Just as good as the Proto set

These are just the same as the Proto set but in a cloth wrap instead of the plastic box. Get an extra small one as they always break no matter what...

Pretty good

The media could not be loaded. They came in really handy about 3 times but the only CON is that you might only get a good use out of them 2 or 3 times because the sharp edges get stripped or dull. I tried using the 15/64 again and it kept slipping, no more bite. The 15/32 saved me alot of time when some guy stripped an M8 hex bolt. Overall i think they're better than the spiraled ones.

Had high hopes

Had high hopes that I could use the 3/8 size in this set to remove a broken 3/8-16 bolt that was broken off flush in a stainless steel plate. Broke because it was very rusted. Drilled into the center of it all the way through, then attempted to use the extractor. Kept applying steadily increasing pressure until the Williams tool started twisting. Stopped and bailed on that idea, ended up drilling it out to 3/8 clearance size and using a nut and lock washer. Perhaps I needed to heat up the bracket before trying this extractor. I did pre soak it in PB blaster though.

Extracted broken spark plug from head of PWC

I neglected to replace the spark plugs in my PWC last year. The few threads that extend into the cylinder (well-known Yamaha MR-1 cylinder 3 issue) had grown some heavy rust over the winter. When I was removing the 4 plugs this spring, #1, #2, all came out okay but I really had to torque #3 and broke the plug off at the threads. I soaked the threads with Corrosion-X and PB-Blaster for a week and used one of the pieces from this Williams Extractor set with the 1/4" drive. I tapped the head of the extractor with a baby sledge till it took a nice bite into the spark plug threads remaining in the cylinder head and then was able to torque it out of the head, thank my lucky stars! I did the shaving cream in the cylinder trick to catch any bits of metal, chased the threads with a 10mm x1.0 Irwin tap, turned the engine over (with all the shaving cream and metal bits blasting out of the hole, and was able to complete my spark plug change. Be sure to use anti-seize lubricant on the threads per Yamaha's recommendation and remove/inspect/replace your PWC spark plugs every year so you don't have to experience what I went through!

IT works!

I have a 260 John Deere Backhoe and the grease fitting at the very bottom of the boom sheared off. I was very concerned about not breaking the Easy-out off in the 1/4 x 28 thread hole since it would be the very worse place to try and fix. I used Malco SEK1 5/32 left hand drill being very careful not to damage the interior shaft. The grease fitting did not move. I then tried Malco EX-3 but the slope was too great for the spacing between the outside and the interior shaft ( it went all the way to the shaft and was loose) so that did not work. I next tried Rennsteig Dual Edge Screw but the extractor would not bite the grease fitting metal and the extractor just spun and reamed the hole despite several hard hammer blows. I finally tried the Williams 3/8 extractor and after two hammers blows it came out and it in fact split the broken grease fitting into 4 pieces. The new grease fitting went in the hole so it did not damage the threads. I must admit I was concerned that the extractor would break and that was why it was my initial 3rd choice but seeing is believing. I would recommend this product.

Broke frame bolt off in 4430 Tractor

Very heavy duty and effective.

Broke an idler pulley bolt off in a $40,000 marine diesel motor. Needed to be really confident in whatever extractor I used. These did the job (as you can see in the picture). They are very heavy duty and high quality. They are NOT the magic solution, though. You need to drill a proper sized hole in the broken bolt, use a little heat, and DO NOT use a drill. I did all of the above, tapped it in with a hammer, attached a t-bar tool from another tap set and the broken bolt came right out without any fight.

Excellent tools

These things work like a charm. I use them almost every day at work and they have not lost their edge. They are high quality, American made, and worth every penny. The is a review up here that says they are made in China; that is false. The little bag they come in is made in China. Big whoop. Throw it out if you’re that picky about it. Anyways, if these eventually wear out I’d definitely buy them again, but that won’t be anytime soon. Highly recommend.

Well made, and they work!

I've wasted time and money on cheaper versions, but never again! These Williams extractors are well made of quality metal. Extractor size and corresponding drill bit size are clearly marked on each extractor. Feels like the kind of tool you would find on your grandpa's work bench. Simple, solid, effective. I wish tools of this quality weren't so hard to find.

Useful and durable

I'm not quite sure those are branded Snap-on because they are not which is why I knocked off a star. Aside from that, they have done a great job so far and seem durable.
