Must have auto body tool

The butt vs. lap weld debate will never be resolved but if you are in the lap camp, then you must have this flange tool. You can put a consistent and even flange on thick gage, vintage auto sheet metal effortlessly. The hole punch went through 16 ga. fender and p/u bed metal with no problem using a small pancake compressor.

Large whole, very close to the edge of the metal

Punches a 5/16" hole but the hole is less than an 1/8" from the edge of the metal making it hard not to burn through the metal when welding

Quality tool.

The punch depth is a little disappointing. Seems powerful enough but doesn’t really get too deep into the piece of metal you’re working on

Sunex SX6210

This tool uses a high volume of air and doesn't seem to have the horse power to drive the cutting wheel on metal. The cutoff wheels supplied with the tool are terrible. I have ordered some cutoff wheels that I hope are better. Had to order cutoff wheels, as no hardware store or tool stores have the 1/4 inch shank wheels. I tried cutting some plastic sheet too and again the horse power just isn't there and the tool bogs down. Again, just hoping it's the cutoff wheel. Tool is well made and I wanted a reversible. I don't care for the trigger lever stop. This takes too much pressure to move and the tool starts at full speed; then when you try to ease up, it locks into off.

Look no further

This is a very nice cutoff tool. The wheels that it comes with are garbage and will last you about 10 minutes for all 5. It is a loud tool but compared to my old cutoff tool it is much quieter. The adjustable speed and reverse functions are great. You can keep it full throttle and easily adjust the speed dial. My only gripe is that the guard uses a large but to attach to the tool rather than a quick disconnect. Sometimes you need to rotate the guard to get your hand out of the way and undoing the nut is a pain. Excellent tool for the low cost.

Will not perform to spec.

Can only to punch 18 gauge. 16 gauge only gets a dent. Spec is 14 gauge at 90psi. I tried it at 110psi and performance did not change. The support and document leaves you searching for information. Updated review after 4 months. Flange will not meet spec. I cannot get a useable flange on 18 gauge sheet metal. Spec says it will do a 14 gauge but the offset on the flange is smaller than a 20 gauge. Now I'm looking for something that will work. This tool was a waste of money.

Works as advertised

Flanges 18 gauge without any issue. I did limit the air pressure to 85 psi, which is below the recommended max of 90 psi. Flanges were full depth, consistent and smooth. Maybe I got lucky and got a good one, or maybe the ones that broke were used at an air pressure >90 psi. Who runs their flange tool thru a regulator? I did.

Works awesome

Works awesome , glad I bought it , in just the amout of punch holes i have made with this to weld in patches or new auto body panels , never mind making a lip . When making lip / flange works best on rounded corners .

Good reversible cut-off wheel

Good reversible cut-off wheel. My only complaints that stopped me from giving it 3 stars is that to change the cut-off wheel i need to take off a screw, then the lock-nut. My other cut-off wheel tools only used a lock-nut to secure it so it was much faster to change the wheels. Another small complaint is the reversible switch which i need to turn. I have used other reversible cut-off wheels where they have a switch which you can flick with a finger, this one requires you to rotate a wheel.

Mixed feelings

Good product. Works well. I own both sizes. I did have issue with one that failed, luckily it was within the 1st year and was replaced. Love the tool, we'll see how it holds up in time.
