Good Oroduct

I really like this scale. I had an expensive bluetooth digital scale that proved to be very inaccurate. This scale provides consistent results. I do need to “re-zero” it occasionally but the adjustment wheel is right up front and easy to use. Overall, I am very happy with this scale!

Perfect bathroom scale but needs some finesse

This is an old fashioned scale with a giant dial and generous standing space. Perfect for the bathroom and, at least for me, much more pleasing to use than a digital scale. Note that this is a mechanical device and it therefore requires a little finesse to get the most out of it. Here's what I've noticed: GROUND SURFACE Any scale should be placed on a level and hard surface. If you put it on something with give, like a carpet, the surface will push back and show an increased weight. That goes for all scales, not just this one. ZEROING THE SCALE This is where a lot of people go wrong and then complain of accuracy issues. Like most scales, there is a knob to adjust where the "zero" is by displacing the needle slightly to the left or right. Since the needle and indicator dial are mechanical, there is a bit of friction in the system. If you place a foot on the scale and take it off quickly, you wil see the needle swing down to zero, and inertia carries it through the zero point slightly into the negative region, WHERE IT THEN STOPS. It stops there because of friction. If you give the scale a few light taps with your toe, you will see the needle jiggle loose and return to a point closer to zero. A few more taps and you will see the needle quivers with each tap but always returns to that starting point. That's where you want to adjust the knob so the zero points to that starting spot. I usually give the scale two quick taps before stepping on in order to (1) make sure it's still at zero, and (2) most importantly, make sure I am getting a consistent weight reading each time. WHERE TO STAND I've noticed that there is a way to "maximize" the weight shown on the scale. You have to stand up straight and lean very slightly forward. Since the laws of physics would seem to indicate that I can't exert more force than my weight, I interpret the maximum weight as the true weight. If you prefer to deceive yourself, you can slouch to the rear a little and lose about a pound. Overall a great scale. Only four stars because for the price I would have liked a glass dial cover instead of plastic.

Sleek, accurate, and easy to use!

Bought this scale for my mother as we had to carefully weigh her daily for water gain due to heart issues. It is highly accurate and easy to read. Highly recommend the investment over cheaper models. The accuracy cannot be beat. Highly recommend A++

Big Fat Liar!

This scale is a BIG FAT LIAR! Looks pretty, but is not accurate. It's about 2-6 pounds off as what my digital scale says. At first I thought about returning it, but maybe I'll just keep it. I guess I can live with the error. (Just bump up the scale's adjustment wheel to compensate for the inaccuracy).

I was kind of excited to get this scale. As excited as one could be that is. I am dieting and I want to see a nice accurate picture of weight loss. I, too, like many of the others decided that I did not want all the bells and whistles and thought myHealth o Meter HDM560DQ-05 Digital Weight Tracking Scale, Black might be a little too complex. I thought I would move toward simplicity. Ok ... so I thought I was headed in the right direction. I unpacked the behemoth of a scale (this one is really long and large and you might want to think of space available for it). This goes far beyond the space for a bathroom scale. But I knew that by reading the other reviews on here. I was ready to make the room because this scale looked worth it. It cost more than some of the others in it's class - so I thought cost might equate to quality. In this case, not so. When I anxiously unpacked my scale and took out the key (I turned the scale upside down to do this) the plastic lens from the dial came off. As I inspected the scale further (and attempted to re-seat the lens into the bezel) I quickly realized that this scale was made using cheap materials. That chrome bezel that looks so pretty in the picture ... it's plastic! When I saw the tabs on the lens and the slots in the bezel that lined up I realized that the tabs were too small and the lens would never stay put with any minimal jostling. I would forever be wrestling with a plastic lens coming off and dust and grime getting into the dial ... not to mention condensation if in a bathroom. I currently use my Health-o-meter weight loss scale and it's definitely better than this one - but I wanted the simplicity and large numbers because of eyesight (I have MS and my eyesight stinks). Another design flaw I saw was mentioned by another reviewer. The dial to calibrate the scale to zero is right under the dial. This could be moved by a toe, a shoe, etc. Too easy to access and too easy to move that dial. Like most other scales, a spot under the top or bottom edge would have sufficed. The dial might be large, but the numbers are written in a sans serif font that isn't even bolded and becomes difficult to read, especially if eyesight is any issue at all. The dial is pretty, but it's difficult to read. How about that plastic lens - what happens if it starts to get scratches on it and the dial becomes even more difficult ot read? What about all the plastic ... will it hold up to bathroom condensation over time???? This could have been a nice scale, but I think they should send it back to the design shop or cut the price in half. I expected better quality all around and a little more thought put into the design. The scale may look sturdy ... but looks can be deceiving. If I thought that this scale would have been worth it, I would have returned mine for an exchange because defects happen. Instead, I decided to go for a refund and will either stick with my current digital scale or look for something less cheaply made. 1 star.

Really bad product !!!!

I bought this one because I have a Salter already for about 5 years and glass is a bit cracked so I was thinking to buy same Salter because I am/was extremely happy with my old one, that still works. This new one is so unreliable, if you use it five time it will give you five different readings. Every time it supposed to go down to zero, it goes up or down 2 to 3 kg every singlr time. So I will manually adjust it to zero and next time it goes again and it needs to be adjusted. Such an unprofessional product. I am not sure if this is still a genuine Salter product like my first one because it looks really cheapy compared with my other one. Anyway, my suggestion is don't buy and too bad I can't return it anymore, because I will do it right away.

I would never buy this product again.

I liked this scale because of the name, the big dial and dual scales. It doesn't take batteries - bonus! I would not buy this scale again. It is very unreliable. After a while the readings become very inconsistent. I have to zero it out every day and if you adjust it 2 lbs. you weight changes 5 lbs. It's just another piece of junk that will end up polluting the planet.

Not sure it's accurate

This scale appears to be fairly high quality. However, after weighing every member of our family, it seemed that the scale may be about 10 pounds too high. I'm normally 200 and the scale showed 210. My father is usually 170 and it showed 180. My wife is usually around 115 and it showed 125. You get the idea. If you are looking for an accurate scale, you may want to look elsewhere.

I'm glad I didn't pay more.

I bought this scale cause I thought it was the same scale at my doctor's office...it isn't. They call it a "professional" mechanical scale,..I don't know what profession, but it's not the medical profession. This scale is light and not really high quality,..but I will keep it anyway.

A good heavy duty scale

Really like the scale. Gives accurate readings and numbers are big enough to see. Only negative I have is without proper lighting and my glasses on, it’s somewhat difficult to see the small lines for the middle numbers.eg. It’s hard to distinguish if your 186 or 187 pounds cause the lines are close together. But overall I like the scale. It’s a heavy scale and reminds me of a doctors office scale.
