These covered, hinged jars are a must-have for oils or acrylics
I was a bit hesitant because many reviews stated that their order did not include the right number of lids. I received 10 jars and 10 lids - exactly as ordered. The lids were white instead of multiple colors, but that is fine with me. My cat likes to explore the paints or drink the brush water - problem solved!!! An absolutely perfect buy. Thank you!!

Decent Paint Cups
First of all, these are fairly decent paint cups. I was somewhat concerned after reading some of the other reviews regarding these cups that they would be too big, but was pleasantly surprised once they arrived. They are ~4" high (including top hinge), with a bottom diameter of ~2 ½", and a top diameter of ~3 1/16 (or ~3 ¼ if you include the thumb-opening). They have a fill line ~1 ¼ from the bottom which is the maximum it is recommended to fill these in order to prevent accidental spills. The lid snaps shut reasonably securely, and flips opens almost 270 degrees (250 perhaps?) and so will not fall closed while in use. The lid also has two sets of ridges on it that can be used to balance a paintbrush across in your choice of two different angles. In use I have found these a good size as they are small enough that my young son can easily maneuver them, and yet big enough that they don't easily tip. I also chose to only fill them under ½" for three reasons: (1) limits waste if my son accidentally mixes colors by putting a dirty paintbrush in the wrong cup, (2) prevents my son from dipping the paintbrushes too far and getting paint on the handles, and (3) will hopefully allow him to use the paint fast enough to prevent it from drying out. I should also mention that my 3 year old son has no problem opening or closing these containers. The reason I docked these cups has mostly to do with quality. While these seem sturdy enough, it was somewhat frustrating to put the lids on as they only have a single thread and it was tedious to try and get them on straight. These are obviously also not airtight by any means (no rubber seals, etc). For the price that is not unexpected, but would have been nice to not have to worry about the paint drying up if my son takes a week off from using them. These are also, as expected, made in China. I should also mention that they arrived stacked together very tightly (perhaps due to the heat during transport?) and were difficult to separate. On a side note, it would be nice if there were better options out there (ie. airtight, good quality, etc). While other brands are likely better quality, they tended to be available only in sets of 4 for primary colors (plus green). These were the best, no-spill option I could find that offered a good selection of colors and yet I am somewhat disappointed that no one makes a slightly larger set (anyone notice how there is no pink?). Naturally, I could (and eventually will) teach my son how to just mix these colors on the side, but, at my son's current age, that would be far too messy. I have noticed that Amazon now offers the individual cups for sale and so I may eventually pick up a few of the white ones and mix the other colors for him (pink, gray, and perhaps sky blue with how appealing outdoor scenes normally are for kids), but it would be nice if matching cups were available.

Great for Little Painters
I love these paint cups. Unfortunately, we learned the hard way not to leave them with paint in them for long periods of time to store. I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if they were for constant use, but ours dried out after we stored them away for a couple of months while we were gearing up to move. When they were in regular use (no less than once a week) we didn't have a problem. They're plenty big, so you can really fill them up with paint, which means not having to constantly refill them. The paint cups were easy enough for my son to open and close himself (which might be a warning to parents here as he was able to do this at two). The opening for the brush was wide enough that my son could easily manage getting the brushes in and out without making a royal mess. He dropped them a couple of times and we had no problems with spills. I'm really impressed with these little paint cups and how well designed and convenient these are for young children. Our son was never allowed to paint unattended, but he loved the feeling of independence he got from being able to do it all by himself. I've tried a lot of art supplies with my older two, but these paint cups are my favorite. We'll be replacing them again after our next move in 6 months when we don't have to worry about paint drying into them again. These match up with theCrayola Washable Kids Paint set of 10 Bottles (2 fl oz/59mL) , though there is no black, so we just put the pink in the container for the black, which my son was okay with.

They Don't Spill, But They Could Screw On Better
We originally had the Melissa and Doug paint cups with 4 colors and I was looking to expand my toddler's palette to include more colors. These paint cups come in 10 colors that match with the Crayola Tempera colors: red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, purple, brown, black, and white. They are air tight so the paints will not dry out and the lids are designed with an inside beveled edge so that if the cups are knocked over the paint will not spill out. They have a nice audible snap too so that you know it's closed. The only thing that I don't like on these as opposed to the Melissa and Doug paint cups is that the lids don't screw on very well. It's more of a pop on, with a slight twist. It doesn't seem to be a problem with spillage, but it really could be designed better so the lids can be put on and taken off easier. Otherwise, these are great paint cups that we should get plenty of years from.

Missing lid
Set is great and fits our kid Kraft easel perfectly but the purple lid is missing. We unwrapped and immediately put lids on the cups but one was missing from package.

Missing a red lid.
Other than missing a lid, the product works well

Really happy
These are GREAT. Well worth the price and just as good as the more expensive brands. I love that there are so many colour choices. They are easy to open and do not spill when tipped. They are easy for kids to use also.

Must have if you kid loves to paint!
My 6ys old has been using them for a couple weeks now and they are great. Lids on top snap closed air tight so you can store colours in them for next time and they have already saved us from multiple spills and messes. Which definitely makes mom happy!

Prefect for little painters!
The first time my daughter used these paint cups she knocked one flying (lid open!) onto the ground and my initial reaction was panic but when I looked at the floor there was NO MESS! It stayed contained in the cup. The jumbo toddler paint brushes fit easily into the holes and the funnel shape of the lid also helps moderate the amount of paint the kids get on their brushes (big gobs of paint hit the side of the funnel and scrape off into the cup) so it will save me money on replenishing art supplies as well.
