Stopped a cracked toilet tank from leaking
I cracked the bottom of a toilet tank by tightening the screws too much. Apparently, plumbing is the art of tightening things not too tightly and not too loosely. Lesson learned. The leak I created was a steady slow drip, and would only get worse over time. I didn't want to buy an entire new toilet, and finding a matching tank seems nearly impossible. I originally sealed the crack with super glue, which worked, but as the crack spread, the new fissure started to leak again. Since this marine sealant remains flexible, I used this to cover the cracked area, along with a generous area around the crack to account for it continuing to grow slowly over time. I had to empty the toilet tank of all water, and I placed a fan blowing down into it for several hours to dry out any moisture inside the porous porcelain. The sealant wasn't too difficult to use, I made a wide spudger out of some plastic from a milk jug to apply it, and smeared a thin layer over the entire area I wanted to seal. It is very tacky, so I used disposable gloves and was very careful to not get it on anything, but it still happened. I removed the accidental spots I created on various surfaces with acetone. I let the marine sealant cure for the recommended time, then filled the toilet tank. A month later, there are no leaks. Also, I squeezed any air out of the tube, placed the remaining sealant in a plastic zip-top bag and put it in the freezer in the hopes it won't cure on its own, and remain useable.

I used this sealer to seal the drain plug I had installed on my Mirro Craft boat. Cured to a hardened state, no leaks.

3M marine 5200 sealant speaks for itself .. a very good product but pricey... I try to buy as small a size as the job requires. The unused portion is almost always a throw away once the container is opened. ALTHOUGH, I have had "some" success by vacuum bagging the unused sealant. I was disappointed that the one ounce size does not come with an application nozzle. For "cheeping out" on the cost of a plastic application nozzle 3M gets only 2 stars. ( note that the 3 oz tube and the 10 oz cartridge do come with nozzles)

Used it to stick inflatable kite valves for kitesurfing. Works well. Its permanent so you have to get it right the first time. The open time is long so you can do all the adjustments that you need. Store the tube air tight in the refrigerator to keep it from hardening for future use
