Absolutely AWESOME chair, and now even better!!!
***UPDATE 7/12/21*** Well, after five years of frequent use my faithful companion finally gave out completely, which I’m fine with as it gave me many, many hours of comfort in rain, heat, etc. So right after my trusty steed collapsed I had no reservations about hopping right back on Amazon and ordering a new one, and SUPRISE — the overly fragile umbrella that was my only real complaint about my old chair appears to have been beefed up and improved. I still highly doubt it would withstand the strong wind gusts that frequently occur at the beach, but I no longer feel the need to lunge in a panic to grab the the umbrella with anything more than a mild breeze for fear the tines would snap. Thank you Sport-Brella for making this critical improvement, and I’m looking forward to years of comfort and enjoyment with my new chair. ***UPDATE*** 9/19/16 After 3 months of use I encountered my first issue. On a somewhat windy day on the soccer field a gust of wind came and snapped one of the spines loose under the umbrella. I emailed the company and they responded promptly asking me for a picture and the receipt. Not unreasonable but I didn't get to it right away, but I was very happily surprised when they proactively called me to follow up. They were very helpful and have sent me a replacement under warranty. Very impressive. Going forward I'll keep the umbrella down on windy days. A fairly minor annoyance given all the good thing about this chair, although I do wish they'd make the umbrella more sturdy in the future. Still 5 stars from me for a great overall product and just as great customer service. BTW I also bought their Sport-Brella XL umbrella and it is also a very impressive and thoughtfully designed product. This chair is exactly what it looks like in the picture. And the good news is that it's very well built and works perfectly. I've now used it at several kids sporting events, and without fail someone approaches me to ask about it and to get the link. One guy was so impressed he actually ordered it right there on the field. The chair itself is comfortable and sturdy, and the footrest likewise works well and makes life much more comfy during long games. Now for the really great part...the umbrella. It's getting hot here now, and being able to create some shade when the sun is beating down for hours is a game changer. The umbrella pivots and turns in so many different ways it's always possible to block the sun from my head and upper body, although it's not really big enough to cover my legs and feet. But that's ok. It can even be moved to either side of the chair depending on what side the sun is on. During a long soccer tournament last weekend I watched others bake under the hot sun while I sat in shady comfort. Priceless. As an added bonus, despite all its parts the chair folds up very easily, and when it's packed up in its bag it's not much bigger or heavier than a normal folding chair. Amazing. I would not be without this chair ever again, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The only minor, and I do mean minor, issue is that it takes a little care to get the chair into its bag. The bag itself is a nice size and the chair fits in it better than other chairs I've owned, but due to all the parts the drawstring can fairly easily get stuck in one of the many joints preventing the bag from completely covering the chair. Not a big deal, and I found that by keeping the drawstring on the opposite side of the umbrella when loading largely avoids this issue. In any event, it's a small price to pay for all of the many benefits this chair offers. I'm thinking this would also make a great gift for anyone who spends long periods of time sitting outside. The only thing I'm not sure about is how the umbrella would hold up at the beach since I haven't tried that yet. It's designed and built well and held up fine in a good breeze on the soccer field, but I don't know if it could handle stronger gusts that can pop up at the beach. I'd bring a beach umbrella just in case. Further bonuses are the chair actually reclines in two lower positions (although not flat), it has its own bottle opener, a cooler that can hold a few drinks, a good amount of storage, and a smaller pouch on the armrest that can fit a large smart phone and actually has pass through built into it for headphones. About the only thing they didn't add to this chair that I'd like to have is a head pillow, but given everything else I feel bad even bringing that up. If you're even thinking about buying this chair, just do it. You won't regret it.

