Pretty good for a toy but photo is misleading.

After reading the reviews on this sword and looking at the pictures, I can see where people expecting this to be a child's sword are getting their wires crossed. The photo of the item IS the child version of the sword. The blade is proportional to the rest of the sword, which was what I was expecting to get but in an adult size. The adult version, however, has the same scaled-down hilt as the child version, which is out of proportion with the length of the blade and is NOT what is pictured in the photo. I own a metal replica Strider sword (not made by United Cutlery, but a decent Chinese knockoff of it), and the blades are the same length, but the hilt of the toy sword is much smaller. I bought this as a prop to use for conventions (which usually have a no live steel policy) but I'm not sure the inaccuracy of the hilt size is something I like and I may end up modifying it by adding a longer hilt (which I'll have to make, myself). If proportional inaccuracy doesn't bother you, this is pretty good for an inexpensive toy and it is absolutely con-friendly, and I would recommend it to anybody needing a prop sword that doesn't have to look too screen accurate. The blade is hollow and a bit on the thick side, so anyone expecting it to go into an existing scabbard will be disappointed, but it's easy enough to make one that would fit it, yourself. The box it came in, like everyone else has said, was comically large.

Just wished it was a little stiffer but overall it’s well-made

Hey guys it’s P-nut again the sword is well-made I wished it was a little stiffer but at the same time that would take away from the look I was able to use it in two cars play events this year and it held up well. I don’t think you’re wasting your money on the sword for the price it is a very well-made cosplay sword. The sad you’re not supposed to be using the Beato reach others add some accessory and all you guys players know a lot of it’s just having great look so the sword won’t let you down I hope Can help you make a good decision good luck P-nut

YES it's cheap plastic like a normal toy sword and the picture of the item is not at all acurate. That said, I'm happy with it. Its adult sized and seems sturdy.

Safe for cons, looks good for pictures.

If you need a prop for a sci-fi con that will pass inspection by Security, this will do fine. If you want something to duel with, look for a training sword. This is stiff enough to hang on a belt, and that's all I needed when I bought this for my Ser Jorah Mormont ("Game of Thrones") costume. Some people have complained about paint flaking on the grip and mine had the same issue. My solution was to wrap the grip with athletic tape and paint the tape with flat latex paint. Problem solved, and it feels better in my hand now that it has some texture on the grip. The hilt is shorter than it should be, and so is the grip. It fits in my adult hand more like a one-handed sword than a bastard or broad sword, but for a generic mediaeval sword, it works. See pics for comparison, and to see the massive box it came in.

Sword is as described, but note that it is 45" long

This item is as described. It is hard plastic and durable, but will bend if you lean on it or hit something hard with it. It is definitely sized for an adult. I was able to find much smaller swords that were more like big daggers (20") and this one which is around 45". My preference would have been something in the middle for what I am using it for. Tacking pictures of my 2 labs - Thor with is Hammer and Strider with his Sword. So even though it is a little large, it is what was described and what I expected.

Fairly sturdy for a play sword

This is a long sword!. Fairly sturdy for a play sword, but not sturdy enough for play sword fighting... it's more of a display piece. Quality was pretty good. The paint had worn in a couple places on the handle, but not badly. The sword has a slight curve net the tip, probably from shipment. Overall I'm pleased with this sword. I have to keep it away from the kids because they think it's awesome and want to play with/destroy it.

Life-sized sword!

Sword is more life-sized than the other costume swords (much too large for a child). As others have mentioned, the black paint on the handle arrived completely crackled and flaking off. I would have returned it if there were better options, but I guess one can't be too picky when shopping in the sub-$20 range. I used some fine steel wool to remove the paint and then repainted the handle. I used black undercoating which looked pretty cool with the texture but started feeling tacky the more it was handled. It also smelled funny. I'd recommend some plastic-specific spray paint for a better result. I really like that it's full-sized and pretty heavy duty, but the crappy paint encountered by many buyers is going to cost a couple stars.

Awesome sword, but was seriously MASSIVE

Awesome sword, but was seriously MASSIVE! Great for an adult costume, but I wouldn't recommend it for a child! We ordered this for my 8 year old for his Aragorn costume and it was pretty giant! Also, this sucker gets hidden quite often because kids can't quite control it and someone always seems to get hurt...or something in the house gets broken! So awesome for adult, but maybe not so much for kids!

Good quality

For a plastic sword is nice. But the sword comes disassembled and has 4 rivet screws showing up to attach the handle.

Fine for Halloween

For one night per year, and most of that time discarded in a corner, this sword is fine. If I were doing cosplay or other serious costume scenario this looks and feels too cheaply made to be of value. This was the best and most reasonable facsimile of a Night's Watch-type sword I could find that didn't cost $300. It did the job, which is all I needed.

Il peggior acquisto

Il peggior acquisto che io abbia mai fatto, non mi aspettavo sicuramente una spada vera per meno di 20 euro però sono a dir poco sbagliate le misure scritte in descrizione ed inoltre non assomiglia per nulla a quella usata nella foto dell'articolo. Imballata malissimo ed in oltre oltre il danno di aver acquistato una cosa in plastica a dir poco oscena, la beffa: arrivando PIEGATA sulla lunghezza.

La espada llegó con el mango quebrado

La espada llegó con el mango quebrado lo cual hace que la hoja se caiga, la tuve que reparar con poco de kola loca y bicarbonato de sodio para pegar ambas piezas, en lo general la espada es bonita pero para la calidad del plástico creo que es un precio elevado junto con los remaches en la hoja eso le quita puntos a su favor.
