Ventura Bike Brake Pad Set Review
QUICK NOTES: -Grip very well to rims -Don’t easily catch rims causing a skid -Easy to adjust to maximum friction point where they don’t lock wheels -Whisk away water on rims in rain quickly -Maintain about 75% efficiency in rain. -Would 100% recommend these brake pads to anyone FULL REVIEW: I have used these brakes for a week now and I have to say I am very impressed with their performance. When installed correctly these pads provide excellent braking power without easily wanting to catch the rim, causing a skid. This is very important for the front wheel so you don’t wind up going over the handle bars unexpectedly or not being able to use that much power on your front brake for fear of going over the handle bars. It is very easy to adjust these brakes to the point of getting maximum friction on the front pads without allowing them to lock at higher speeds. This way you can grab all of your front brake in an emergency stop without worrying about going over the bars but once you are stopped they grad the tire enough still so you can lift your rear tire to change gears when stopped if you need to. When rising in the rain they brakes still work really well I would say that in the rain my stopping length only increased about 30% which is the best I’ve seen from any brakes I have tried in the past. For about the first second they are like all the rest where you don’t feel much braking power because they are removing all the water from the rim but after that first second they grip really well the applied friction seemed very steady to me. I obviously can’t comment on their longevity yet but I will try and update this review in a few months to let you know how they are lasting. But the material they are made of seems to be about the same as most brakes. For the price these are I would defiantly recommend these to anyone. --*If you have any questions please leave a comment and I will try and respond as soon as I can, but I have a job and things to do so please don't expect a response immediately.*

I Can Stop Again -- and No More Brake Squeal!
Wow! I'm not exactly a bike mechanic, but I figured it wouldn't be too hard to replace my old brake pads. I needed an allen wrench for the bolts -- found the right one by trial and error. I watched the configuration of washers and spacers on the old ones as I took them off, then more or less copied that as I replaced those old, hard, squeaking pads, with these new ones. These are asymmetrical, unlike the old ones that came off. There were no instructions that said so, but I figured the shorter end should go towards the back -- that is, towards the metal rim of the tire that would be turning their way during a ride. If you think about it, you'll figure it out. Then the longer "tail" would provide extra drag on the rim to help make you stop. At least, that's the way I did it, and it's working well. That horrible squealing and lack of ability to stop my mountain bike? A thing of the past! The price of these, and the fact I did the work myself, saved me a bundle. Recommended!

Excellent price, good performance
Good price for these brake pads. Keep in mind these are V-brake designs, I'd forgotten that aligning the pads to the rim takes some finesse using the included and scavenged washers from the old pads. Once you have the pads installed, check the tension on the brake cable and then check the symmetry of the pressure each pad exerts on the rim. Add a shim or take one away to get the brake pads the proper distance from the rim. Bent rims are very difficult to align properly, your brakes will likely wear too quickly and won't provide adequate stopping power. On a good rim with well-stretched cables, these pads work extremely well. Update: These pads wear extremely quickly, at least 10-20 times faster than the Cannonade OEM on a 1996 SuperV. Before you know it, you are rubbing metal against your rim. Good performance, but extremely rapid wear.

Great product for a great price.
Inherited an older bike with brakes of an unknown age - shop said they were okay to ride on. A few months later and they sound like they are grinding into my wheel, also had an interesting encounter with a car that resulted in an uncontrolled stop... time for new brakes! Picked these up and the replacement took about 10 minutes. I'm very impressed with their performance. I don't do high speed or anything, just casual pace rides to the gym. Brakes are very quiet, and I can stop on a dime without skidding. I'm hoping they last at least 8 months at my usage, but would definitely purchase again.

Great brakes, but short-sided.
They work the way brakes are supposed to work. The stopping power is there and overall a great product. The only downside was that the metal parts weren't long enough for my bike's brake arms, so I had to spend a ton of time trying to adjust them properly and re-tighten the brake lines.

Not bad, not great.
For a set for four pads they are a good price, but it’s probably worth buying a better set if you ride a lot. I used the pads for 2 years, and while they did an OK job they made a bunch of noise and didn’t have a ton of stopping power. YMMV. Thet aren’t bad, just not great.

I would recommend the shimano unless you really don't use your bike ...
Brakes work but I purchased the Shimano pads at the same time and quality is obvious. I would recommend the shimano unless you really don't use your bike often. These still work fine, especially for the price.

Stop. That's what they do.
These did not fit well on the bike I originally intended to put them on, but they worked well on a different one. I don't know why. Well worth the price to have some brakes that work.

there is a metal chunk in one of the break pads and it sounds horrible
Used them for a couple weeks, there is a flaw in one of the break pads and it sounds like a rough scraping. It isn't worn down, isn't touching anywhere except for where it should be coming in contact with when breaking. Able to stop but sounds terrible. UPDATE: There was a chunk of metal in the break pad, I took some pliers and ripped it out so it's working okay now, but that's a bit disappointing.

not worth the (low) price
I've only had a pair on my bike for just over 2 weeks and they are already worn and need replacing. Granted they were cheap, but I expected more. It's not a savings if I have to replace every 2 weeks. i'll not be buying these again and don't recommend them.

Poor quality.
Package arrived today. When putting the brakes on and under minimal tightening load the threads on the post stripped. Fairly disappointing. Would like a replacement pair but I'm not going to waste my time sending them back.

Good performance, but they get worn out quickly
Good performance at the beginning, but they do get worn out pretty quickly. I only ride around 30 to 40 km per week and they only lasted a couple of months. They are good while they are new though.