*updated review, not so* Great chair; within reason
***Updated review, original below*** So, I originally LOVED this chair. I had it for about 7 years, but it was starting to show wear so I ordered a new one. I received the new one, and it lasted barely a few months before I encountered the "won't stay upright" problem. (There's a spring bearing which holds the chair in the upright position. If it goes, the chair cannot stay upright) I tried contacting the company, and I have yet to hear a response from them. The chair is still well within the warranty period, but a warranty is useless with a company that won't respond. It really sucks because I spent years bragging about this chair, only to be shafted when I got a (what appears to be common) dud. I can't recommend purchasing a product that a company won't stand behind. So, congrats Sportbrella, you've ensured I'll never purchase nor recommend another one of your products ever again. *Original Review* I've had this chair for about 6 years now, and I figured I'd share my experience with it. First off, I'm 6', and have ranged between 165-190 lbs over the course of owning this chair. It has gone with me camping, to the beach, amusement parks, my backyard, been thrown in my trunk, jostled around, etc. It's definitely gotten it's share of use over the years. Comfort: For a folding chair, this thing is unmatched. No annoying bars poking you, it has a built-in ottoman, adjustable umbrella which can be placed on the left or right side of the chair, and 3-position reclining. The reclining in particular sets this apart from a typical Coleman chair, as it's WAY more comfortable. You do have to baby it a little while you adjust it, and I imagine that's why some other people have experienced an issue with it. It locks in place with a spring bearing, and although it can get tedious to adjust it, I haven't had any issues with it. I've only THOUGHT about removing the ottoman attachment once. It can be done, but it's just easier to unclip it and let it sit on the floor. To remove it entirely, you have to unscrew it from the legs. Ain't nobody got time for that. Another issue I have is the armrests will slide down somewhat, but not so much that it's uncomfortable. It's more an inconvenience than an annoyance. Drink cooler: This was what prompted me to get this chair to begin with: the built-in cooler right in the frigging armrest. It really doesn't get much more badass than that. The cooler won't keep your beer cold all day, but it will keep them cold long enough for you to finish the one in your hand, so you don't need to keep going back to the fridge/main cooler while you're out there. It can fit 3 cans, but I've found it's better to have 2 cans and a cooler pack, and you literally don't have to worry about them getting warm at all. Beer bottles won't allow the zipper to close, but you could put them in there as well with no issues. I usually have bottles when I'm in my backyard, and never had warm beer come from the armrest cooler. It also has a bottle opener attached to the center pocket under the seat, and this was a bonus because I didn't know it was there until I received it. Umbrella: This is both a strong and weak point. It can be moved easily from the left to the right side of the chair, and once attached, it can adjust forward and backward from two points, (NOT side to side) and the umbrella itself can freely rotate. The only issue here is it's pretty much useless in any wind that's higher than ~5MPH. It will either rotate the umbrella to a position you don't want, or it will start moving it from the adjustment points with some loud clicks that really don't sound pleasant. I choose to keep the umbrella closed when there is a decent breeze for this reason. Portability: It's light enough to be brought from your car to the beach without tiring you out. It can be comfortably carried for ~15 minutes without any issue. Any longer than that and you'll want to open it up and take a rest. it does come with a carrying case with a nice long carrying strap, so for it's size and weight, it's surprisingly easy to carry. It is only slightly more difficult to pack than a standard Coleman chair, (it's also slightly heavier) but that's only because of the ottoman attachment. Once you get the hang of it, it's straightforward. Longevity: This was why I wanted to write this review. It seems other people have had bad luck with this chair. I certainly can't say the same. This chair has been through a lot with me over the course of 6 years. Having said that, I do take very good care of it (I don't plop down or anything like that) and I rarely let other people sit in it. Everything works exactly as it did the day I got it. YMMV. Overall, even if this thing broke tomorrow, I'd say 6 years of use was well worth the 60 bucks I paid for it. I've always been happy to bring it along, and I definitely enjoy all the envious looks I get from people with "lesser" chairs! Hope this helps!

Chairs are fantastic!
Just spent a month in Florida and bought these chairs to use on the beach. We could not be happier with their performance. They are comfortable enough that we used them both at the beach and on the patio at cocktail time. They are very sturdy and worked well in the sand. The foot support was awesome. They fold easily. I read other reviews that said the umbrella feature did not work well in a breeze. We found that to be untrue. We used them in a substantial breeze with no issues. These chairs are heavy as is to be expected but having a beach wagon to carry them in made it fairly easy. Great design and great product!

Fantastic chair
Very sturdy and comfortable. Its very big chair, really roomy, looking forward to using it in the summer! Easy to put up and down, only niggle is the bag is flimsy and will rip with daily use...

Good for beach but not for sports
It is a pricey beach chair. I bought this because i thought it may protect me from the sunshine when i watch my son's game outside in summer but it is not as comfortable as a wide back folding quad chair from Costco, which costs less than $30.
