Let me start out by saying, this is my second ostrich chair. The concept is genius. I lived my first basic lounge chair. Nothing fancy and it was super portable. Someone that weighed just more than the weight limit leaned back and it snapped and broke. Fast forward 2 years and I decide to get another. I found this model and like how comfortable it looked and all the extra bells and whistles. I did not like the price tag, since I only paid $40 or so for the first one. This chair is very versatile. It has several different positions which is nice, but I’m not sure I can point out any more positive features. I’ve used it 3 times and finally figured out I have to take the back pillow off and use it as a “rubber band” to keep it from unfolding while trying to carry it. It does have a carrying handle which is helpful, but only if you are able to secure the chair somehow. A simple built it clasp would make it much easier to transport. It does seem to be made out of a light aluminum type metal, so it’s not going to be suitable for someone too big. Also, you cannot recline the chair fully unless you are sitting in it. If you are are sitting and want to lay on your stomach you have to fully recline them get up and flip over to lat down. It would be nice if you could recline the chair while standing up. All in all, it’s fine, I do think it is way overpriced and would probably opt for one of the simpler models that are less cumbersome and are easier to recline and fold up. I will say being able to read a book through the hole is the very best feature, I’d just like to see a sturdier more user friendly model in the future. I also encourage the warranty.

Purchased Chair as Gift

I ordered this for my 6'2" dad for his birthday. He loves this chair. However he did tell me it does sit a little low and it took him some time to understand how the chair fully works. Overall, he is excited to use it this coming summer at the beach. He loves that the chair can lay flat to tan both sides of body and has a foot rest. However he might be a little tall for the chair he still enjoys his gift.

Broke after one use

Used once before the wooden arm rest broke, which is what holds the back up. It was decently comfortable but now can only lay it flat. Definitely concerning for long term longevity. Update, found replacement arm rest on their website for $13.95. Looks easy to replace. Hopefully the one I had was just a weak piece and the replacement will be better.

Comfortable chair that needs improvement

The chair is extremely comfortable and roomy. It sits higher off the ground and is much easier to get in and out of. Those are the reasons I love it. But it is not a lightweight chair and the foot rest breaks very easily. Bought one and used it about 5x and the foot rest broke off on one side. I had my husband break off the whole piece and still used the chair because of the comfort and height. I bought another one and have tried to be much more careful with the foot rest. This time I noticed that one side was locked when I set it but the other side only looked like it was locked, but really wasn’t. So be careful and make sure both sides are locked before you put your feet up. I did enjoy reading my book on my tummy looking through the face hole. I actually fell asleep on my stomach!

Happy with purchasr

My chair squeaks when getting in and out of it, i’m not sure if they all do or if it’s just mine. the carrying strap is somewhat awkwardly placed. That could be improved. And the cushion that is attached to the chair is somewhat limited in where you can place it, it would’ve been better to have a Velcro closure on it so that you can move it on the chair depending which way you’re laying on it. Overall I would definitely recommend this chair.

Too much trouble!

I bought 2 of these based on the face hole for reading but you need way longer arms than most people have for that to happen. The worst thing is that they do not lock in place when folded so they are a nightmare to carry on the beach or anywhere else, the “shoulder strap” is completely useless. The leg section is on the ground in sitting position and keeps the chair from sitting flat on the ground and it’s very awkward to put up unless you’re out of the chair then it’s hard to get in it. If you never have to carry them or change the leg position they are ok for sitting. To keep from breaking the leg section you probably want to leave it up all the time. Keep your frustration down and just try something else.

Great Chair, great features and very comfortable

I was hesitant to buy this chair based on some of the negative reviews, I spent hours looking....but I am really glad I took the chance! This chair is so comfortable and has everything I wanted and more! I am 5'4" and 120 pounds, this chair fits me perfect...my knees don't fall in the gap when on my stomach, my calves sit perfectly on the lower leg support and the extra padding makes it very comfortable-even if you're taller I still think this chair would be comfortable. The back pillow support and head rest is, again, very comfortable. I wanted the chair that did everything...face hole for tanning, multiple adjustments for lounging, arm rests for comfort, etc. The cup holder and pouch on the other side are great additions. The pouch has 3 pockets: 1 can hold another drink, smaller pocket for cell phone, etc and a zipper pocket for valuables. The back rest has 5 positions adjusted by simply lifting the arm rests up and sliding into position which is great because you don't have to get up to move the back. The foot rest has 3 positions adjusted by a plastic swivel bracket you pull in and out and lock into the slot, you do have to get up to adjust this part.(this is the only part I worry about breaking since it's plastic) You can lay totally flat, straight up or anywhere in between. I saw many reviews about the quality and while I will say I don't want my 240lb son sitting in it, it feels stable and seems like taken care of properly will last just fine - but I have only used once to date since I just got it. Has a convenient carrying strap and hand hold cut-out on the arm rest making it easy to carry - and it's not heavy either, less than 10lbs. Overall if you are looking for a great tanning or lounge chair with all the bells and whistles this is a great find! I am very happy with it - SUPER comfy and lots of options!

Took a few weeks to arrive, having been noted as out of stock. It is low to sit on as an upright chair, however it needs to be to double as a sun lounger. It is wide, again built to double as a sun lounger - so when flat its normal sun lounger size. Whilst its quite heavy (not really suitable for a trek across the beach) it really does function well as a sun lounger you can even put your arms and face throught it to read from the ground whilst laying on your stomach. We do use it as an upright chair but only because we dont want to take yet another chair on our caravan holidays!

Size of Chair

This chair is nice and wide but a bit cumbersome to cart around as it keeps opening up if you use the strap on your shoulder. My husband came up with the idea to use a strip of velcro to secure it so it is much better to carry. I like the fact that it can be used as an upright chair to a full lay down chair as well. I know the bottom of the chair is padded but I found that, if I am on my stomach, the top part of my feet get somewhat sore after about 15 minutes so I have to keep shifting around. Otherwise it's a great chair.

A dandy little chair...

This chair feels solid and well made despite other comments to the contrary; plus it has loads of features which make it feel pretty luxe- a padded foot rest, holes for arms and face when laying on your front, cup holder and a nice carry strap. It’s a great option for those who wish to have the convenience of a folding/portable chair but the comfort and ability to tan while laying flat of a lounge chair. It functions very well as a reclining beach chair or flat out as a lounger as the back and foot rest both have multiple adjustment options from straight up and down to flat out. Overall, pretty worth the price...better than paying half and getting something with no quality at all.

Favourite chair

Item is exactly as described, great quality, no issues so far. My original Ostrich chair lasted for 6 years, bought on eBay with customs fees paid! (balcony use and occasional picnics outdoors), was happy to find this on Amazon, very light to transport, good design, feels sturdy and durable.

Looks exactly as pictured...does the trick nicely as far as reading face down whilst lying out, I am enjoying that comfort so far. I do believe it might not be of great quality...feels a bit weak in the "joints" and I'll try to post an update after summer to see how it holds up. I'm a very small lady and don't think this would suit someone of a larger, heavier stature...but I'd say thumbs up for the price!
