Dritz Quilting Rainbow Color Wheel Selector at only 5" wide is very portable. You can take it with you whenever you have color choices to make. It includes a pamphlet explaining all about colors (color theory), color values, color proportion & color combinations, such as: Complementary, Triad, Split Complement, Rectangular Tetrad, Square Tetrad, Analogous, & Monochromatic. There's even more useful information about using color packed into the Color Sense pamphlet which is written in 3 different languages, English, Spanish & French. I originally purchased this color wheel several years ago & wanted to buy a 2nd one for a gift. Dritz is selling this now, back then it was a different company. A few packaging changes have been made, but this Dritz wheel is the same Pick, Point & Match Rainbow color selector & still includes the Color Sense instructional manual which has proven very useful to me through the years. I use the color wheel for making more informed color choices for my crochet projects & for coloring. I've been coloring since 2008 and crocheting for much, much, much longer. I really, really like the Rainbow Color Wheel & the instructional pamphlet which taught me how colors work together. Great product. You'll not only receive a color wheel, you'll learn some color theory too. UPDATE (1/27/17): I recently edited my review because the last two color wheels I purchased did not come with a cardboard envelope storage container (so I removed that info from my review)

Not the greatest to use for color pencils. Hard to match them with the wheels colors.

I use Pisma and Polychromos color pencils. The colors on this wheel are a bit hard to match to them. They're just not the same tones for color pencils. It's a nice little wheel though. It's about the size of an average size hand. No problems with turning it. I love the cut out section to match colors. The colors around that cut out are pretty small. It would be nice to have them be a bit bigger. I believe the description did advertise for use with fabrics so they gave an accurate description.

Well, this is disappointing!

I had high hopes for this color wheel from Dritz to use to select and combine scrap fabric in pleasing ways. First, the wheel arrived bent - not folded clear over, but bent, so it has a fracture line across a third of it and the wheel won't lie flat because it's all wonky. Next, the colors are off. They're 'dusty' shades just shy of true primary colors, no matter how hard I peer at it (the red is a maroon, the yellow is golden, the blue is more teal). Finally, the wheel is so small that the cut-outs are too tiny to get a good read for any color placement unless the fabric is a solid color. I don't see this wheel being of much use to me for anything, but maybe if I get past looking at it with disdain, I'll figure out something to do with it.

Small but workable.

This was smaller than I thought it would be and the instructions were in five languages so had to maneuver which were the instructions for me but I guess it does the trick. I plan to use this for picking out quilting material.

The best, no contest!

This is the easiest color wheel to use for creating color schemes with your supplies (whatever they may be). I use it so constantly that it hangs permanently from a peg at my desk. You have to know what you’re looking at I suppose, but it’s so convenient to have so many kinds of color schemes marked out. I especially love that it includes different shades of each color.

Using for Adult Coloring Books

This wheel was supposed to be for quilting but I now use it for my adult coloring books. At times I got stuck and couldn’t figure out what two colors to put together. So I use the color wheel. It works just as well for the adult coloring books as it does for quilting. It’s a handy invention and I’m glad that I bought it.

Disappointed by its size.

I have had one of these colour wheels for years. It is an excellent colour wheel. A friend wanted one, so I ordered it for her and have been shocked by how small this one is. I now see that the dimensions are in the Technical Details, which I didn't bother to read because I know the product so well. Disappointed.

Very helpful tool

Item is on the smaller side (like mentioned in another review), and a bit pricy for basically a piece of cardboard. Having said that, the smaller size makes it perfect to throw into my purse when I go fabric shopping. It is sturdy enough not to bend out of shape too quickly, and the instructions are clear and straightforward. A great tool when trying to find the perfect fabric for any project, or to just find a good colour match for any project you can think of. It came within the specified time frame, and I would buy it again.

Would be perfect if a little larger in size

Really like this colour wheel and it will be very useful for choosing colour combinations that match well together. The numbers from 1 to 7 for each 'colour' show different shades etc, but the numbers themselves are printed small, can hardly read them but obviously can work it out from lightest to darkest colour. If this wheel was a bit larger it would be perfect, but those with vision issues might struggle to use this small wheel.
