Not great for a wide entry way

The gate is easy to assemble and not too bad to install. Our biggest issue is that for a wide entry way, the gate expands to it's full width and becomes saggy and difficult to lock into place. It's also rather clunky and loud (not fun for those still sleeping in the morning). We use this for our dog, so while we are trying to lift the gate to get the knobs into place to lock the gate, the dog can easily squeeze by. We have purchased other Regalo gates in the past (not the 'swing' kind like this one) and we love them. This one is just not our favorite.

put up for a month are starting to rust

I bought this to put at the top of my stairs as you come to my house to keep my dogs from starting out the front door works great however, it’s not as wide as they say, it is how to add a couple boards to each side about 3 inches each to get it to fit where I wanted once it was installed. It worked great.

The BEST Walk-Thru Gate I've Found!

This gate is such a steal! Amazing price for amazing quality! The gate is easy to attach to any opening and for use on the right or the left for opening and closing. I love that they entire gate swings instead of just a tiny section of the middle that is always impractically sized for humans. It's adjustable in width as well which makes it easy to fit to a door frame or staircase. I use them for my dogs and they are so wonderfully easy to deal with. I will certainly be purchasing more for summertime and having the exterior doors open.

Keeping the Dog In

Great gate for my front porch. Ordered a second one for the back porch. Nice height and easily keeps my large dog on the porch when people walk by. This gate is very durable and strong. I had no trouble installing it either. Well worth the price.

It works.

This is for my two puppies, to keep them out of my living room. At first, the puppies could squeeze between the bars. However, just a week later, they were blocked.

Not bad but not great

It's a good enough gate but it is a pain to close. You have to line up the top and bottom and it can be a pain. It's loud too which isn't ideal with sleeping kiddos.

Good gate for the price! Had to 3D print a supplement part.

Overall, this was a good, sturdy-feeling gate for the price being offered. The major flaw was that it only comes with the hardware to swing one way, which did not work for one of the locations we had in mind. Fortunately, this is such a common problem for this gate that someone created a 3D file of the latches needed to make it work in the other direction. You can find them on Thingiverse. Obviously, print them with high infill and out of a higher-quality ABS plastic if possible. But the files worked, felt stronger than the originals, and I now have 2 gates exactly where I want them. I'm disappointed that Regalo does not offer the part on their online store. I'd have gladly paid $10 for the modified pieces that would probably cost pennies for them to manufacture. Also, they probably don't want parents printing their own parts for liability reasons. So get on it, Regalo! Also, my cats could fit through the gaps at the closing-end of the gate, which was a major relief! I still want them to have free range of the house.

Faulty product

The two stabilizers to keep the gate from sliding were the wrong size. We had to grind them down to make them work.

Gate only hinges one way. Unfixable.

Very stupid design for top and bottom of stairs. The gate can only be hinged one way which means you cannot choose the direction the gate swings. So if your stairs are along a wall or you have an obstruction, either the top or bottom of your stair, the gate will open into the room or into an obstruction instead of the way you want. They only needed to provide a left-hand little plastic latch which must cost pennies as an alternate option to correct this but they do not include it and it cannot be purchased.

Disappointed in the mounting

When I ordered it, I expected the gate to swing either left or right to open, but it does not. I have since read and re-read all of the information and it is not suggested anywhere that it can only be mounted and swung open in one way. So mine is mounted upside down to allow the gate to swing open from left to right. The attachments that hold the gate secure are a bit flimsy and have to keep being twisted back into place. We got the gate as my senior dog was falling down the steps ~ it took less than 2 days for our cats to figure out how to open the gate when it is not in the full lock position. If you are buying know the hardware is meant to be ONLY on the left and the gate to swing open on the right side. It should state this clearly in the description. I am currently looking to replace it with a gate that can be installed correctly for my needs.

Its okay

Its an okay gate but do not buy this if you have baseboards where you want to place the gate as the lower hinge block and lower receiver mount need to be installed close to the floor. Also any handrail you have that is wall mounted can be a factor in the gate swing, preventing opening or closing operation. Because of a handrail we had to install it backwards to the install directions to get it to work and it is obtrusive when open. We remove it when our grandchild is not around and it is simple to unlock and remove.

Be careful, only installs in one direction

The gate is only designed to open in one direction, which is a problem if your stairs are oriented the other way. Although this is mentioned in the product description, it isn't sufficiently emphasized in my opinion. I was able to make it work by installing the latch upside down, but it isn't pretty. The frustrating thing is that they would only need to include two more extra parts to have this function in either direction. If it weren't for this issue I would give it 5 stars.

Everyone eventually snaps under pressure

I've had this baby gate for nearly two years. It's set up at the top of a staircase so we anchored it to the wall. It has worked really well for us. Kiddos (3 and 1) still haven't figured out how to unlock and open it so it remains very safe. My kiddos love to stand on the gate and had a bad habit of standing on it while swinging it closed and tonight it finally snapped (who wouldn't under the daily clamboring of a toddler). The top weld holding the bolt/hinge insert broke and would be fixable if I knew a welder. Really, I'm super happy with this gate and will be ordering it again. Only knocking one star for the weld failing under the (repetitive) strain of a 30lb kiddo.
