Works fine

Hi, I'm new to nail pulling, but had no problems getting the nails out with this device. In case you don't realize, using a nail puller will cause some damage to the wood you're pulling the nails out of, any nail puller will....unless the nails aren't hard to get at, in which case you'd just be using the nail puller claw end of a nail hammer and therefore wouldn't need a nail puller like this one. My nails were finishing nails whose tops were flush with the surface of the wood and therefore couldn't be pulled using a claw hammer. I might have given this five stars except I don't have any experience with other nail pullers. Oh, I used an 8oz rubber mallet with this nail puller, though I understand a "machinist" hammer (e.g. "ball-pean") would work too (eye protection is a good idea in either situation). A nail hammer is hardened steel and not recommended for use with a nail puller such as this.

I pull nails for fun now...

I never thought I'd get excited about a nail puller, but these shark pullers are really a joy to use. My first model was the 8"er with the flat pry bar at one end, and I've ordered several other sizes since. The key to these things seems to be the quality of steel used - very strong and very hard - seems to bite into the nail no matter how much is showing. I also own one of those old-fashioned looking nail pullers with the slide handle and moveable fulcrum. It certainly works, but is definitely much more trouble to get into position and get a grip on the nail that these Shark units. On these, just point the paws at the buried nail, give it a whack or two, and voila, it's got the grip it needs to start moving it. Very versatile, very well made, very worthwhile to have in your toolbox.

POOR QUALITY CONTROL. I WANTED TO SUPPORT A US PRODUCT

I use a Bakuma (Japanese Import) nail puller and it is the best ive used. So when i saw Sharkbite made in the USA i thought well this was meant to be! Bought one.. FIRST swing of my hammer on a nail AND boom one side pf the claw broke off!! Then the replacement showed up and the claws are different lengths on the one end! Terrible Quality Control here. Made in USA doesnt always mean better quality. Bakuma > Sharkbite and its not close.

size really doesn't matter

I was shocked when I received this. It was about half the size of what I expected. I had to replace some deteriorating deck boards and was DREADING pulling the nails but after the first couple nails I had the hugest grin on my face because I new the job was going to so so quick and be so much easier than I figured. I had to stand up once to get a little more leverage on the tool but the rest came out like nothing and they were possibly the greatest nails every made 4" long, spiral shaft, galvanized they were like the day they were made when I removed them. I wish I owned this tool 25 years ago but then I suppose I would not appreciate it as much. I added a user photo.

Small but incredibly tough

When I opened this thing I was shocked at how small it was. Considered sending it back before trying to use it. Had to remove over 2000 Spiral nails from my deck to replace the boards. This thing removed everyone of them and is indestructible. Most of the nails I had to drive this thing into the boards with a hammer before lifting out. However it is so short I had to use a bottom section of a patio umbrella Over it for leverage.

Favorite Cats Paw

Nothing bites like a shark! I love these cats paws. They seem to grab the shank of the nails much better than any other I’ve tried. They are light years ahead of the box box store estwings. They will however break eventually under heavy use, but I suppose that’s the price I’m willing to pay for a great functioning tool.
