Do what they need to but won't last for a long time

I just needed a cheap set of basic tools like this and they work. They grip well and do the basic jobs I need them for (mainly just gripping things). However the wire cutting pieces in the grips easily get groves in them so your better using a pair of snips (which when you are up a ladder means more hands or more storage). Thats why I marked them down. Its always an oversight on these cheap Plier sets. You get what you pay for.

Good set. Amazon needs to correct the diagonal cutters as they are dull with gaps

Good set. Gets the jobs done. Diagonal cutters are not sharp, so take a dremmel to them and sharpen them up. After that great set for any job. I have bought multiple Amazon Basics diagonal cutters now and returned them all except one (the one pair I kept I sharpened myself. ) because they are dull with gaps.

Not bad for the price, but not perfect

4 stars considering the price point. For the price, this is OK for a spare set of pliers to throw in a car tool bag. The cutter on all the pliers worked well up to 12ga wire (the largest I had at the moment), and of course, zip ties were no issue. All 4 were of a good size, if you only have one of each at hand when you need them. One issue that applies to both the needle nose and the lineman pliers is that that the jaws don't completely come together. Though almost perfectly parallel, the jaws don't quite meet, though they do at the cutter. Not a huge gap. For the needle nose we are talking about something less than a 32nd of an inch. For the lineman, a hair more. For a point of reference, using standard copy paper the needle nose will grip 4 layers, but not three. For the lineman pliers, it took 5 layers. So, for 99.9% of what I am (and most people are) likely to do, no problem. But even comparably priced pliers I have purchased from a nationally know purveyor of Chinese tools did not have this problem. My preference would have been to have one of the 4 be a "channel lock" type plier rather the the "lineman" type in the set, but that's just me. I would consider buying again if needed another cheap set.

Caution! Sharp Edges

Nice pliers set at a great price. Just be aware that three out of the four tools have sharp edges left over from milling operations that are sharp enough to cut your fingers. I spent five minutes with a file to touch them all up. ALSO, it would be nice to use light or medium gray on the handle coating instead of all black. Black tools inside a black tool bag are a challenge to see and find.

Good basic plier set

These are 6 inch sized pliers. Not the world's best, but certainly functional and suitable for a casual DIY toolbox. Chinese made, of course.

Sturdy medium sized Pliers with plasticuzed handles

These are sturdy and medium sized with black plastic dipped handles. The plastic coating is a matt finish and I prefer the glossy smooth finish used by many made in India tools. The set is made in China but do not deliver any material quality benefits compared to tools made India which I find to be 20 to 30 percent better value. The made in India tools are normally sold individually and the convenience of getting a set is the reason I paid more for these. For some tasks I actually need a smaller sized set but Amazon Basics does not make those .
