, with no place on other end to store it, so it has no protective cap, falls off in sewing kit, with point sticking out. Not great if you have it stored in a plastic bag in the sewing machine, as it can poke holes. The cap on small one just barely holds onto it, not even a click when it's in place, comes off way too easily, and like the other one, not thoughtfully designed, as no place on other end to stick the cap (you know, as with good design of Bic stick pens) so you don't lose it. The grip is nothing special. Sad how a decades-old brand name gets used on this nothing-special seam ripper. I will buy stuff like this in person from fabric stores in future, where I can handle it, not online. I bought some Singer scissors which are pretty nice, not top-of-line German ones, but decent. And I have good memories of the old Singer machines, made with metal parts, not plastic, built to last many decades. Oh, well. These seam rippers do work, and though cap and handle are nothing great, the business end seems to be good. I guess that's what matters most, not whether you stick your finger on cap-less point tool when reaching in sewing tools bag. Just kinda curious who makes well-designed seam rippers & similar tools nowadays? German brands, or does Husqvarna make one? It seems like a little thing, but it's nice to have really good tools, when you work with them a lot. Maybe I can make my own cap for it, and dip the handle in cushiony tooldip?

One broke within minutes of using it.

Got a two pack for the value, but one of them broke after a few minutes. Will be returning.

Nothing beats the old Singer (or any other brand) seam ripper

I like the ergonomic design. It is easier to grip than my old Singer ripper which I've had for over 30+ years. The one major flaw is the cap. With my old ripper, I could just cap it on the other end. I'm sure, as others have reported, it will eventually become loose and get lost. The other concern is it doesn't appear to be as strong (durable) than the old--but what is nowadays. I somehow managed to break 2 seam rippers in the last couple years, so I'm hoping this will last longer. I fix the hems on my son's and daughter-in-law's pants/jeans and other repairs, so I need something durable. It remains to be seen how long this ripper lasts.

I was ripping apart piping on upholstery and broke several seam rippers. This one was larger and stronger and able to get through the task quickly.
