Great Housekeeping Tool....!

I was genuinely surprised by the negative reviews on this product because the one I bought right here from amazon is totally great and I'm extremely happy with mine! I'm particularly pleased with the large amount of debris it can hold and with the fact that it can remain securely shut and simply put away in a corner somewhere until I collect enough to empty it. And it does seem to me to be decently made and sturdy enough. I have no other similar item with which to compare it; however, my daughter owns/uses another brand of a closing "lobby" type dust bin, and after using mine while helping me with housework recently, she asked for the amazon listing number because she's replacing her's with one of these. Sorry it's been a disappointment to some other buyers - but amazon is always more than gracious regarding refunds and I hope that those of you who were displeased will return it and find one that suits your needs. I do really like mine, though, and would definitely recommend it to friends without any reservation. (Now, after having said that, the darn thing will probably fall apart tomorrow)! :-)

self stading dust pan

This dust pan is very good. It stays open and upright as you sweep light weight objects into it. You don't need to hold it to keep the handle pointed upward. It holds more than most conventional dust pans, and you can fill it to the brim without spilling due to the lid that closes automatically when you pick the dust pan up by the handle. It even has little wheels on the hinge side on the bottom of the pan so you can drag it on hard and smooth surfaces without scuffing it. The handle is long enough for most people to pick up without needing to stoop or bend over, but I still have to droop my shoulders to pick it up as I am 6'6" tall. I'm used to it, but I don't have to bend over as far at least.

Beware of inconsistancies.

I have owned two of these over the years and they get moderate use in a retail bike shoppe. They last at least five years before becoming difficult. The new one I just received had a defective handle. I would complain, but I needed to use it immediately and used the handle from the outgoing one. It looked as if the handle was truncated and had a cheap plug jammed into the jagged tubing instead of the nice swiveling cap with hanging loop that it's suppose to have. It pays to buy from someone who knows what they're selling as opposed to the box kickers at Amazon.com. The bitter taste of poor quality remains far longer than the sweetness of a cheap price.

Broke with normal use before the month was out.

This item looks fairly sturdy but beware--within a month of installing it on my pan (which is the exact pan this accessory was made for), one of the arms that holds the broom snapped clean off. I was not rough on the product and used it as directed. Waste of money, I am getting a replacement in the hope that this one was just defective in manufacture (I will update the review if the next one lasts longer)

Shipping Box is Huge

The dust pan is exactly as described. What was not mentioned is that it is shipped assembled. The box is huge. Not just a long narrow box. It is long and wide. There is approx.2 ft.of wasted space in the width with nothing but air. Assembly of this dust pan would not be difficult. A bit more environmentally friendly packaging is needed for this product.

Good Grip/Easy Release

This bracket is made from durable plastic and is easy to install on the handle at your preferred height and angle. The bracket has a sturdy grip so the broom doesn’t fall but it doesn’t require much effort to pull the broom from the dust pan. I am very happy with this bracket and have several. I recommend.

Bien, pero..

Envío rápido y producto de buena calidad y cómodo de usar pero en las instrucciones se detallan unos ruedines en la cubeta que tiene los huecos para colocarlas y evitar dañarla por arrastre sin embargo en el paquete no vienen dichos ruedines.

This product was warped and bent when it arrived. The plastic construction is to flimsy. The cover would not fit right and the dust pan was warped at the bottom so no dirt could be swept in. I sent it back for a refund. I was disappointed because Rubbermaid is generally a great product. .

Works well!

Does two things very well. Keeps the companion Lobby broom bristles from developing a bend. Hangs both the lobby broom and dust pan on the edge of a garbage can for quick access and easy storage.
