A proper fitting boot at long last (while it lasted, see update)
* See updated review at bottom These are actually true to size, something I haven't been able to find in a very long time. The only other boots I had which were sized properly were the original Duluth oiled leather wild boar slip on boots that after a good 7-8 years use are now in tatters (also no longer made in that design, the new versions were horrible for me). Similar to my old Duluth boots these Florsheim are extremely liberal with the room provided for the front of the ankle and top of the foot, especially useful given that they have the steel toe and metatarsal guards in them (no rubbing for me). Normally if I was wearing regular thin socks I'd be at a size 12 extra wide so I ordered a size 13 extra wide just to be on the safe side since most boots anymore tend to run a half or full size too small. These much to my surprise are exact to size and actually loose with regular socks, however with a nice boot sock they fit like a glove with a little wiggle room to spare. The insoles that come with the boot are even quite good, better than any other standard insole that I've seen come with a boot. I have high arches on my feet so I've still swapped them out with a pair of Tread Labs inserts and the combination for me makes it feel like I'm walking on air. The bottom soles are nice and wide as well, something that gave me no small amount of trouble on the Redback boots I was wearing up to this point. The Redback boots had a tendency of easy slipping/tilting inwards along the arches of the feet since they had a very narrow sole compared to the width of the leather sides on the boot, these Florsheim boots are substantially wider on the soles and more or less even where the leather is attached and aren't giving me any of that trouble which is quite a bit more comfortable when you're walking on uneven surfaces. As several people have noted initially getting your foot into it can be a bit of a squeeze in the opening, but that honestly shouldn't be anything unexpected with a slip-on style shoe or boot and I'm expecting after 2-5 weeks it will be sufficiently worn and stretched out enough that it should be a breeze to pop on and off. Also they did a really nice job on making the back loop both heavy duty and extremely large so it's easy to hook a finger or thumb inside with large hands/fingers, the front loop is a little smaller but still big enough to do the same for me. All in all I'm ecstatic with these boots so far, they fit amazingly well right out of the box and with the sliding leather covered stretch sides even look like a much dressier appearance boot. Will probably get another pair of these in future as a spare. ------------------------------------------------------ 9/30/2018 update Unfortunately I've had to roll these boots back to two stars from my original glowing review and have since retired them all together. The leather on them ended up shrinking terribly over time (shoe/boot oil seemed to make it even worse), reducing the shoe size by at least a half if not 3/4 to a full size. Also the metatarsal guards ended up break loose from whatever they were attached inside the boot with and now click against the steel toe on every step loud enough to wake the dead. It's not quite what I would have expected from a pair of boots that were as expensive as these.

I love these boots!! My 6th pair
I love these boots!! I’ve had 5 pairs before these. I always order a full size lager and they are very comfortable. I used to buy from my local safety store but they said Florsheim quit making them so I got the competition from them which I regretted. I went to Amazon and found them again!! They usually last me 1-2 years before I wear holes in the sole.

Good Shoe...BUT....
This shoe is good...not great..but good. I wear it all day from site to site. WARNING.....the top of the shoe where the meta gaurd is, is narrow. so I suggest purchasing a slightly larger/wider size only because of this. This shoe will take a couple of weeks to break in (if using everyday) and the top will expand...so do not puchase an overly larger size...just something a little wider. I am also not sure of the "No Slip" aspect of this shoe...on a wet smooth tile surface or light sprinkle oil smooth concrete surface, you WILL slip and fall... But overall a very good shoe takes a lot hard work, the stiching is good and has not torn and the shoe is a few months old already

Hoping they break in
Large loop front and back catches your pants leg so pants legs don't fall over the shoe; they tend to roll up and bunch on the loops. Reasonably comfortable and lighter than my previous boots. Only problem I have is my big toe rubs the edge of the steel toe. It's not intolerable and I'm hoping it gets better with more wear. Rather snug around the ankle but that seems to be getting better with wear. I bought the 11 EEE since I have a wide foot and the EEE width is plenty wide with room to spare. I'll probably invest in some better insoles at some point.
