Worth every penny!
Was hesitant to get this for my 18month old. I thought it would be to complicated. I was completely wrong though, it's been four months and every day he finds a new way to put them together. I can barely keep them put away for more than an hour he spends so much time building. Its helped him with dexterity, colors and shapes! I couldn't ask for a better toy for him.

ABSOLUTE BEST GIFT FOR MY SON ON THE SPECTRUM!!
ONE OF THE ABSOLUTE BEST GIFTS I EVER PURCHASED FOR MY SON WHO’S ON THE SPECTRUM. He was 4 years old when he first opened & played with these, and his ability to immediately build right out of the bucket genuinely amazed me. His little advanced brain figured it out, to the point he knew it would lock if he didn’t remove a gear prior to turning the crank (good enough, he removed it & cranked his invention for the first time, & every single gear turned as expected). He used all but one gear the first time he built with it, and continued to enjoy building other creations for the following several years. He is 12 now, so it was 8 years ago I made this purchase. I eventually purchased the other Gears Sets available, and he especially enjoyed the set with multiple-sized gears. He definitely had basic gear ratio understanding by the time he was 5 yrs old thanks to his ability to mix the sets. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE PRODUCTS AND AM GRATEFUL MY SON WAS ABLE TO ENJOY THEM AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE. I sometimes wonder how much worse his autism could’ve ended up being if he wasn’t able to access the types of toys that advanced his thought processes the way these have. And I’m forever grateful I didn’t have to find out.

Great toy set, but might be difficult for little children to operate...
This is a great set for a little constructor. My 3.5 years old son loves constructing complex stuff with toys therefore to encourage him we have purchased many sets for him (legos, mega blocks, thistle blocks, quercetti tubes) Each offer different fun but this one stands out being the most mobile one. It comes with 95 hard plastic pieces, some are to construct the base plate while another group is to carry the fun to the third dimension (the upright sticks) The rest of the pieces are colorful interdenting gears. Finally it has two handle bits which you need to move the gears round and round. You can put the gears and sticks in various combinations (gears on the side of sticks or sticks on top of gears or gears on top of each other etc.) After some trial and error experience with me (my son and I) we figured out the way they should be aligned to transfer a horizontal rotation to a vertical one. Then my son took over and started building interesting combinations. I am sure he will master it in time. My experience is that the parts are a little stiff which is good for non wobbling steady rotation but bad for the little one to stick them together. So younger children may need some help from the parents. The price ($30) is good considering the number of pieces. Each piece comes to around 30 cents which is lower than many other construction toys. (better than quercetti and lego duplos but slightliy worse than mega blocks.) Besides the storage can is a real good advantage to store it properly after play time. This toy set offers good fun for the little one and helps develop his/her fine motor skills as well as supporting the imagination. Yet it might be difficult to operate or master for younger children. I recommend it to anyone who is after a good toy set at a decent price...

Brightly Colored Building Set to Grow with Your Child
I bought the Gears Gears Gears set for my 3 1/2 year old grand daughter for this Christmas because she loves building with things. I love the bright colors and that they will snap together making this a toy she can use her imagination with. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this set and I think she is going to love this. This is something that will get easier and easier for her to do as she gets a bit bigger and we can add different sets to it as we go along. I like the larger set because we will be able to build a lot of different things.

Great gift for imaginative kids!
I bought this for my son when he was 3. Two years later, I’ve come back to write my unbiased review so you have one to trust. At the time, I bought these on a whim and had no idea what I would unlock. For more than 2 full years now, these gears have been played with DAILY. Every. Single. Day. They have held up to crashed airplanes, tidal waves hitting sea creatures, and have been catapulted into castles. Very rarely have they been played with as shown on the product pictures, as my son uses them to build different things every day. Dusty Crophopper (plane), Lightening McQueen (race car), and so much more. Our only regret is sometimes we don’t have enough pieces to build an entire fleet. These creations have an entire shelf for display in his bedroom to feature what he builds each day. This toy is durable, open ended, grows with the child, fits a variety of abilities and ages, and is only limited by imagination. I could not recommend this toy more!

Terriffic set for the young ones
I bought this set for my 4 and 2 year old grandchildren knowing that it contained only one size gear. I had also purchased the Gizmos set that has only 82 pieces, so I thought this would expand it nicely. Well, kids are kids and we (and I do mean we, the three of us) wound up playing with this set by itself. What great fun! The 2 year old took to it like a duck to water and was happily building gear layouts that did nothing but turn. But she love it. Turn the crank and all the gears clattered along, amusing her no end. The 4 year old, who has experience with these at school, was more ambitious. It turned into a race between grandson and grandpa to see who could expand our creation in the most adventurous way. By the end, we had constructed quite a machine that clattered and whirred and used up most of the pieces in the bucket. The verdict: this set by itself is massively fun and entertaining for a 4 year old, a 2 year old and their substantially older grandfather. Having just one size of gear is not a drawback. And this set does work well with the expansion sets. Gears! Gears! Gears! is a great concept and I can see that I will be happily expanding our collection over the months to come. I hope the kids interest in it will be as ardent as mine. Jerry

Endless hours of play!
Endless hours of play and endless creations to be made. My children love this so much that I had to purchase a second one of these so the creations could be even more intense. Highly recommend for open ended play and imagination/engineering building

Forget the kids, I love this set!
I think this set is fantastic, giving hours of enjoyment, and that's just me! In all seriousness I'm impressed with this system; it's simple enough to be tackled by my 3 year old but dynamic enough to keep all ages engaged. As my kids grow I'm going to be supplementing it with other sets. The number of pieces within the set is good, thus allowing two children and an adult to build smallish models at the same time, or to combine efforts into something larger. The pieces are robust and show no signs of easily breaking. Highly recommended.

Wow these gears are brilliant. Ordered at special price and delivery was quick. My 4 year old loves making and building things and plays with these alot, which keeps him entertained for hours plus you can make so many different things with them, even as a adult I enjoy building stuff with them!!!. Some friends have seen my son playing with these and been so impressed that they are going to purchase some for there children. So glad I bought these such a brilliant product which will last for years.

Durable and Fun
I bought the starter gear set for my 5yr old grandson and he enjoyed it so much I bought this set of extra gears and other parts. This is a good, creative toy for mechanically minded kids and seems very durable. I would have liked a bit more variety in the size and types of gears provided though, they are mostly all the same.
