What you would expect. KIND OF..
okay first of all I have to start with the fact that I bought this item NEW of course and it came to me used. Maybe it was a return but that's only okay if it was in new condition. The item itself was intact I admit but there was dog hair and stains that looked like makeup (hopefully) on the "sheep skin" part. I mean come on i should get a used price then! As for the product itself: It is wayyyyyyyyyy smaller than they would make you think. It says it works for pets up to 20lbs but that would NEVER EVER be able to happen. If you have a teacup dog this is PERFECT. My dog just barely fits. I have an 8lb chihuahua and he barely fits. He can sit in it but the bucket aspect would never be able to hold him in if there was a sudden stop. He can only lay down if he curls up and rests his head on the outside of the bucket. The item itself looks similar to the picture other than size except the white sheep skin part is actually cheap felt and it's misleading in the image in the way that its just a side liner with no padding at the bottom of the seat. The bottom is a pretty sturdy solid hard piece which is good but you'll have to put a blanket for any sort of comfort and since the bucket is so short it would level it out as if you were only having them sit straight on a pillow with no sides. So yeah.. honestly this is perfect for a tea cup dog and the quality is okay for that too. But a larger dog I would say above 4 lbs is going to have a hard time and it tilts so they lay sideways. If the bucket was actually deep this would be fine but since its not it almost seems safer and more sturdy for them to just lay on the actual cars seat rather than sliding around on top of this weird shallow bucket that they can't stretch out it lol okay I'm done. this item is just so misleading. it would be great if the description was more honest and you bought it for the right pet.

it will do
I wanted to keep the dog in one place while we drive and our new car doesn't have a spot just for her. we put a rug on the back seat but she still roamed around. this does give her a designated spot and I had to had some sheepskin inside for her to want to sit in it with out someone petting her. this worked great. keep in mind, this is small. it wont fit a medium sized dog. my dog, in the photo, is a smaller than breed standard 8 pound cat sized dog. there is a zipper pocket in front, but its not roomy, you will fit a doggy poo bag in it, but not treats or toys, its flat. the liner is not as it looks on the photos of it in use in the ad space, it comes with is more of a top wrap of some thin fabric, its not fleece, its not a thin Sherpa look. there is no bottom of the lining, its just a collar that goes around the edge and gets displace easily. my advice? take that off and put in a nice fleece blanket for your dog or other liner or pad, your dog will thank you. we could not get it to strap on to a back seat and she has to be in the back, so we strapped it to the fold down arm rest in the center. it stays in place and all i really need is for her to have a designated spot she knows to sit in. this does that. i do not think she would go in it if it were suspended or not sitting on the seat for support under her. it was not a price item, and I am able to see if she will continue to sit in while we are driving. if it works, I will upgrade and spend more on the next one. but this is, for the price, a good way to see if your small dog is willing to sit in box rather than on your lap. i will update, as i always do, as time passes to let you know how it holds up.

Puppy Loves To Cruise Around With The Hubby
I bought this for my husband and his new chihuahua and they both love it. Here's some things you should know: The straps are adjustable so it can be raised or lowered depending on your vehicle and your pet. If you have a real chubby little one, you can place the bed lower to the seat, but our tiny girl can sit higher in great comfort.. This won't properly secure your dog in the back seat unless you have a split seat. It's clear that it's really made to work in bucket (front) seats like in the product photo. There is also a clip that secures your pet into the seat itself. The clip is a little too flimsy to keep even our 4 lb puppy attached, so we use a small carabiner to secure the strap to her halter instead and that works great. The fleece lining you see in the photo does not totally line the inside of the seat and just goes around the edge and extends maybe a couple of inches inside, so we put a small blanket in the bottom for extra comfort. The puppy loves to be able to see out the window and we love that she's secure. She can even lie down and sleep if she likes. I would recommend this is for small "toy" dogs only - or maybe your very adaptable cat(!) I wouldn't try it for anything larger, as the straps might not keep them in place in the event they decide to jump around, if you have to stop very short, or (heaven forbid) an accident. We use a regular halter-style seat belt for our bigger dogs. You can tell it's not a super-premium product, but we didn't pay anything near a premium price. Overall, I think this is a good value for the price and, since we seem to use it the way it is intended, it works very well for us.

Good start
My doggo was a bit weary of it at first bit it's growing on her. The fur lining isn't cushion-y so I put a blanket in it. Better manual needed but once I set it up i just swing it behind when she isn't using/riding with me.

Perfect for a Shih Tzu
Like the others have said, I would suggest keeping the animal you plan to use this with under 10 pounds. My Shih Tzu is about 9 lbs., and she's small for a Shih Tzu. But this fits her perfectly! She's not too happy about the built in harness hook to keep her in the seat, but if I didn't use it, she'd just climb out and onto me! :) This allows her to curl up and sleep (which she has done every time so far), stand up and look out, or just be able to watch me, particularly if I have to get out of the car for any reason. She's up high enough that she can watch me go to the mailbox or open the garage, so she doesn't bark. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I was a little disappointed to find out the faux sheepskin lining only goes around the top and maybe 6" down the sides. I thought it would cover the bottom, give my little girl something soft to curl up on. But no, the sheepskin thing is there for looks only. I have a towel in the bottom of mine for her to curl up into if she's cold.
