Cannot connect this to my Nest WiFi hubs
I have tried connecting the system to my Nest WiFi system (3-node) using the Starfish app and, while the IOS Starfish app finds the network, after about 1 minute the Starfish app says cannot connect to network. I have tried power cycling the Nest network as well as the Satco unit and nothing worked. Note other devices I have in my home connect just fine to the Google Nest WiFi so cannot figure out why this won't connect. I'm guessing the app is buggy or doesn't support the Google Nest WiFi security protocols.

I'm a fool for anything LED, especially of the RGB type. I've got a house full of Banggood kits I've assembled--clocks, cubes, spinning gadgets. I've put them in Xmas ornaments, glass display cases and overhead fixtures. When I saw Color Changing and WiFi in the same sentence, I couldn't resist. I like the colors and blinky lights. It's probably a 60's thing. Right out of the box, I was impressed by the apparent quality of the strip, itself. It's not just a basic LED flex tape but is the coated type, though I find no documentation as to whether it meets IP65 standards for waterproofing. A power adapter and on/off switch are included. Presumably, the WiFi radio is in the switch housing. The pamphlet states up to eight strips can be connected in series. The downloadable Starfish app is relatively straightforward, once you get past the usual funkiness of pairing devices. (One brief hint: You must register an account with password, and the password is only alphanumeric. No special characters are allowed. It took me a few minutes to understand why my initial attempts at registering failed.) I haven't attempted to implement voice control and can't comment on this function. Note that, despite the illustrations above and on the box, there is no apparent option for a rainbow multi-color effect. The LEDs on the strip do not appear to be individually addressable to accomplish this. Illuminating the entire strip is restricted to one color at a time, though this is in the range from cool white to color(s). Bottom line: It appears to be a quality well-integrated product, both in hardware and software. The flexibility of the multiple control and color options raise the possibility of a number of both practical and esthetic applications. It looks cool. It's pricey.

Small 6 foot length of colorful LED lights, works okay with the control button
Bright lights that work great for our redesigned dresser mirror. We repurposed a dresser for an arcade. We made the top dresser drawer into the control board and placed a large monitor in the top. The mirror is the backdrop and looked a little odd. So we added lights behind the mirror and now it has a colorful glow all the time! The lights are controlled by a small 2” controller that attaches to an adapter then a wall outlet. They were easy to glue to the back of the mirror and were just the right length to go around two sides and the top. The sticky tape seems to be holding well. We tried setting up the app and did not have any luck at all. We were exited to be able to use our Alexa app but cannot do so. The directions are very confusing and the app shows instructions for a light bulb. The lights work fine for our purpose. There is a button on the control that allows us to select the option that makes the lights change to,different colors in a pattern. This works fine and we can turn them on with the button. For the price, the app should work specifically for these lights. We are disappointed that we cannot control them with our Alexa. Since that doesn’t work, they should sell for much less.

Great Strip Lights with Lots of Features
This is a review of Satco Starfish Wi-Fi Indoor Tape Strip Lights What You Get (Figures 1, 2) 1 indoor, color changing strip light, 6 feet (1.8 meters) in length 1 power adaptor 1 control module 1 instruction page To assemble, you need to connect the power adaptor into one end of the control module and plug the strip lights into the other end. Once plugged into a standard 120vac socket you can press the control module button to turn them on-or-off. Remove the protective strip from the back of the lights, and stick them to a clean, dry surface. Note: You can make the lights longer by purchasing additional lighting strips, or you can make them shorter by cutting the strip, but only cut it on the dotted lines. You can toggle, through different settings by clicking the on/off button on the control module; however, for even more control, simply download the free Starfish app. It is available from the App Store, or Google play. With the app installed, it is a simple matter to control the color and intensity of the lights. The app allows you to control the lights with Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings, without a hub. I use Amazon Alexa, so I can use voice commands to control the lights and turn them on-and-off. In addition, I have them in a group that is programmed to come on at 3:30a (when I get up), and turn off at 11:00p. The connection process was easy and took less than 10 minutes. The cost of operation comes out to about 0.3 cents per 24 hours, with a projected lamp life of 25,000 hours. Off and On (Figures 3, 4) The “Off” photo was taken in the morning with the sun above the horizon, and the “On” photo was taken at the same time, with the strip lights set to soft light at about 70 percent luminosity. Bottom Line Excellent lighting strip. So, if you are looking for a way to bring a bit of light to an area of your home. These lights will make it happen for you.
